  1. Hyped. I am sure I will have pleasure to play in that new region. But I also hope that the next and final region will put the beauty of nature back in the spotlight. A nature preserved from infrastructure and pollution. Lakes, river, forests, etc.

But why though? We can already get infinite water when at a campfire anyway

It's sometimes impossible to find matches or any other fire starter. And it's just a question of coherence, when you see free water, it's normal to be able to collect it.

  3. Hello dear Hinterland community and devs,

I really love the simple visual of the coal map without item and location indicators. Could it be possible to set an option to have it like this by defaut, instead of desactivating it every time I open the map ?

Snow balls for distraction tactics and making snowmen... I would be totally on board for both of these.  It would be fun to be able to make a snowperson and outfit them with spare clothes :)

Agree. Give us some simple joy into this harsh world.

  5. I sware I really need it 😄! 40 days now without socks/shoes. Without manufactured soks/shoes, what I would do in real life is putting some clothes on my feet to avoid cold and frosbite. I can't understand thats is not possible yet in game.

    Interloper ?

Custom settings, with minimal ressources (but high durability). The idea of improvised socks take its origin in my actual experience. Beyond that, I think it should be coherent to be able to craft them while it's possible to craft improvised bonnets and gloves.

Avalanches of snow would be fun. Or even snow falls from walking under trees that would instantly lower hp + soak your outer clothes. I keep thinking the game needs more reasons to make us look up. Too busy picking sticks off the ground. Lol

    Great ideas.

“By the time The Long Dark is finished” is the saddest words I’ll ever see written from you Raph. I don’t want it to end 😔

I don't want to read these words again. 🫣 Sadest line of words I have ever read.

I imagined that a second DLC could raise after the completion of this one, ensuring economic foundations for Hinterland, and a prolonged life for The Long Dark.

  9. For the first three episodes, the script is good, and I really liked Jeremiah and the wilderness setting of the episode 2.
Good tutorials included in the start of the game.
    The soundtrack is beautiful.
The only shortcomings are somewhat daunting fetch quests, even if they were improved a few years ago by the "Redux" update.

The weariness of fetch quests is felt less in episode 4.
On the other hand, the scenario is in my opinion my good. In a game where nature is so beautiful and intense and striking, it is very frustrating to spend 50% of the time in tunnels and other buildings.
Like what the last Jurassic World offers, where we see dinosaurs in hangars and tunnels 90% of the time. It's like watching a movie called "Beauty of Wildlife" with an urban underground backdrop. Disappointed by that.
I hope episode 5 will feature more nature.
I really didn't appreciate being warned of the point of no return once it was passed... The only way to finish the side quests was to load a previous game! What I couldn't do because I had saved manually after this point of no return (and before reading the warning which occurs a little later) for fear of the game crashing.
    - And yes, this episode has many more bugs than before, even on August 27, 2023, long after its release, and very annoying: freezes then crashes and even shutdown of my PC (rare bug in the community), cinematic bugs and crucial animations (part of cutscenes!) which should trigger automatically to progress (similar, you will have to reload the game).

Finally finished, technically laborious. I take the sentimental part that it does not change my love for this game and this studio.

Survival mode remains my favorite, although I like having lore through story mode. It might be better if episode 5 is the last one.
Now, Hinterland may have found the perfect combination of sandbox and story via the DLC "Tales from the Far Territories" which includes mini stories in the survival mode; the famous "tales"!

  10. I remember that the old roadmap mentionned a "full seasonal" system. I know it's now obsolete. But, with the idea of DLC (after TFTFT), couldn't the idea revive? Wouldn't be great to release a "season environment per season pass" ? 2024: spring, 2025: summer 2026: autumn ?

  11. Two questions:

    - For the moment, whatever the clothes the character wears, there are always the same that are displayed on first person animations. You mention new animations to come, but do you will finish implement modelizations to represent the clothes that are actually worn by the character?

    - The bear spear was announced as a possibility just after when episode 1 and two was launched. Is it still a possibility to have it though the DLC?
