  1. close one for me..

Story & challenges win out atm because I feel starting with clear goals aside from 'just' survival suits me.

I think that is mainly because Survival mode is not there to win me over just yet. The way Aurora changes & challenges the player could be interesting but rarely impacted me in any way. Exploration / curiosity is a main driving force playing survival for me and some secrets / puzzles / deeper systems you would have to learn are rarely encountered (but then i havnt player too much.. ~200h). Overall it is the 'mundanity' that keeps me from really getting into it. I feel there could be 'meat' there to sink my teeth into, but i havnt found it yet *(strangely i know it should be there but this is what my bias tells me so take it with a dose of salt).

How is the work with the bear spear going?

As an addition to that question: Can you share what kind of spear are you working on? Is it more of an infantry spear or a renewable throwing weapon like a spear-thrower?

  3. Have you considered a foraging skill - as in finding edible herbs, roots and plants unter the ice and snow?
(I could see finding maybe acorns, cranberries, bearberries or burdock under the snow with a shovel or watercress, mussels, kelp and seaweed in water if you can break the ice. Maybe some plants are slightly fluorescent in the aurora light.) *[I realize the effort would be immense but maybe you are already working on this to a degree.]

Have you ever considered malnutrition as a possible affliction? *[also a possible counterpart for foraging]
(For example, if you only consume meat - i cannot image eating only meat for a year to be healthy .. gameplay. )

    edit: spelling & *[ ]
