  1. I don't see, as Kranium,  a problem with the cheat death or misery. TLD has always been made with differents modes and a magnificent custom mode in order to let the player plays as he/she wants.

of course it is time & money for Hinterland, but they did it in this way since years, making the good choices to make a game enjoyable by many different kind of players.

I think this a very good way of making games, even if it significates for the players more time to wait.

I am worried about how cougars will be implemented.

As they are described, it mean that if I keep moving relatively quickly from region to region, I'll never see one. But I am already a nomad. 🥲 I won't be able to enjoy of this great addition to the game.

I'd much rather see cougars implemented as "normal predator". Maybe he could have the behaviour of a silent hunter that seeks the prey out if we are near its territory, also maybe hiding on trees and attacks by jumping without any warning. As opposed to the wolves or bears which alert you to their presence, we'd hear a twig snap only if the cougar runs over a stick.

Maybe there is some custom parameter for the time before cougar appearance.

  3. on my side, I log in when I want to participate only. I look often the forum but as a guest.

I'm on internet since the 90 and I've seen many "stunning" discussion, because of misunderstandings or angry / irritated people.

sometimes,  I see it here, but rarely, which is a very good thing, meaning the forum is well moderated.

so I'm more a lurker than a participant, by personnal choice.

  4. I think this article focuses more on game influence, that include some survival aspects, rather than "survival" game.

and personnaly I don't like zombies, so focusing on survival genre, there's not so much.

for survival games that will leave a mark, I think:  TLD, this war of mine, don't starve, green hell, subnautica, the fallout series in survival mode

I'm really deceived to not see this war of mine, because it could significate that there will be not so much game like that in the future. I prefer to think it was forgotten :)

  5. hi,

I suggest you to go the the tldmod discord (&website for the download whatever the TLD version you use). you'll have all information, from melon loader to install the mod as support for that use.

give it a try, you'll be surprised by this good community.

see here in the modding & UGC section, the different posts of everyone you'll have an idea ofsome posters, but the best way is to go on the website. quite all mods are in the lore of this game.

    bye.

    note: see

but to read it all :)

  6. main runs are :

    • few bears and wolves, more moose, more dear, more rabbit, more fish,
    • more injuries from woldlife, tipically for clothes,
    • very harsh climate but deteriorate slowly,
    • very few item outside, normal inside

and some mods, but consistent with the game.

I play only custom mode since years to fit the game with what I like to play :).

  7. I try at maximum to avoid them, as wolves. if not possible, I find a spot where it can't reach me and try the headshot. cars are a good spot too, I shoot and I wait in the car.  the flare gun seems good to avoid danger when there is some blizzard.

they are slow so at distance we can managed them. if I'm surprised by one, I'm always mauled.

  8. hi,

a compass seems to not fit the game as there is a geomagnetic event. so maybe a fool compass :)

sticks on the ground helps to find the way in the blizzard. the exploration is a big part of this game.

    bye

  9. hi,

the discussion wasn't pre-dlc if I remember well. so we'll have to wait. certainly once all is finished & stabilized, i suppose.

it seems there is huge job for the team, so focusing on the most profitable vendors (that is quite normal), we will have it maybe not before the end of the dlc.

note: for gog users, it is often a question of DRM free, and so to have no client installed into the PC.

    bye.

  10. hi Hinterland,

as a gog player, I'm one of the few that could be deceived by this message deciding not taking official milestones or giving deep information to users, but I'm not.  I think the challenges you gave to you was very tough, and of course, whithout comprehension of the difficulties by us, we're easily upset by not seeing what was told. this is particuliarly true when we talk about something linked to emotion (as a game we love). moreover, having too tough challenges significate big problems internally and so the quality of work decrease (even not willing it). I experience that everyday (I work in railways industry, managed by delays, so always... too far unreachable goals :) )

so good news to be in a more realistic way, and it is better for us too.

for finance, I think that all work deserves money, moreover with such a succesful game, so no pb to have paids dlc, and why not for survival too. I think that we spent many hours on this game, more than more costly games.

so congratulation for taking the return of experience into account, and to share that with us.

  11. so, here the list, I'm on gog version so the v2.02:

AlcoholMod, AmbientLights, ArcheryTargetPractice, Better-Fuel-Management, Binoculars, BlanketMod, BleakBridge, Candlelight, CanneryManufacturing, ChooseStartingGear, ContainerTweaks, DiyBySantana, Fire-Pack, EnableFeatProgressInCustomMode, FoodsByCalorieWaltz, Food-Pack, ForgeBlueprintsMod, Free-Look-In-Cars, HouseBasements, HowToSurviveBook, MooseSatchelMod, MoreWorkbenches, MovableContainers, NorthfolkClothingPack, PlacingAnywhere, RemoveClutter, SmallFixToScenes, SnowShelterDecay, TimberwolvesAnywhere, UseableMeatMod, WeightTweaks, WolfskinScarf, WoodenStatuettes, WorkshopBullets.

and all dependencies of course. I've try the fox mod, which is very good but I play with a gamepad and I'm not good with... my hands 😜.

I play exclusively custom mod today (I bought it in 2017 or 2018), with customized mods too :) , few bears & wolves, but more hurting, harsh & variable weather, max aurora, few item outside, medium inside,  it is more on survival thing than hack & slash with timberwolves :). it's more on exploration & making some bases evreywhere.

the best feature of this game is clearly the possibility of customization.

  12. I think that crude meat or fish attracts  wolves and bears.

so I think, in an immersive way, that if crude meat is kept outside more than 1 day it disappear, eaten by wildlife.

so, in order to not cook all, we could use a smoker. it will takes more times, but many at once (7 to 10 kg), with a long fire (8hr). the meat will also get a very lower decay rate.

once done, we can let it outside.

it makes things less easy, but it avoids spoiling food. and I find it more immersive.

  13. this is clearly a very good idea. whatever the spawn, we went by airplane.

for the starting inventory, well you have your cloth & pockets (so to check the inventory), but you can have a box of medic & bandages as you have in every airplane, and maybe tools.

for the shelter, I'm not sure this could be a good idea because if the airplane is in fire, not a good idea to stay here :) moreover with gasoline.

maybe to check it some hours after, to take the remaining gasoline and other stuff.

for the scene, I think it is easy to do it, and in my opinion, you have sprain or contusion, so you're not in good health.

  14. the visors can be a powerfull mecanic. I mean it could lead to history of the island, but to indicate loot too, as prepper cache or specific items.

it could give the code for safe or building entrance, or backdoor to these buildings.

it could indiate short path, etc.... cook recipes, or craft recipes maybe :)

even a shopping list... "buy powder at Thompson crossing".

I'm curious to see what they'll do with that as you can give many information.

  15. hi,

maybe the trader is a man or a woman, forest talker or not, already dead.

but its shop could have specific items, and useful information on the island, on specific localizations, that can have other items or histories, or leading to something else.

as of today, in survival mode, we're alone, all are dead, frozen. so why not.

pretty sure Hinterland will do it well, as ever.
