  1. Fortunately it doesnt seem to be general issue.

Astrid spawned herself into a fresh world and is now constantly freezing 2 arrows down (temps~ -20C to -35C) with an 17C warmth bonus. 18 blizzards in 27 days (a little below average) and a constant slight breeze in her face thats slows her down to slowmotion speed as well as auroras every time she has to travell at night with smelly fresh guts in her pack. :|

On a few occasions in the late afternoon she's actually warming up outside when she's in wind shelter and carring a torch.

So it must have been either the global warming or the super rare 0.01% rng in the other world.

Though Astrid is still a little suspicious on that warm afternoons since they seem to happen a little too often as well as hypothermia once she got cold seems to develop quicker as it used to be.

Another thing that happend was (if it wasn't a hallucination due to hypothermia) some of the mushroom logs that spawn 3 mushrooms had only two and spawned a another single one after she had gone through a loading screen.

There might have been some slight changes going on 🤨

Still Astrid doesn't have enough evidence to proof that but the case will be further investigated 🕵️‍♀️

Indeed the temps drop a few degrees beyond day 50 but wind intensity and blizzard frequenzy are pretty constant right from the beginning.

The maximum negative temp is -271C or so. At that point atoms cant move anymore 🥶

When they first came out, I was all about finding the recipes and making everything.  With that done, I've reverted back to Vanilla foods (good ol' meat and water).  I've still got quite a stash of ingredients, just not using them anymore.  "Bang ain't worth the buck" to me.

    +1

The running Astrid almost never has all ingredients with her and the static Astrid doesn't need the buffs. ☠️

  3. An absolut Hinterland classic 🤨

I bet they did that on purpose. I can imagine them having a good joke watching vids and streams while having lunch in the studio. Like:" hey Raph...Raph..Look.. They did it again, they climbed down the stupid thing... again 🤣 🤣🤣"

  4. Recently Interloper Astrid spawned into the world of GB to conquer the canadian wilderness yet again.

After she had done some Astrid things for quiet a while she started to notice that the weather has been way better than it used to be in any of her past adventures.

In fact the temps were about -15C to -20C and with her 20C warmth bonus she wasn't barely freezing at all. Even in the early morning.

In 30 Days there have been only 8 blizzards occured. Actually there was hardly any wind. A lot of fog but no wind. As well as no auroras. That cant be right, can it?

Unable to figure out if it had to be like this or if the entire world was wrong or if it was just herself she now hopes other adventures and conqueres might have answers to that or experienced a similar journey. ☠️

  5. my Astrid has been perfectly quiet for over 400 days but since this update she totally refuses to shut up even when I turn the voice to 0 in the audio options.  Intended? Solution anyone?
Maped Locations are no longer shown in the journal as total numbers but have a green check mark in the details. Effect on the achievement ? ☠️

One of the challenges I enjoy doing is doing a Gunloper type run (or one with low recovery instead of Interloper medium) and spawning in either Coastal Highway or Mystery Lake at dawn.  You get 24 hours to make it to Bleak Inlet and then you have to try to survive there indefinitely.  I count both the cave to FM and the bottom of the ravine adjacent to Bleak as allowable areas.

You can't really do a one region run in Bleak because no spawn points are at the top portion and thus you can't get cannery access.

The 24 hours though does add a bit of strategy and decision making.  The more gear you try to scrounge up in that short window the more condition you're sacrificing.

One difficulty is that you can't forge up and some of the craftables need that improvised knife.  You have to do what you can!  Good luck everyone.

I played some of the one region only on loper lately but lost interest in it. It’s not that much fun. I did FM and PV.

Anyways, I struggled with the strategy for BI because with limited matches you have to plan the needed fires for water and food very carefully. In addition you need fires to fight off the T-wolves and the wind makes torch walking super hard. Which is double bad because of the lack of fuel you have to break down a lot of crates outside in the cold without tools. The coal from the cave to FM probably doesn’t respawn fast enough.

I did this a while back. The pack actually refilled itself from 1 tbw, but only after a long time and the original wolf remained scared. I left and returned to the region several times, it was not a 50-day-challenge or similar.

Interesting. I usually don’t play more than like 200 days and only stay a few in BI so I might haven’t witnessed a respawn yet. Don’t want to spread wrong information.

Leaving BI and returning later on never triggered a respawn in my runs.

On the other hand the T-wolves often seem kinda bugged so I’m not sure there’s a reliable behavior at all.

A lot of crates have the hidden sardines underneath on loper.

  8. Staying in only one region that long is indeed one of the more boring things.
You run out of things to do pretty quick in any region but BI is in fact rather empty.
Just in case you don’t know this, if you kill all T-wolves except from one of any pack they never return and the last one keeps running away.

I would let cabin fever hit and sleep it off in the bear cave. This saves fuel.

    enjoy your stay sir ☠️

Yeah I don't do the scare preds from carcasses tactic - I've seen it done, but I've never felt like I should do it.

Waving away wolves with stones .... yeah, I see that being stupid.

But yeah, in the end: everyone plays their game 😉

A lot of the animal behavior in this game is kinda silly but that is actually a legit strategy

Yeah, one of the streamers I follow Turkeysteam did a cattail accounting type run on Interloper and last I heard he said there was about 1600 cattails so it can definitely take you a good ways even without hunting.

I guess the amout of cattails is somewhat correct. Never counted them. Also there are around 90 cans, 15 boxes of crackers, 30 packs of jerky and chips, hundreds of teas and some coffee. You only have to loot everything very quick

Yeah, great point.  Not having to wait the 20 minutes was a massive change.  Think of how much it impacts people doing Deadman runs, too.  I think it really, really affected that.  All those moments of fractional loss from temp that added up, now gone or minimized.  Not to say it's still not difficult, but having coal get going right away was a big shift.

However, I have noticed that the fire is getting hotter from the coal a bit slower?  Is that just me?

That was the most game changing thing ever because honestly other than birch bark that you can just leave your are Not sitting in front of fire and pass 20 minutes of time or on deadman start a fire way earlier.

I cant remember in which update that was in but I was pretty disapointed when I figured that out.
I dont know if the fire gets hotter slower. Never payed attention that close

I really liked this thread. I am impressed with all your ideas. They are really very inspiring. I've been going to play Interloper level for a while without even creating a bow. Only eat what I find. Don't hunt for anything - not even poor rabbits :). To live in peace with nature - without killing. I would only kill time :) Or play as a total vegetarian - not eating meat at all - even canned fish :) And then see how long I will live on the Interloper level :)
I have to play that sometime. Or maybe some of you have already tried to play like that?

This is a nice way to play the game. I often play that way. You can stay  alive for quiet a while even well fed. If you starve yourself you could reach day 500 i think. Never tried to get that far. Thats too boring.

others things you could do are a naked run or at least no crafted clothing, collect all cracker boxes and beef jerkies, travel in any weather or goat down every rope climb ☠️

People don’t realize- interloper is not just the hardest level- it’s an entirely different game altogether. If you soften interloper even a little, it’s not interloper it’s stalker.

    Oh good Lord..

take a deep breath everything will be fine.

the whole game of interloper was killed anyway when it became possible to add coal to the fire right away.
so just breathe everything will be fine ☠️

well the weekend came to a rather sad end - still geting too cold too quick - ended in broken railroad - 1 day short of my 25 day record

It got too cold too quick, cabin fever got to me and i could't stay warm enough even in the back of a cave? Just didn't find any clothes tracking through

forlorn, mystery lake or even where I ended up Broken railroad only got me a couple of items - I did make some deer boots, knife, Bow and arrrow and my highlight

was taking a bear out with the flare gun - one hit and good night

wondering if it would take out a moose as easy?

Really need to work on my bow skills, torn between a stalker run - not using guns or trying a custom game with cabin fever switched off...

Sounds like a successful run to me. The loot drops for clothing depend on rng. Sometimes you find top tier clothes right away and sometimes you don’t find gloves for days. But clothing doesn’t matter that much anyway. Try a naked run and find other ways to stay warm. Use teas a lot. Coal is important too.

killing bears and moose with the flare gun is a common tactic. The Moose is harder to drop cause you need a critical hit

cabin fever is a pain but don’t turn it off. It can easily been avoided by spending more time outside ☠️

  15. I disagree . Survival mode doesnt need any more scripted stuff. The cannery auroa t- wolve thing is more than enough.
Actually it is basically finished and if you get bored you just managed to beat it- congrats

No need for more stuff. I hope there wont be the noismakers on loper ☠️

  16. Being a loper means to die again and again and again for every possible reason the game has to offer.

I had so many deaths where I wasnt even aware what had actually happened.
But real lopers never give up. Actually thats the beauty of the game, you loose your best run to an upredictable death or a stupid mistake, you rage quit, you calm down, you try again and you do things better this time - maybe 😁

Eventually you figure out how to stay alive and how to beat survival mode - maybe ☠️

a lot of the people I have seen playing... so I should correct myself, not most.. know the loot tables. SO say on a new start they spawn in TWM and they go to the Mountaineers Hut and find the heavy hammer... they know which loot table they are on and they now know where every key item they require for survival is in the game. It makes survival so much easier than if loot was randomized in every instance and not predictable and they are therefore playing the system.... if it was random and not predictable then  they would be playing the game.

I would love to have randomized loper loot. The more you play the more you know where possible and guaranteed spawns are. There would probably be way more rage quitting without guaranteed matches ☠️

You can also place a snow shelter close enough to use the workbench from within the shelter.  I wouldn't count on it helping if a bear shows up, but it certainly helps for staying warm while crafting.

Through out all the countless days I spent there I have never considered that. Thats brillant. Thanks dude ☠️

Overall CH is the safest region to dwell in. On clear days you can see the whole zone and cause of the narrow design it is impossible to get lost on bad days. Also there is access to an insane amount of stuff.
But in general you can live everywhere. If you have a camping play style I would actually ask the question the other way around. What is the worst place to stay? The summit or BR ravine? Maybe?

I agree. Though there are things about the game that really annoy me, such as many of the things stated in this topic, it is a brilliant game and in my opinion, very few are as addictive as TLD. There's just something about freezing to death slowly in the Canadian wildness for weeks straight that is so oddly entertaining.

I read a comment once somewhere that sums it up perfectly:

" ate dog food, drank toilet water, died. 10/10"

Annoying things? T-wolves, especially the sounds ☠️
