Addendum: Now on Day 22 of this test with the Item Decay Rate set at Very High. Lantern is still at 100%. I'm concluding the test now. As far as I can see, the lantern does not decay.
I see thank you for keeping me posted on your testing

If it does decay, then it decays much more quickly IF you run the lantern right out of fuel. A ways into one of my 500-day runs, I repaired a lantern to 100% and it stayed at 100% for a very long, long time. Then, on one occasion, I allowed it to run out of fuel and it dropped immediately to 99% right after that usage... and then stayed at 99% until I ended the run at 500 days. I'll test it more thoroughly on my current run (which is early into the run) and let you know what I determine.
Awesome I appreciate it.

If you can get in past the "guard doggies" first. 2 Stalkers dead already, lol.
Huh? I only saw one when I went but then again that was on Voyager.

Still think its possible, but you might wanna hit up the heavy duty spawns....check Timberwolf Mountain plane, PV farmhouse and town, gas station in costal highway, train wreck above ravine, and last but not least, all the nook and cranny in the cannery at BI......Iv found a round or two before with the previous update but thought It was a bug, but they was hiding in very difficult to get to places. Behind cupboards, under furniture, ect. ect.
Speaking of the cannery in bleak Inlet in the room with the cabinets were one is broken there is sometimes some casings behind the broken cabinet door.

@XLWatercube I liked this question so I did some research on the topic. It seems you are the first person to ask this, so I couldn't find any solid data. I dug up some circumstantial evidence though that might help shed some light.
On a number of occasions groups of people have pondered adjacent questions, like "is a torch or a lamp more effective in burn time?" (so into which should you invest your lamp oil?). Apart from coming up with the obvious answers of weight vs resource availability, storms and high winds as a factor and things like wild life deterrent potential, all contributors to these threads and experiments reported the same burn time respectively for the lamp across the particular game version they were playing. Since we can assume that the oil that went into fuelling those lamps and the lamps themselves were of varying conditional degree, it does not seem to factor into burn time.
Hope that helped ^^
It did thank you.

Damn, I've been repairing low-condition storm lanterns all this time for nothing. I always assumed condition and performance were related.
I am reasonably sure the lantern degrades over time like most other items but I might be wrong.
Edit: I see someone has already beat me to the punch on the fact.

I have been trying to complete this achievement since I started playing the game. The instructions are simple: explore every interior location on the Mystery Lake map and the Coastal Highway map. Doesn't sound so difficult, but I am exhausted from covering the same two maps over and over and still coming up short.
Although this current play through I did stumble on a previously undiscovered clearing with a cave high up on the hill looking down onto camp office that I hadn't found before. In this particular play through I have also found the prepper bunker in ML, so I figured I must have found all the interior locations. So are caves with a warmth bonus considered interior locations, because the only thing that could be hindering me from completing that achievement is maybe I have missed a cave? I know I have entered every physical interior space that generates a load screen, or at least I think I have. Does interior space include cars? I kinda would expect that it does.
any help, ideas, suggestions?
Did you consider prepper cache's?
Edit: all of the possible places

I was wondering what storm lantern condition or lamp oil condition does (if anything) to effect burn time etc.

My personal prediction for what will be added is ammo crafting but that is a drill press so maybe a suit of armour?

Think you got enough crackers there buddy!?

Bow drill/fire plow
in Wish List
Posted
I think it is safe to say that most interloper players have seen the situation of oh no! I have no matches and it's foggy I think adding a bow drill(maple sapling and some cured guts) and/or a fire plow(cedar/fir and stick) would be a useful addition for playing longer games.
