  1. Is it just me or does there seem to be a little wonkiness as it relates to the way loot is distributed around the various maps? For example, I random spawned in Mystery Lake on a recent sandbox game and as I looted the map I could not find a single hacksaw anywhere as I scoured the area. Checked every outbuilding, every interior requiring a loading screen change and nothing. Did find 7 axes and 8 hunting knives. Had to divert to FM in order to get a hacksaw and there I found 3 hacksaws. By the same token, only was able to find two cooking pots. Decided to head over to Milton town. Found no less than 11 cooking pots, so now I have 6 pots at the farm house and 5 pots at the old lady's house. Whetstones... just not enough, ever. That always means a trip to Timberwolf to check the contents of the plane wreckage and that doesn't mean you will be finding what you need or want either. so, in your opinion, is loot density or item availability skewed? Maybe requiring a little re-balance? Or is it just fine?
  2. The cutscene which plays in wintermute after picking up Astrid's hardcase just freezes up in my game, latest version. The audio plays but the video just becomes a still image shortly before the aurora appears and the plane goes down
  3. Stumbled upon another little quirk in the game that maybe can be used to some advantage when cooking. I had finished cooking up a batch of teas and coffee which I placed right next to the potbelly stove at camp office. I came back to the stove the next day to cook a fish I caught when I heard the bubbling sound of boiling water. I looked over to where my teas are sitting on the counter and they are merrily bubbling and boiling and when moused over read "hot." I tried to catch the vapor coming off the cups with the HD cam, not sure if you can make it out or not. Anyways, not a great exploit, but kinda cool non the less. The tea and coffee heats up but doesnt boil away. gets hot and stays hot as long as the stove is burning. thanks for reading!
  4. Hello! I am hope for your help Survival mode. The game is broken when I try to enter any structure (building, cave, etc.). Live only outside is not suitable Started in Milton, at other locations did not try. version 1.35 Win 7 32 bit cpu i3 530 gpu gtx 660 ram 4gb What solutions to the problem have been tried: - reinstall the game - updated Visual C ++ 2013 12.0.40660 (there is still a Visual C ++ 2015 on the PC) - updated graphics card drivers - graphics set the lowest - turned off the antivirus - run as administrator - run in compatibility mode with XP SP2 - run through the files ".bat" - wrote in the properties "tld.exe" various startup parameters: "-force -d3d9 -popupwindow " nothing helped files and screenshot attached to the message P.S. I tried on another location. As it turned out, the game is broken at any time (not only when I go into the building) error.log output_log.txt
  5. Issue: framerate is in single digits when in HRV region (and only that region). Specs: Mid 2011 iMAc // 2.5GHz i5 // Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB // 12GB RAM It's an old machine but it still gives serviceable FPS. I used to have the exact FPS drop issue in the past but it was more local – only when turning viewport towards a certain spot in the map; or it was temporary; or it could be fixed by lowering texture resolution. But now most of HRV region is affected, making it unplayable. In the screenshot is the direction I can look where I get normal FPS. Moving the screen even 45° would kill it. It's not game's files (started right after updating) and it's not the settings either.
  6. Hi, well, it was really long time since i posted my last Topic here. I finally decided to change e-mail and password, i did it and well, i'm finally here yet again. You see, i have finally my Gaming PC and i'm really happy with it. But in The Long Dark i have some strange FPS Drops... i mean, inside everything is okay, i have this problem mainly during day-time when i'm outside. I have stable 60FPS but i saw that they like to drop even to 40FPS outside during day. I have everything maxed out, even those gauges. If i'm not wrong the problem is with Trees, when i dropped their drawing distance a lot ( to the stage of prepared Ultra ) the FPS seemed to be stable 60. But still i have a feelings like maybe something is wrong with my PC. Can anyone help me? By the way, thanks for replies! My Specifications: CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz GPU: MSI GTX 1050 Ti 4GT OC RAM: 4x2GB ( 8GB ) DDR3 1333MHz Power Supply: Chieftec 500W ( it has something like over 10 years ) Hard Drives: Some old SATA3 ones ( lol, really, i don't know much about them, 2 of them are Seagate and one of them is WD. 2 of them have something like 320GB, and another one only 160. They also have like over 10 years. ) PS. I'm really wondering because my GPU should have no problem at running this game. I see in recommended GTX 555, so it should run without problem. My CPU maybe is not the best, but it's also not bad, so i think it should also run this game on max. Or maybe is it my CPU or even GPU? I don't know, i'm just confused with that problem... i'll just say my GPU has around 60 degrees when outside with many trees. On games like TF2 on max i have only 40 degrees... Please help! I have knowledge in PCs but this problem... i just can't get this one!
  7. as many of you know beach combing is game mechanic which basically allows you to get resources that aren't renewable, such as cattails and cloth. But you can also find broken arrows, bullets, flares, saplings, and hats. Now i'm not very concerned about the others, but hats and sapling's i am curious about. Do they wash up on interloper? Or interloper level loot? Because it does take a while to run out of arrows and bows, but eventually you will, and you will run out of hats to wear. So do these things wash up or are all interlopers doomed to die since all there resources dry out?
  8. Started wintermute episode one. When I get to gray mother's house, the video where she shoots just crashes. Started a new one. Crashed again. Can't go on to playing the episode. Help?
  9. Im playing TLD on the XBOX 1 and now I suddenly cant screenshot or record. When I go into capture options it says "Game doesn't allow capturing" This worked an hour ago. The heck is happening?
  10. This: Steam forums post is once again causing confusion, and it is honestly getting old. In the Wiki, The Cooking Skill table has always said Cooking Skill 5 prevents food poisoning and Parasites from COOKED food. However in the image shown in the forums post I linked, the words "from cooked foods" are missing. This has been going on for ages, and people keep saying "I never got food poisoning from eating 0% canned xxx after getting Cooking Skill Lvl 5! So... no one ever will!". Meanwhile, plenty of us have gotten food poisoning from raw foods at Cooking Skill Lvl 5, but somehow we must be lying? Please, clarify, once again, on Steam and here, if food must be cooked to be free from Food poisoning risk at Cooking Skill Lvl 5, and change the dang in-game text to show it, if this is the case. An official clarification could possibly (but sadly, not likely...) shut down the back and forth arguements and any misinformation about this once and for all. Making sure the in-game text is complete and specific would also help greatly. Seriously, it's getting old. Jokes are all fine and well, but...
  11. Since the latest feature update, item placement requires too much free space around items, what makes it impossible to store items "realistically" outside of storage units. Until the last update one could eg stack cans next to each other on a shelf a way what was looking good, now you cant. I hope this can be reverted to the previous behavior.
  12. Seems like the new fire asset can be extremely difficult to place, even on flat ground. I was trying to place one up on the hill on jackrabbit island and couldn't get it anywhere near the house for that moderate shielding, or near the two wolves I killed slightly down the hill from the front door eating the rabbits. It makes staying warm hunting on interloper more of a hassle than it needs to be unless the animal bleeds out in the most opportune of places, which generally isn't the luck you have. Or cooking near shelters that don't have a dedicated fireplace already. The only place near the jackrabbit house I was able to place one was on the rock cliff directly behind the house, on the actual grey rock part on very particular, small places that ended up being very poorly protected from wind.
  13. Hi there! I have been experiencing some crashes lately with the game while playing Survival Mode on PS4. The game is fully updated to the latest version available for download from the PS Store. It did occur to me in the past (with older versions of the game) that, occasionally, the game would crash when entering a loading screen, then it would send me to the PS menu screen where I would get the option to report the problem. But in the last 24 hours it happened more than half a dozen times, some of these being while entering loading screens, but another handful when quick passing time between melting snow in a can and boiling the untreated water. It is funny that all crashes happened in Pleasant Valley, and as soon as I moved region I have not experienced any (fingers crossed). In fact, I do remember that most of the crashes in the past (if not all) may have occurred in PV. If the crash happens in a loading screen then it can be tricky because you may have to redo many things that you did before. If it happens while boiling water then it's more bearable as the game autosaves after the melting process and before the boiling. I have reported all crashes via the PS menu and attached the corresponding screenshots (you are given this option automatically), but unfortunately I do not have further information. If it happens again I can let you know the error description, should that help. Many thanks in advance for your support and my apologies for the wall of text.
  14. The quest apparently doesn't update properly on GOG 1.35. Even though I found all the caches, the map icon for the Allan's Cave cache is still showing and the quest's status remains unfinished.
  15. Game Version: Windows 10/Xbox Play Anywhere(not steam) - Build# 1.35 38054 () UWP Computer Specifications: Windows 10 - AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 When playing the game with mouse and keyboard on pc my characters view will randomly jerk to a specific point in the sky, the point is the exact same even after a restart/reload. This will constantly happen even if my character is just walking around without even touching the mouse. I was able to find a reliable way to repeat this on cue by entering the fire fuel menu, then exiting it, and immediately pressing rmb. This issue is nonexistent when using an xboxone controller, following the same procedure the game ran like normal with no random jerking of the camera. Switching back to keyboard and mouse in the same game led to the same consistent jerking, but only after some delay. Another thing to note, I have had this issue both in sandbox and in the story mode, however in my sandbox save the jerking occurred about every 5-6 minutes, and so far with the story mode it happens about every 2 minutes. These times do not vary after reloading the save.(probably not useful information) I am using a mouse with a button allowing me to switch between 4 different sensitivity options, but I plugged in another simpler mouse and the jerking kept happening so it isn't the mouse that is messing everything up. I also tried usb 2.0 ports instead of 3.0, that also fixed nothing. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the game, as well as "reseting" it through the windows menus I can't find where the files are located with this version of TLD so I can't post any sort of log Enclosed is a video of what I'm talking about, you will have to download it to view it : / Can anyone help? 16. I've been stuck on 99% for Snow Walker for awhile now, perhaps at least a few days. If I have 99% progress then that means I must have traveled 990 kilometers out of the 1000 kilometers required. To acquire this feat for a new long run I decided to play a few survival games to see how far I could. Getting more than 10 kilometers from at least five different sandbox games was easy enough. However I still haven't unlocked this feat yet. Am I missing something?
  17. I've discovered that the "wake player when freezing" setting does not work. I just died in my sleep from hypothermia, with that setting enabled, ending a rather long run.
  18. Anybody know were I can find a maple sapling on interloper in ML or MT? Thanks a doozy!
  19. Hello guys, I stumbled on a weird thing and not knowing if it's a bug or intended I thought I'd ask here first... I hope it isn't the wrong section! Anyway, I was halfway through happily crafting a moose cloak when I noticed that I could start crafting a moose satchel as well, with the same hide! I tried and it actually worked: I crafted both until they had only some minutes remaining (hitting esc is pretty useful in this case) and now I have an almost complete satchel (1 gut, 1 moose hide and 8 minutes remaining) and a completed moose-hide cloak. As expected the moose hide disappeared when I finished crafting the cloak. I'll put screenshots and details inside a spoiler tag to make the post more compact: The spoiler tag messed up and I can't edit the text so I'll copy it here: Nice way to invest in crafting when you have time to spare and lots of food, but is this intended or should I submit a bug report?
  20. Ive decided to take a crack at the whole survival story thing so after my last custom interloper was mauled by a bear I started anew. The only custom thing about this is that I start in Mystery lake so i don't get insta killed and ruin everything. Sadly, I cant provide screenshots as I play on XBOX. Day 1 of probably not many. Wake up at the crack of dawn freezing to death at the top of the clearcut. Shamble down the cliff somehow not breaking my ankle (Im playing as Mackenzie) and break into a sprint towards the logging camp as a group of wolves decided to right now was the best time to catch some lunch. Logging camp is completely barren accept for a pair of combat boots in ok condition. Pick up some crow feathers off a human popsicle and set my eyes on the abandoned gondola. The wolf that likes lurking in there has decided to take a nice vacation so it looks like i'm relatively safe. Climb up on the rock face so I can avoid the train wreck and not get mauled. Finally manage to get into the camp office before I contract frostbite. The place is completely picked clean besides some tin cans, paper, and a skill book. But whats that glinting in the corner? I crouch down besides some wooden crates and my god.... Its a magnifying lens! I get on my hands and knees and pray to the TLD gods about how thankful I am. Break down furniture for that tasty reclaimed wood, but wait... it was overcast when I got inside! Oh no, my thirst is about to turn red! Oh what am I to do?? I step outside and its crystal clear! Hallelujah! I cry as I boil water. But then the long dark gods laugh in my face and blow wind onto my fire. Least I got some water and rose hip tea, Decide to skim the lake for cattails as i'm starving and need food so I can go to sleep. I shovel cattails into my mouth planning the day ahead. Hoping to get to the trappers cabin, then perhaps skip back and check out the mystery lake overlook then the dam. If you want to here my struggles continue please tell me, also, i'm not so worried about wolves, weather, or whether not I have matches, its the fact I have no rifle and i've barely used the survival bow. Please give me some tips so I can use it without missing all the time. Also, has that arrows glitching out of the world bug been patched? Here is a detailed drawing of my opinion on the survival bow, enjoy.
  21. Good evening, -Windows -I've just bought the game, and I can't use the fire menue ! I have tried on all the missions, all the difficulties... It's very embarasting because I can't boil water and the game is blocked.
  22. So, I've noticed that I'm losing arrows, not to vanishing into the terrain when they bounce off, but when they stick in the animal. I've shot 3 wolves with arrows, followed the bloodtrail to the corpse, and all 3 times the arrow was vanished. I suppose its possible this is still the terrain swallow, but I was quite close to the animal each time and didnt see a bounce. Any time Ive gotten a one shot kill the arrow was there and retrievable, but if it runs off and bleeds out, the arrow is lost.
  23. when I get to the second day (day 2), I need to make a water, but i cant i take all from the place I make a bonfire but when i click on the bonfire I can't make there a water and I can't to the mission, what I supposed to do?!
  24. Playing on PS4. Found a few bugs/issues so far after Vigilant Flame update and recent hotfix. Mystery Lake Camp Office is glitched and will not let me enter the building any longer. Crashes time after time even after sleeping or passing time for a few hours. First time I have ever experienced this. Prior to it totally glitching out it would crash as I was inside the camp office attempting to sleep, pass time, or do anything that involved a progress bar. I am on day 67 voyager playthrough and had to move on to mountain town losing a lot of gear I had stored at Camp Office. Level 4 Firearm has a spelling mistake in the word “critical”. Rifle has glitch when reloading again like it did a few updates ago. Looks as if you reload rounds right through the bolt even though it makes the sound like you pulled the bolt back on the rifle. Just a few bugs... has anyone else experienced these issues?
  25. Когда я подошел к еде Зверолова и нажал вместо взять, съесть на месте и репутация не ушла, с одной стороны хорошо, но как бы баг.
