I've seen the same behavior.

Piddy is saying that the moment the last of the ice (or snow) melts the water would be close to zero C.  It can't go higher than that because the heat is going into making the phase change between ice and water.  After all the ice is completely melted, the fire can start increasing the temperature of the water.

A washed up shipping container that you could enter would be neat.  Almost anything could be in there.

Harvest some low-tier clothing you find in the loot.  Or visit the bunker - plenty of cloth there.

I'll get back to you when the summer version of TLD is introduced.  I can identify edible plants and mushrooms, but I can't shoot worth a damn if the target is moving.

Make sure you try the ones that are 100% maple sugar.  The ones that use cane sugar also taste good, but you won't get the full experience.

Mapeline is an artificial kind of "maple extract", though no maple trees are involved in its manufacture.  Adding it to sugar and water makes a kind of "budget" maple syrup.

If you're from a part of the world that doesn't really use maple sugar products, try some 100% maple sugar candies.  The flavor is incredible.  If they weren't so expensive I'd buy them every week.

Putting an ending time on the invitation is really brilliant.  It takes all the awkwardness and rudeness out of the situation.

There are some cliffs behind the trailers just outside the dam entrance.  With a little effort you can goat your way up there and be walking around on the high cliffs overlooking the hunter's blind.  There are a lot of big rocks and there that you can walk through.

No, not close to there.  You don't have to no-clip through any rocks to get in.  There is a nice little entrance.

I think there are even now some "out of bounds" places in Mystery Lake for example where you can walk through big boulders.

Nope.  I know which one you're talking about.  This one is really out of the way.  Probably no reason to go there ever, except searching for prepper bunkers.

No mods or cheats necessary to get there.  I didn't even get a sprain, though I was wearing crampons.

Good guess, but incorrect.  I know the one you're thinking of. It's quite a bit bigger than this one.  The first image is of the tiny crack that lets you inside the cave.  The second one is looking out from inside.

Here's an "advanced mode" one for you all.  Great Bear's tiniest (?) cave.  No "indoor" zone, but nearly 100% wind shelter.

I think I have, but I just chalked it up to me making a mistake somehow.

I really enjoy the "candlelight" mod.  It fits the game really well, and helps overcome some of the game's weird lighting problems.

If nothing else, acorn grounds are worthwhile because you can make the preppers pie with it.

I always have a heavy hammer playing interloper because it's the fastest way to get a wolf off you if you screw up and one gets through your defenses.

My perception of it was that it was a cost-cutting measure because that's what it seemed to be in the seventies.  I never thought of it as something people would seek out.  Now I'd really like to try it.  Maybe I'll order some Luzianne coffee.  Hopefully in a small package so I can throw it out if I hate it 😄

You can make a coffee substitute out of chicory root.  In North America it's a very common naturalized weed and is also known as cornflower.  You can recognize it from the pretty flowers that are very similar to the Crayola color of the same name.  If you decide to go foraging for some be sure to take someone who really knows their plants that can pin down the ID for you.

Back in the seventies I can remember my parents buying coffee that proudly proclaimed that it included chicory.  I'm not sure if popularized chicory coffee was due to the OPEC embargo or some other economic condition that affected coffee prices.  Either way, I've never tried it.   Let us knows how it goes if you try.
