Game "stole" my bearskin

I was crafting a bearskin coat. Had almost completed it, then ran out of light. I needed 0.12 more hours (of the original 25) to complete it. At this point I had one gut and no bearskins in my inventory, plus the almost completed bearskin coat. Went to sleep. The next morning when I went to finish the coat and clicked on the crafting table, the bearskin coat "card" was showing a red "X" over the required (but supposedly missing) bearskin. The only way I could finish the coat was to pick up ANOTHER valuable bearskin from the floor. In effect the game required me to use three bearskins instead of two.

I assume this is a bug related somehow to the fact that the job almost but not quite completed before dark.

Hm. I was looking at the Resolute Outfitter changelogs and saw this:

"* [Bug] Fixed issue where it was possible to equip partially crafted clothing items"

Wondering if this could possibly have had an unintended side effect leading to crafting failing in certain situations?
