  1. In my opinion, Raph has stated in the first Milton Mailbag, and in the February Dev Diary, that Episode 3 has no release date as of yet- we don’t even have any details on it, besides that it will be through Astrid’s perspective, and the playable area will be similar to Episode 2.

  2. Interesting- keep in mind that gun cleaning doesn't require a "mini-game", as it's not a hard task to accomplish. Tool making at the forge would be interesting, but what you do is just hit hot metal with a hammer; tool making and gun cleaning both don't need any time of quick time event.

Maybe fishing? Also, first-person firemaking is a very interesting idea: you have to manually drop wood from your radial and then surround it with stones that you have collected in various areas. You then see an animation of your character trying to light the fire

One of the most compelling — and surely daunting — ambitions the team has ever disclosed to the community has been making The Long Dark's sandbox have all four seasons instead of just one.

Is this still on internal roadmaps, and can you talk about some of the challenges and opportunities it would present?

    -H

    Nope.

It was said on their Reddit AMAs that different seasons would only be implemented in Long Dark 2, in the next game of the series

Oh is that so? That's not what I've heard. Where did you read that?

I'm genuinely curious btw, I don't why that sounded so passive aggressive.

Hehe don't worry about it, the way I write is not very pleasant itself, and it has led to arguments with people on these forums more often then not :S

This is a quote from Raph's reddit ama:

"Spring Sandbox would be in the next game -- let's call it 'The Long Dark 2'. Tips for any students breaking into the industry: work hard, network, create an amazing portfolio, make stuff. We mostly don't care about degrees, but we do care about seeing that you can create great work. Even more important is evidence that you can work with other people. Game dev is (mostly) not a solo effort. Good luck!"

So a while back a read that Hinterland was planning to add seasons to the game sometime in the far and distant future. Now I love this idea, they could totally make a 365 days year, kein problem. But as I was walking over mystery lake dreaming about this magnificent future I came to wonder; what would happen to the ice fishing huts in summer? I have never been inside one of these huts irl, but they're just plunked right on the ice, right? So what would happen to them in TLD should the ice melt? Are we just going to have to watch as the ice cracks and the huts sink? Or would it be reasonable to give the player the option to move the huts somehow to the safer grounds so they could be used the next winter?

I really want to hear if anyone has any ideas, because it would kinda stink to lose the huts, should Hinterland implement seasons to the game.

They will be making “The Long Dark 2” with the different seasons, which means that the Long Dark will not have playable seasons.

The Long Dark that we own today is in the winter, and Hinterland plans to keep it that way. The next game in the series may have interchangeable seasons.

That map is quite out dated but can still be used as reference. I think that Perserverance Mills is the coastline of that pink region. Now keep in mind that some float planes have wheels that can land on runways. So maybe there's a small municipal airport nearby. That pink region is quite big. But there's even that little orange area further up.

The whole point of the new map is that all of the small maps that been placed somewhere else.

At this point we don’t know if the map will expand East, West, North or South

Thanks. I've posted some things occasionally thank rankled people. In general I don't understand where the hate towards comes from but I get internet culture and I've come to terms with it. Often a small comment can be taken out of context and becomes a "thing". I'm also a vociferous defender of the game and team and so I don't shy away from telling people off when I think they are being unfair. I'm not perfect. But, apart from my family, this game means everything to me, and I've been working 15 yrs to get here. Not making excuses, just showing that this is a personal work of deep passion and not some corporate thing.

I really don't think that the dislike for the countdown had anything to do with "internet culture" .....

Anyways, I've played games such as Civ where there is no discussion in between devs and the players; Firaxis overall unfortunately seems to be like this. Hinterland is probably one of the best studios at being in constant communication with their players, and I would like to congratulate you and your team for the work you've done.

The Long Dark I would say is possibly the best survival game ever made, and you should all rightfully be proud of The Long Dark and it's impact on the industry.

Hello , thanks for the news ) , I wanted to ask , but this location will be in the Sandbox ? and I saw on the video the piano , it is decor or there will be play ? Yes and the water tower . I hope there is water there )

The tower seems broken and cracked so I wouldn't expect any water at all...

The new Sandbox maps will not be available on August 1st; because most of use would probably just go to the new maps if they were open on Sandbox and therefore get familiar with the locations, I think that it's a smart idea to keep us in the unknown for now.
