But that's how most things work... the more a person does a thing, the better one gets at it.

    • If we don't like having abundant supplies, then we should refrain from looting the world right off the bat and only go out to get things when the need is serious.
    • If we don't like having a huge pile of meat... then we should only go hunting when we actually need food.
    • If we don't like that our clothes are too warm... then we should tear them up, and use gear that's not as warm.
    • If we think that the higher skill levels make things too easy... then we should not rush/grind to get our skills maxed out (in most cases if we only use a skill when we absolutely have to, it takes a very long time to get to higher levels).

There are plenty of ways we can choose to play the game that will curtail most of the issues you're talking about.

I think this idea all goes back to what I call "issues with late game expectations."  I've mentioned it before in a previous Milton Mailbag, so I'll just echo it here:

It's sad that player has to make game harder by sabotaging himself

Befriend a dog only to watch it get torn to pieces by wolves or a bear?  Definitely not my cup of tea.  Also, this shouldn't be a Fallout 4 clone where one's companion would be impervious to dying and any domestic dog really cannot hope to effectively fight a wolf.  I'd definitely want an option at least to disable the dog companion feature (again, without the penalty of losing access to feats as is currently the case when the custom menu is used for any reason).

Watching your best and only friend die would be refreshing and add a little bit od spice to this game

Where is that bunker I've never had a duty to do about it?

I recommend you to find it yourself, you'll fell a lot of satisfaction when you'll find it.

They spawn in remote areas (usually corners of the map) it is worth to look for them

I'm always amazed at how many people have trouble with wolves in this game. I find I can always out-walk them all to the nearest safe house. Maybe most folks are sprinting around all the time & thus literally running into them?

I haven't been mauled by a wolf since my 2nd week playing this game, way back when.🤨

I think most of the wolf attacks happen at night, i heard on YT that they don't bark at night until they are close enough to attack but i ain't sure if it's true

@Rose of Madmenwell now I want to back to investigate! I am long ways away though. Sitting at the summit with a tail section of crashed jet.

It may be worth it if you don't have nothing to do, there is around 3 hidden loot locations and the biggest isn't the most hidden, but you should watch out because you can get stuck there easily, take an axe and a hacksaw or don't even try to go there.

Movies take too long to play, controls are horrible, can't even get out of the silly ravine in the 2nd episode - nice try - feel good that you got my $8 while I feel good that I didn't spend $30 for this nag. No tutorial? No how to videos? Really was hoping this game lived up to the commercials you played on Steam, but you have fallen short. Solitaire is more fun.

    You just suck lmao

  7. I'm gonna say this in English:

The shield means that you're protected from the wind by an world object, perhaps: car, tree, rock. And it means you get only very little windchill and you can set a campfire in that place even if it's windy, tho the wind can change it's direction so be ready to move. (it's super important to find a place like that when you're in the wild in the middle of a blizzard).

The red triangle means that "you're walking on uneven terrain",  if you'll walk on uneven terrain for too long you can get a leg, or hand sprain, the steeper the hill the bigger the risk, the more tired you are the bigger the risk, the more overweight you are the bigger the risk ect. ect.

  8. I would like to see foxes (the fox is already in the game, it's a pilgrim difficulty "logo")

,geese would be also nice addition. And i would like if wolves would track the player if they see footprints on the snow, just like in real life

  9. I have a different idea: it gives a warmth bonus ect. But it reduced your 3D soundq and makes sounds near your ear when you sprint, just like in real life.

But in this case there should be a button to quickly take the hood off so you could hear better

  10. I'm gonna say this quick.

If fatigue drops to 0, instead of losing health player looses consciousness.

Then you wake up when your fatigue reaches 5-15%

If you were outside and fell on the snow you're probably dead, or half alive.

If you were indoors you're probably fine, maybe a bit bruised because of the fall.

What do you think about this idea?

    Hi!

I feel ya. It can get pretty difficult to remain interested in the game at the late game. However, the purpose of a sandbox in a very definition is that it does not have a goal.

So, the solution to your problem is to actually set up goals for yourself. The game is not just about survival, especially in the late game. You are most likely going to have everything you need, and it is easy to spiral down into a routine. So, instead of doing that, set up goals for yourself. Say that for no reason at all, you will travel from your base to Broken railroad and do something there. For example, create outposts. or mark out the bear and moose spawnpoints with the can of spray.

The world is yours. It is entirely up to you what to do with it. There does not need to be a predetermined goal to the sandbox, in fact, if there was, you would eventually complete it too, and then you would be at the same exact situation you are at right now.

If you have trouble setting up goals for yourself, come by here and in a survival section of the forums, ask others to make a goal for you.

Lets give that a shot - if you would accept my assignment, here is what your goal can be:
    The moose hunter challenge:
Visit these areas to look & hunt for a moose. Take its hide and bring it back to your mainbase and craft the moosehide cloak out of it.

The location where to look for the moose:
Hushed river valley - Monolith lake.
Ash Canyon - the burnt patch of the canyon below the exit of the gold mine.
Bleak inlet - the washed out trailers area
    Mountain town - Milton basin.

Look for the signs of a moose in these areas. if you find the markings, look for the moose. If its not there, you can try to visit the other areas, but mark this down in your notes. If you cannot find the moose at other areas, you may come back here to try again. After you found a moose, take it down. You may only use bow and arrows to hunt the moose down. After you kill it, make screenshots if you can. Take the hide, tan it and craft it in your main base into a moosehide cloak. After you are done, make a post about it in Survival stories.

This should keep you busy for a while, it is a pretty reasonably difficult challenge, and at the end, if you are successful, you will have a moosehide cloak to commemorate your adventure with a story to tell about it.

Thanks, seems fun. Tho hunting is pretty easy in this game, even at max detection range

  12. I wish the survival mode had a goal, but no time limit and super hard to complete.

Perhaps: just like in that challenge, you have to find a flare gun, but it can spawn ANYWHERE on the map where normal loot can spawn, and you don't have the time limit.

... Just some people need goal, or they will get bored easily, I'm one of these people. I love this game, THE BEST survival game Imo, but i got bored quite quick (I'm on my 5th play trough, I'm around 90 days into this save, i explored the gold mine and i think i don't have anything more to do, i can easily reach the summit on TM but i don't see a reason to do this, i haven't been playing the game for about a month and i miss it.

Can somebody help me to find the point of life? (In the game, and in real life)

Or even make a mod about that Distress pistol idea

  13. We can hear music when wolves are stalking us during the day and everyone loves that.

But what about encounters with moose or bear? It's just boring silence.

Everyone would like a bit of scary/horror music while you're molested by bear, or even when you're in pain.

Perhaps there's more of a story to this. Do you recall any notes, corpses, etc, from those areas, and the Pensive Lookout?

I checked everything i have and i don't see anything about that place.
