Our Submission: "Couple in the woods"

    Category: "Best Survival Cosplay"

My fiance discovered your game back in 2014 while watching a german youtuber and ever since she showed me the video i was absolutley hooked by the game. Her hobby is cosplaying and so I thought this might be a good way to combine two things we both love.

So we went thrift-shopping, "weathered" the outfits to make them look more used/damaged, designed some skill books (in word and paint lol) and especially tried to recreate the iconic look of the characters with our makeup. Not to mention that on that day here in Austria it actually had 27° Celsius (about 80° Fahrenheit) :D

Thanks to our friend "isakucosplay" (photographer) we got these pictures to show you. We really hope you like them and thanks for hosting such a cool competition.

    Character: Grey Mother
Submission Categories: WINTERMUTE & Non-Core Character Cosplay

I am portraying Grey Mother, and like her, I am a mother. However, all my children have been spared from fatal climbing accidents (although my middle child Eliana took a trip to the Urgent Care after falling off a slide just last week). I think she'll survive. My husband wasn't home at the time, so there was no blame to lay other than on myself and her inability to grasp the concept of self-preservation.
I am home, alone, today, which has given way to me wallowing in the depths of my solitude. I decided to shift my attention towards putting together this cosplay, which consisted of me getting creative with items laying around the house.

First, is our electric fireplace, which would have been completely useless on Great Bear. Second, is the blindfold which consists of my daughter's tights and is an item my children believe I wear at all times when it comes to finding stolen chocolate wrappers or their toys littering every room in the house. And third, is an old double barrel shotgun, gifted to my husband by his grandfather when he was a child. The only useful item, if you need to shoot something twice and lose your hearing. I applied makeup, which was unfortunately not very much, to look like old Grey Mother. If you want to know more about the rest of my attire, fetch me 20lbs of firewood and some mouldy deer meat. Goodbye.

  3. Title: "We Who Fight Monsters"

    Category: SURVIVAL

To me "The Long Dark" is a love letter to survival and adventure, to epic journeys and cinematic grandeur. When I play these episodes, exploring the vast wilderness of their stories and tales told, of frozen horror and haunting beast, it gives that feeling you get when you're the first in line to buy a movie ticket. How once you do, it's as if theater magic were making it warm from where it was just torn. As if it held a whisper of a promise that something special awaited you. THAT is the feeling I get while playing Mackenzie, desperately traversing a frozen world of mystery and suspense against wolves, legends and the worst kind of predator...man itself. My hope, with this, was to give a little of that cinema magic back. Another inmate of BlackRock, lost in the memories of his own violent past, haunted by what the future will bring by tooth and claw...a man, much like Mackenzie, on a personal quest of his own. Either way, the journey awaits.
