Game save/load issue Wintermute...

Hello all,  I've had Long Dark since beta.  I have a situation in Wintermute.  I've been attacked  by a wolf just before running into a church.  The game automatically saved just as I entered the door and I die.  This repeats each time.  Is there an option to recover my progress that I'm not seeing or do I have to start from the beggining every time I die?
