Atmosphere.

That feeling of being on your own in a desolate, barren wilderness with only your wits and a few scavenged supplies to survive on. Major props to the audio team (or dude?) for really maximizing the atmospheric potential of the game.

As someone who camps in bear country a lot my main tip is to cook and store your food at least 100 feet from where you're sleeping.

Also sun dried dead moss makes for great tinder.
