  1. I've always though of game developers like the wind - great when its at your back, but it can change at any moment, and there's nothing you can do about it. Now, however, one can give "feedback", and it might even be read! What a brave new world we live in. Anyway, I was worried for the direction of the game when I heard they were thinking to separate the story and the survival; the survival was why I came, and while the story was good I found myself frustrated with the ending. That said, the developers know best which way to grow - look how Warcraft turned to WoW. I was left behind in the transition, but it was a roaring success. Whatever comes, best of luck to Hinterland. Ultimately, they don't owe anyone an explanation.
  2. Probably this statistic already exists somewhere, but what do you think the leading cause of deaths is for the majority of players? I'm going to guess blood loss from wolf attacks gets most people, most times.
  3. To me, it's not so much about how many breaths you take, as it is about how you use them. And because I don't know what the "F" stands for - my condolences. : )
  4. Lol! This is probably how things would actually go for me, if I ever found myself in Will's situation. Side note on flares though - are they worth the weight? Lately I've been thinking I've carried flares There and Back Again, like they were my precious, but damn... they're heavy! Most times I just drop a decoy anyway.
  5. TLD must be a game made for irrepressible optimists. Who else would choose to die by wandering into a deceptively beautiful hell-scape, over and over again, thinking "But THIS time, who knows? I might even find some matches!" : )
  6. They look to me like Tamarack, but they couldn't be, because a Tamarack sheds it "needles" in winter!
  7. Recently left my hacksaw on the top of Timberwolf Mountain, I think. Can a deer be stoned to death? I may have to find out.
  8. Everything has an end. Sometimes this works for us, sometimes against. Fortunately, we live in sort of a golden age of gaming, where more new and interesting titles are available than ever before. I remember the old way of finding games - scouring discount bins, hoping to find some developer who understood what I was looking for. Like how I discovered Westwood Studios, and Paradox Interactive. TLD will still be here when you feel like coming back again. : )
  9. He died before his ultimate luxury safe house could be built? At the risk of sounding callous - while I'm sorry for his families loss, maybe there is a lesson here for us all.
  10. Welcome! I'm afraid, RingoA, now that we know you're an artist - I humbly request to see you draw Will Mackenzie as a furry. I believe that the world does need this right now, and you're the person to make it happen. I do promise to love it, whatever the result. : ) Maybe not draw him as a wolf though - the irony would be too much for poor Will. : D
  11. Welcome Walker! Seems you're an old hand at this game by now. Hopefully, you can impart some wisdom to the goodly people of this forum. : )
  12. Have you tried lemon juice on that bear? I hear that helps with invisible ink. : D Jokes aside, sorry for your irritating loss of that sweet, sweet pelt.
  13. Here's an article from the Smithsonian : "This Poor Chicken Got Eaten by a Cow" https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/when-herbivores-arent-poor-chicken-got-eaten-cow-180951115/
  14. A train enthusiasts ode to long dark. Beautiful.
  15. Side note - I remember reading somewhere that bunnies, deer and other herbivores will sneak a mouthful of meat here and there, when they get the chance. Apparently, this is a real thing.
  16. With which we may smite thy foe, in thy mercy. Amen. I'm pretty sure. : )
  17. You know - the one that Brother Maynard carries with him.
  18. I love how no one has yet spoiled the smoke for this poster. Kudos to the community.
  19. I once had the crunching of acorns stuck on loop. 0 _ 0 The crunching... THE CRUNCHING!!
  20. Well, I understand why the look - it's meant to communicate chaos. As to why just push stuff over instead of opening it/searching it? Because you're robbing the place and need to see everything on those shelves laid out in front of you ASAP, so you can GTFO before you're caught. Easiest way to do that? Dump everything on the floor. Sometimes when police raid a place, I believe, they do this same thing. So really, when you see that tipped furniture, it should hint dimly at danger.
