I would say if we have the moose standing around waiting for you to shoot it 30+ times, we have bigger problems to solve.

The Distress Pistol is a deterrent -- it's not a hunting tool.

So you're saying that a Distress Pistol shot killing a bear is unintended?  I've had it happen quite a few times.

  2. Has it moved at all or is it just standing there?  Reason I ask is cause of this bug where animals die standing.

Sometimes they exibit other signs of life other than standing.  Eyes are open and they breath.  Sometimes all of these at once.

  3. After a recent stay in Whistler, BC where I went on my first 4 big zip lines I started thinking these might be a cool thing to have in the game.  How hard would it be to add such a thing?  Anyone else think it might be cool?

Here's a video I took of the first one on the course, just to help you all get a feel of what it would be like.  Please excuse my excitement.

Here's a new place for the discussions of all things pertaining to The Trader:

I love that you included the old concept art for the trader lol.  All these people that are thinking it won't be in the form of an NPC are in denial I swear. 😆

Edit:  Of course I could be wrong too, we don't know a thing about it as I said earlier.

It's ok to disagree but please keep it civil...   Everyone is entitled to their opinion and how they play is entirely up to them...

And a reminder that this thread is for discussing the dev diary contents only..

Sorry for losing the plot as it were and if my use of foul language offended anyone I'm sorry for that too.   Just saying they should calm down cause we don't know everything about this yet, it could be completely different from what they're thinking.

Why do people talk about this. A trader would defeat the whole purpose of the game entirely.  The game revolves around scarce ressources to survive and exploration to find them.

Plus talk about an immersion break. I'm all alone in the wilderness - except for the dude with unlimited ressources to barter for sticks.

    I think its a great update !

No reason to lose your head when we don't even know how it'll work lol.  For all you know 1.  It could be completely optional regardless of game mode like what they've done with the cougar.  2.  It may have a limited and finite number of items available,  after their supply of said items has been depleted you can no longer trade for them.  There could also be a number of other factors we don't know about.  Also it's part of the "paid stream" of content in the Tales dlc, meaning if you don't want it at all then don't buy it.  Oh and we already have infinitely respawning items washing up on ice in coastal regions.  How is this any different?

I know you probably don't want to give too much away but about the cheat death system.  Is it going to be different for each difficulty?  If so in what ways?  Like less lives or more devastating effects post cheat, etc.

If you don't want to answer that's fine, I can wait for release to find out.

Read through the diary again and it seems my question was actually already answered somewhat so nevermind.

"You can Cheat Death once, twice, three times, or not at all. At each death you’ll have to make the decision about how you want to continue, if you do."

I assume this is either our choices for custom or the choices you get for each difficulty, with 3 being for Pilgrim or Voyager and so on obviously.

I'm guessing you lose gear and pack contents... like say 90% of what you are carrrying...seems fair

"You’ll also have the opportunity to retrieve your pack with some of what you were carrying at the time of your death,"

Seems that is indeed part of the penalty but not all of it is what I got the impression of.

    Wow!

How do I add a gif?

    There's 2 ways.

    1.  Use the "ADD FILES" button and choose a gif you may already have on your device.

    2.  Click "OTHER MEDIA" and choose "Insert Image From URL" then type in the url of the image in the box that appears.

You don't need to complete signal void to do buried echoes any more.....

But I agree it might affect the sv if you have no signal..

Not true, you have to have finished it at least once.  And if Farber hasn't done that in another save and doesn't complete SV properly he will be locked out of BE.

The bunker is near the location already stated in one of the spoilers above so I won’t repeat it. If you stay at that site, you can go look for the disturbed snow mound during the day. There is currently a bug that if you use spray paint to mark near the bunker it will be revealed on your map (charcoal won’t work). To be fair, there is also an issue with the snow mound not showing up either, but it’s worth a shot vs leaving FA and returning. If you can find it and mark it during the day, you may be able to access it on the next Aurora even if the receiver decides to take the night off.

Doing things this way may or may not break the quest and Buried Echoes would be locked because SV can't be completed.  I wouldn't recommend trying to access the bunker without a signal.

The shortwave radio has a maximum range.

Because the airfield is so huge, you can't pick up the signal from the hangar.

      Hide contents

Go to Justy's hovel, which is a cabin to the right of the hangar, along the mountain wall of the region.

Also, there is an issue with the shortwave sometimes not picking up signals.

Swap to orange tracking mode, wait 5 seconds, swap back to blue

It will bug out when you swap between them if you get the timing right.

If this doesn't work try what I posted on reddit, I assume you're the same person because of the video and name.  I'll repeat this workaround here as it doesn't seem to be common knowledge.  Leave the area and re-enter during an aurora.  The closest exit for you would be the cave to ZoC.  It's around the crashed helicopter at the location marked on this map.

You could also try entering and exiting a structure but I'm unsure it'll have the same affect.

Now, that’s what I like: teases while we wait!

my theory was that we would get cougars with mountain pass release.

cougars confirmed for part 5, yay. If the new region doesn’t come this part, I would imagine we will encounter it in existing mountain regions. Hopefully it won’t be DLC-regions exclusive!

I have a feeling it won't be region exclusive but it will be restricted to paid content like the Ptarmigans.

Also I hope the update is happening soon, I'm getting tired of jokers out there saying it's not going to happen till next year.
