Same problem here. No rifles anywhere :/ At first I thought: a bug but then I see your comment.

Update: so far I went to: Desolation Point / Crumbling Highway / Coastal Highway / Ravine / Mystery Lake / Winding River / Pleasent Valley / Mountain Town. Right now, I´m in Timberwolf Mountain and still no rifles what so ever. That´s a new record for me. I have over 700 hours on my previous survival run, so I know the maps pretty well. By now, I´m sure that it´s a bug :(

Oh, and I´ve found 6 revolvers so far.

Been playing since the launch, more or less, taking time off now and again. Just started back up about a month ago with the new update that I was happy to pay for. That said, the game seems a bit out of whack for me. My first run at things, I decided to take it easy and do whatever the second easiest level is called (the owl). Anyhow, I spent 30 hours on the game and was doing well. Clothes were impressive so I could move around a lot, even in a storm, and survived a couple of bear attacks and was able to repair everything. Only issue is, I CANNOT find a rifle! I have started 3 other games after doing dumb things that I know not to do, and have been in a lot of the major areas frantically searching for a rifle SOMEWHERE. Have found 3 or more pistols, multiple flare guns, but not the first rifle. Food has been plentiful but wolves and beer seem to be spawning more often and in multiples. Seems like they put in more food and clothing items, which allows you to move around more and explore, just to be killed by animals because of low powered pistols, low ammo, and no long rifles (and likely because I am taking chances to try and find one)! Have not found one yet! I started each game on random spawns, as I want to find my way over to the new airfield, but want to be challenged in doing so. Current game spawned me in Broken Railroad...checked the hunter's lodge and maintenance sheds thoroughly...no rifle, pistol, or flare! Made my way through Forlorn Muskeg into Mystery Lake...checked all the cabins, camp office, and fishing huts. Found 2 pistols, no rifle. Earlier run, I went through all of Pleasant Valley, Timberwolf, and part of Blackrock...no rifles! Anyone else experiencing a severe lack of rifles in the game or is it just me? Still love the game, but I think the balance is a bit off from where it was...cheers!

Not sure about the rest of you, but since the announcement that all prior saves will not carry over to the "new game", I've kind of lost my will to play until the "new game" comes out.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My survival save is 1.5 - 2 years old. I still play the same one everytime....and all will be lost. :(

Thank you for the update, Raph!

If I may make a humble suggestion, I think a lot of players would appreciate if the new lead, Katie (I hope it's fine to use her first name like this), would post some sort of introductory post of her own, perhaps sharing a bit of her vision for the game?

The decoupling of Story and Survival is a great decision and as far as I'm concerned, with over 1000 hours of entertainment for the measly price of 7 dollars during Christmas Holiday 2015, I fully support the idea to charge a reasonable price for future updates.

Yeah, same here. It´s ridiculous how much money I paid compared to the hours I played this game. I just can´t wait to see more content for survival mode and you deserve to be paid. :) tbh: JUST TAKE MY MONEY ;)

It's time for me to leave Blackrock for the moment.

I have spent 55 days there and think that I have done all that there is to do except find the Prepper Cache.  I have travelled around the whole region so many times that I can't be bothered with any more searching for it.  I have cleared almost all the black patches of the charcoal map which was my main objective.

I was playing a c.1,400 day Voyager game started when TLD was Ver. 1.35. This gave me extra problems. All bedrolls I found were runined.  So I had only one standard bedroll, no replacments.  The other problem was revolver ammunition.  Ver.1.35 was before the revolver and before crafting ammunition.  This meant that when the revolver came out the shell cases were not collected, they were all lost, so I had very limited ammo.

    Spoiler
I failed to get into the Infirmary.  I wasn't sure if I should be looking for a key or a secret entrance.  I found neither.
Two places puzzled me. I thought that they might be linked to getting inro the Infirmary, but it now seems not.

One place was a watchtower on the right hand side of the prison, it is accessed by a rope climb. It had a metal trapdoor on the floor that couldn't be opened. I thought that might be an exit from an underground tunnel.  The watchtower led nowhere, at least not for me. Why was there a rope climb to it?

Another place that was very tempting was the lower floor of the control room on the west(?), left, side of the dam.  On this lower floor there seemed to be plenty of things/places to check.  There were lockers, and a possible exit, to where, I could only guess. There are a couple of small locked gates blocking ladders to that area.  I hung around for an aurora to see if that would unlock a gate, but it didn't.

It has been an interesting and enjoyable region.  It was surprisingly difficult by Voyager standards.  I don't expect packs of 5 Timberwolves in Voyager.  There were quite a few bugs, some of which could end your game if you didn't back up your saves.  I shall now wait until there is an update fixing those bugs then I shall return continuing a more recent Stalker game.

I´ve spent 540 hours in survival mode until now and only found 2 (!) prepper caches. I´ve given up searching for them ^__^

Yes, it sounds like it. I have gained access into the ammo workshop during the aurora, and once opened it stays unlocked.  Have you tried saving and completely closing out the game then restarting, and yes, waiting for another aurora to "enter" the code again?

Did you keep the note from the mine in your inventory?

I know that it doesn't let you enter the specific code, just interact with the keypad.  But if you kept the note from the mine in your inventory it should've allowed you to open the door.

Yeah, problem solved :) This time I was able to open the door. Thanks again!

Oh, interesting! I didn´t keep the note from the mine, so I went back and this time I kept it in the inventory. I´m back now and waiting for the aurora. Thanks for your  help :)

I can´t really. It´s not possible to enter a specific code. I just can choose the keypad and that´s it. I´m playing in survival mode btw.

Oh and there is some kind of "error sound" when I activate the keypad, as If the code is wrong or something...Any ideas? Anyone? :/ Again: I found the code in the mine before!

Did you enter the cade at the keypad?

    It worked OK for me.

Careful with the floor in there.  If you put tools to be sharpend on the milling machine on the floor they disappear.  They are still there and recoverable, just beneath the floor.

So the door with the keypad…. Did you read the note next to the keypad? You’ll need to track down the code.  Which is written in another note.  Which is found in the mine.
The door to the infirmary does not unlock, there is no key.  Have you played episode 4? If not, you won’t have found that this area is accessed through another building.

    So to recap:

Go find the code to the ammo room in the mine, come back and wait for an Aurora.

Infirmary double door stays locked, look for another access door which takes you to the top floor.

….if you learn that there is a key for it and the lower level floor can be accessed, Please forward!!

I found the code in the mine and waited for the Aurora: the door still doesn´t open for me :( Is this a bug??

[Survival] All cabins now display smoke coming out of their chimney, when a fire is lit inside.

For some reason this was a change I really liked. It's small, but it gives a feeling of life to the world for me.

That's my favorite thing in this update. I don't know why such a small thing is so important, but I really like this.

Yeah, but it´s not working in the newest region at least...
