  1. How about that dreaded swing at Coastal Highway. The noise it makes! brrr! Always think it's something out to eat me that's making that sound. Also crow crows, not bear crows. 😄
  2. Thank you for explaining. 😊 I found it strange that the arrow, no matter which direction I faced, always remained on the left side and didn't move. Maybe I'm too far from stuff.
  3. Thank you for explaining. Glad it works on custom. This will give me a bit more room to tweak the settings to make it more challenging. I'm not fond of stalker since I'm more interested in being against the natural elements than agaisnt the endless wolves, that leaves me with voyager, which is a tad on too easy side for me. Another question. Can someone explain please how the radio works? I went to the airfield and found the radio. I fixed the airfield transmission booth. When I found the radio, a glimmer fog set in. So, I went outside and walked around the airfield a bit, but for the life of me I don't understand what this radio is supposed to be doing? It has two channels and neither is doing anything. I see the screen has an arrow. Is that arrow supposed to be pointing in the direction of a cache or another tower? That radio isn't doing a thing and that arrow isn't moving.
  4. Thank you. Does it work in Custom mode or only stalker/voyager/pilgrim? I know it's not available on Loper. So it's more like a quest than separate campaign.
  5. Hello, Where is the Tale? I don't see it in the game menus. I have the pass. Is this like a challenge available as a separate campaign or like a quest where you have to go somewhere to find a note in the free roam mode?
  6. Thank you so much Lee. That's a creative runabout. 😊 I'm not sure if this is considered a bug or is on the fix list. It just seems to be included as normal game atmosphere. Funnily enough, I find the blizzard rattling the windows quite nice when I'm hidden inside a cozy building, though, at the Airfield the effect is crazy in those log cabins. I'm a custom Loper player most of the time, can't say low wind variability is a challenge, but I do like my long dark silence. Now what to do about my started one year long loper run. Is this your cutie pie pupper on your avatar? 😃
  7. I've been wandering if we have a separate setting to modify wind effects. And if there isn't, I'd like to add my vote to the pile of voices requesting to re-balance the game sound that appeared post December update. It's as bad as waterfalls, except constant. I find the wind to be linked to the other wild life effects, like the wolf barking. If bring it down, I won't be able to hear other important sounds. It's not just the wind howl effect, but some kind of dull, thudding windy sound in the background that's honestly starting to make my head hurt after a certain period of time. The sound is a very large part of this game's atmosphere, and it's highly important to re-balance it to make it more pleasant. I don't mean just at the airfield. This booming seem to be on all maps and I want it adjusted.
  8. I believe the most important key is to move as quickly as possible early game. Unless there is a raging blizzard in my way, I tend to take the risk of travelling, yes even early morning when it's freezing - this means find a big loot hub, grab loot asap and move onto the next big hub until you find a heavy hammer. Collect and carry all the metal and coal along the way. Once you've got the hammer, beeline for the nearest Forge. You need arrowheads and knife/hatchet/both depending on how much metal you've got. Food: Interloper has a high harvestables availability - take advantage of it early game to survive. Cattails are a life saver. Teas are also a life saver. They keep you warmer during travelling and give you much needed calories, those 100 calories don't look like much but they help a lot. Smack bunnies with stones - two bunnies per day is enough to earn supper. Possibly deer carcasses - especially if you run into a hacksaw while looking for the hammer. If there is a shielded deer (ex near trappers cabin at ML in a barn) you can make a fire and take guts/hide/meat even without hacksaw since the fire is shielded. Drop those guts at trappers cabin to cure for the bow and keep walking to return once you have arrowheads. Don't carry meat or anything stinky. Drop guts to cure where you harvested them and either eat the meat or drop it into snow as a stash in case you are walking back through the area. Don't stay at any spot over a day unless the weather makes you - move it move it move it. Feats: Efficient Machine - by 10% burn less calories. Cold Fusion - additional bonus warmth. In my opinion this is the most OP perk there ever was. When you are starting your first hardest days, when you enter indoor buildings, the temperature inside might be small negative. If you have cold fusion this pushes you over the edge into plus zone where you're warming up without clothes. This allows you to loot and warm up. Saves my butt soooo much early game. Once you have your arrowheads and knife/hatchet - you'll be able to chop down birch and maple for your bow (unless you found the hacksaw before the hammer and cut them down already). Trees don't stink - so drop them on the floor while you sleep and travel with them during the day towards a workbench location - so you don't stay in one spot waiting for stuff to cure. If you had time to harvest bunnies for guts or managed to grab a deer carcass, you can backtrack to the cave/cabin where you dropped those guts, while you were running around looking for a hammer those guts were curing. Feathers are self explanatory, find around carcasses. If you have a spare gut - make fishing tackles. Bunny traps are good to have too, but since I move around so much I find them inefficient early game because I already moved on from the area by the time it caught something. They're more useful once you already have your bow and can afford to camp a spot for a longer period of time. Once you've got the bow and fishing tackle, you're good on food. This means you passed your early game and became self sufficient. Then it's simply the matter of fine tuning your equipment and getting the luxury items. If you begin your run in Milton - you are golden. It has a lot of food and you'll be able to get great clothes while looking for tools. This will make your Forge trip easier. If I start in ML or HRV, I beeline for Milton. ML is great, but it has matches problems.
  9. Interloper Run: Appeared between PV and Blackrock entrance. hmm... I'll choose BR way... AWOOOOO! CHOMP! 😱
  10. I found a rifle cleaning kit and a bullet casing on Custom Interloper. Open cave between Milton and ML has a backpack that can't be opened.
  11. Blackrock ammunition bench does not allow you to make bullets. Tried during aura and outside it. Pressing the make button doesn't do anything. Timberwovles morale meter is still askew. I hit one with the curator's rifle that dropped him dead within minutes and the dent this made in their fear factor is laugh worthy.
  12. Merry Christmas everyone! ❤️ My family tends to keep our cars in the garage, so, there wouldn't be much in terms of the tools or clothing since that's in the basement. However, we do keep soups and other food there in the winter when we don't have enough room in the fridge. Something that can be used as accelerant. I guess cloth to wipe the windshield inside the car and some notebooks. The car itself to rest in would make good shelter.
  13. Day 23 There’s nothing like reading a fishing book and repairing socks during a morning blizzard. Once it subsides, I take a peek outside, finding no wolf guard, and head out. I miss my cozy MysteryLake home. Before heading out, I leave a small gift, a stim for another survivor. One never knows when they might need a burst of speed. Its bloody cold, thus, I take some time off to make a fire at the landslide to warm up. It feels like the end of the old world is coming along with the end of the year. The snow keeps falling thick, rapidly covering up the tracks to the past. I drop a couple of metal pieces by the black train and keep following the tracks through the Marsh as the snow keeps on falling. My health is hurting, thus, I take another break at the read wagons. In this state, a toothless old wolf that’d lose a fight to the pigeons just might do me in. I sleep, boil reishi tea and push on. Mystery Lake greets me with a blizzard. The murky light really does feel like the end of the world. I am blessed that no wolves meet me on this treacherous road nor have I missed a turn to the cabin. By the door, I find two big chunks of the ruined deer meat, nothing good cooking won’t fix. As the meat simmers, I look at the stove flame in the comfortable cabin and I no longer wish to leave this place. The winter winds are growing stronger. Tomorrow, I will take my bow, hunt wolf and bear, go fishing, sew clothing, set up the snares for the rabbits and start building supplies for the winter to come. Once the winter is over, I promise, I will resume my journey and search for the other survivors out there. I promise, I will come and find you. Merry Chirstmas, my fellow survivor. Stay strong in The Long Dark. Hey everyone, this last day was recorded on Dec 3rd. At this point the game was lagging and I knew it was being worked on. I haven’t made it exactly to the last day, but although the game was giving me trouble, I made it back to ML to round off these series in a make sense manner. Have a Happy New Year! I’m looking forward to making new series with the Far Journey update. ❤️
