  1. There was the time I was wandering around HRV, when it was first added. It was night and blizzardy and I just knew I was gonna die. I was trying to find any sheltered spot when I wandered off a cliff. I thought. It was only a short drop and I only got bruises and torn clothing but I just knew I was walking off Mammoth Falls for about half a second.

  2. I am 54 and a "cuss like a sailor" person. I can control what I type better than what I say but really, what makes certain words okay while their synonyms are "bad"? Who is the person that picked the "bad" words and got us to all buy in?😈

  3. All this time I thought it depended on where you pulled the torch from. 🤣 I seem to have lots of luck getting my torches between 25-50% by trying to pull from the "hottest" part, generally near the point where the logs come together to form a peak at the top of the campfire. I guess I just get good rng.

  4. I'm in my second run now. First, I started in HRV. Needless to say I only survived a little over a day because I don't know that map well. My second start was in Desolation Point near Hibernia. I have no weapon but a pry bar and didn't scout every where but I hit the trailers, Hibernia, the Riken and the lighthouse. I'm in the basement at crumbling highway. Just barely made it in before becoming wolf bait. I'll be starting my third day when I go back to the game. I've found 2 bags of KC. Oh and a can opener. At least I won't be wasting my cans.

Currently in my area there is a shortage of flour and yeast.  Guess everyone else is also making bread.

Yesterday I tried to make a loaf of bread.

What turned out was cheeky buns.

It is possible to catch wild yeast by mixing a little flour and water/milk with something sweet (fruit or sugar, even a grape stem) and leaving it outdoors. I'm guessing this might vary by area but it works where I live. I use it as a science experiment sometimes when I babysit my friends kids.

  6. My longest run is 100 and something days so far but I like the Hunting Lodge at BR. Moose shows up outside, bear and forge down the hill, caves nearby. It's totally the kind of place I would choose in real life. The only downside is it's rather dark even in daytime and I wish I could saw down all those stupid beds.

  7. I've been wondering about that stigma comment all along too. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've been wondering what this supposed stigma is about because it's a single player game so no one can attach stigma to anything you are doing but you. As for doing away with the standard settings, I am against that for all the reasons stated above already. There is just no way that any dev team could possibly anticipate and accommodate all the possible preconceived notions one might possibly bring to any game before playing the first time. I for one was ecstatic to find this game was not at all what I had been expecting. I haven't stopped playing since I bought it and I haven't even tried custom yet, not because of any perceived stigma but because that's kind of a reward I am saving for myself when I make at least 500 days on all the settings.

  8. Personally I see it as similar to the button mashing meter when fighting off regular wolves. Only real difference is the attack is more drawn out, and there is a range, mobility and the clicks have more meaning. That being said, I too think it would be cool to turn it off and have to wonder, "Am close to surviving this? Are they going away?"

Ya but we can still find out things that are happening outside of Great Bear or it can be local news clips and there should be an emergency transmission on the radio sometimes. Someone that works at a local news or radio station must have mention the coming cold/weather unless the temperature instantly dropped as soon as the aurora event happened and it literally went from "normal" weather to extreme weather in an instant and if someone left the music on the radio playing on a loop then it's possible a TV station has an emergency broadcast playing on a loop.

This would almost explain how all those people froze to death all over the place. :P

  10. Or we could have them just pack up over time. :D If you don't keep them cleared out the pack just larger and larger, sort of like the weather gets colder and colder. The larger packs would roam larger areas so avoidance could be done if you learned to track their movements. Yeah, I have an excess of imagination but now that I think about it, it could be a fun challenge. Wolfsbane.

Done deal.  And it occurred to me I haven't played any recently released games at all this year, so this is actually the only category I can vote for.

Me either. I have some I'm eligible to vote for. Bought two new games this week but I keep playing TLD instead of the new ones. :D

  12. I haven't gotten this yet and I don't know how long it will take. Achievement/feat harvesting isn't really my bag and in Pilgrim I rarely need to even light a fire let alone a bunch of them. This is a long way in the future for me. Congrats to those of you who have earned this.

  13. Oh, see, I forgot about the 500 day thing too. I had noticed that about the buffer memories and while in Milton I usually run from place to place real fast to check the various locations in a single aurora so that can help if you are fast and avoid the wolves. No idea how aurora wolves will act in Pilgrim but I guess I'm gonna find out. Someone in the forums here called Pilgrim a "cabin life" simulator and I like that description. I kinda like the animals running away because then I actually have to hunt them instead of vice versa. Now if I can keep away from insta kill zones and not fall into any crevices while mapping I might just get this done. :D

  14. Well, I am just 7 days into a new Pilgrim game to try for Faithful Cartographer and to get myself in the habit of "journaling" before going to sleep at night. Might as well try for all the buffer memories while I'm at it along whatever other stuff I might be missing. Should really see what achievements and such there are instead of being surprised every time I earn something. :D

  15. I completely missed this topic, not that I knew any of the answers. Are these things learned by reading gravestones? Computers during auroras? The apple over the cliff question really intrigued me. Now I am curious about searching out the answers to these.
