SargeOOSeven
Hello, I have some ideas that I think would fit well within the setting. First would be making charcoal a less efficient option for forging in addition to coal. I think for balance I would make it have a 10 minute burn time adding +5C to temperature. I also think that coal should no longer have a respawn or at least a decreased rate maybe spawning back after 30 days. In addition, I would like to see tinder being used as a fuel source after level 3 of fire making with tinder bundles, cat tail heads and birch bark lasting 2 minutes and adding 0.5C to temperature. This would allow a use for tinder further into the game or at least let you burn it instead of taking up space or littering your base. I also propose the addition of 2 new items: the charcoal tin and char cloth The charcoal tin would be a small container crafted at a workbench from a tin can and 1 piece of scrap metal and would be place on a hot spot similarly to a tin can or pot but would allow you to "cook" a stick into charcoal with a 20 minute cook time and would allow you to produce char cloth by "cooking" cloth also for 20 minutes. Charcloth would be a tinder piece that would grant +15% chance to starting the fire. This is my first post so please give your feedback and ask any questions if I can clarify
Mavgrim
Regarding the further usability of tinder items - yes, agree. A book burns for about 20 minutes in the game - a newspaper should give us a couple minutes as well, especially when piled up on a fire. Actual tinder could cut the time to start a fire in half at lvl3 and above when optionally used - would reduce the number of items in the world and the time we have to look patiently at a circle. 😉
