Same happened to me in raven in survival mode. 

Pelt clothing are so heavy and have less bolubility (reduse sprint)

I wish getting better in mending make these clothings lighter and and more mobile. 

May be you can find and save a dog from abandon slide or a slide which it's owner freeze and be friend. 

It will protect you and you must feed it and pet it time to time whats your ideas? 

The loneliness of long dark is littel bit boring so A dog gurde that you can save frome abandon skimo slide but really rare to to find and also you must feed it several time to gain it trust then is will fallow you every where scare away some predators but may get injerd you must heal it and feed it  and pet it time to time to kip it loyal it can hunt rabbits and track your hunt.

We are not playing cullofdiuty it's a survival game.

When you are that hungry that eat plant's no humanity will be in you .

When you want to run from a bear or wolf  you my want to drop all your gear and run for your life and pick up your back pack later so it's good idea.

Some time I just spend minets watching dears, it is not hard for animals to survive . So I wish we could see more animals, but also rare(as rare as dears) and not easy to find witch make us happy when we find one
