I'm a pacifist and a huge animal lover... I don't even kill wasps or bees and I have a massive phobia of both.😁
ah I see that's fair and not even wasps?!?! wasps are jerks.

can't make rabbit skin mitts without breaking a couple of rabbit necks
(can't make a omelet without breaking a couple eggs pun)

being able to scavenge bones could mean easier crafting of arrowheads at the expense of say less damage and a bone knife for cutting things in the early game.

military surplus would be cool too. say reproductions of say late 20th-century Canadian uniforms or a Mariners pea coat that'd be nice as well I'd probably wear it all the time everywhere even when it's not cold lol.

how about real rabbit skin mitts? It'd be pretty nice to own rabbitskin mitts, mukluks would be pretty cool as well.

There's no question that a CME is the basis for the world posited by TLD.
that's true but the size means a lot in terms of a CME as some CMEs aren't big enough to affect things much like the CME in TLD

Google "Carrington Event". Also google "coronal mass ejection" and/or "CME".
At some point our electrical and telecom systems are going to get completely destroyed by the sun (assuming we haven't seen ourselves off first via desertification permian-style). The scope of destruction is entirely possible, and in fact it's possible that it could be worse than depicted in the game. Cast an eye on how close that bullet was just this past March, for example: https://www.iflscience.com/the-earth-just-dodged-one-of-the-fastest-coronal-mass-ejections-ever-67962
I understand that current thinking is that the Carrington Event (which took out the nascent international telegraph system) was a middling-sized CME, but I'm far from an expert on solar events like this.
The Carrington Event seems very similar to the lights as two telegraph operators were able to operate on the auroral current alone much like how the flashlight works when the aurora is around as both worked fine with no battery at all.

As we all know Aurora Borealis is caused when charged particles from a solar flare hit the atmosphere but how big of a solar flare could have caused this catastrophic damage?
any thoughts?

It may just be my bad luck 😅😅

In story mode, yes. It’s part of the story.
In Survival mode, yes. It’sa great shortcut to the NW side of the map. It’s also where you will be able to use the signal tracker during an Aurora.
It also allows you to be in a location waiting for the Aurora to start, when you need to access the ammo bench for the first time.
I have found that the Aurora WILL NOT start if I’m camped out at the prison trying to access the ammo shop for the FIRST time. I always have to be elsewhere on the map, I assume by dev design. Because it forces me to traverse the map through Aurora timber wolf areas.
So yes, there is a point.
Though you may still find it pointless.
did not know I couldn't just wait for an aurora in the prison

There is a little bit of loot, depending on your level, ..
Must admit last time I went was to see if I could throw myself in the water 😁. If only they could walk over things that were a foot or two high.
i just got there i there a way to get into the lower levels there are two ladders but I cant go down em

They connect the prison compound to the power plant and some other points of interest within the prison itself, if I recall correctly… and they’re very easy to get lost in. Bring spray paint .
is there a purpose to go to the power plant tho?

Aside from a bit of loot, not a lot really... It is a safer shortcut to the plant though.. just not during the aurora.
I've never been to the power plant before so that might help

could they get me to the staff headquarters?

Can someone tell me what the point of the steam tunnels are in survival mode because I really don't know.

All my runs get a weird bug somewhere lol...
In this case I think it's more to do with the loot reshuffle and the new zone.. I'm not finding much loot in containers anywhere, and I'm not the only one ..
I've already done the tales anyway so it's not a big issue.
oh, its tales? I play on switch so I didn't know that but yea ur probably right bout that
What would you like to see in the merchandise store?

the canned goods in the long dark would be cool, pork and beans, tomato soup, and even dog food for your furry friend seems cool and they can survive the shipping process because they're canned. I have three dogs and I feel like the dog food would be pretty nice for them and I've never had pork and beans but i'd like to try. MREs would be pretty cool too.
