  1. Yeah I’ll do a second run trough on the hard mode applying all the tips I’ve figured things out along the way that I had no Idea could work after reading “do’s & donts. I only have 50% of the last episode left and just took a short vacation is why it’s not completed yet but looking forward to seeing what I’ve missed.
  2. Upstate New York, Finger Lakes region.
  3. Cool I was hoping there was a night mode but I’ve done very little reading and I had to play wintermute first to “keep myself in the dark” about any game spoilers or advice I didn’t want to come across, but 50% done with part 3 on normal n jumping right into survival interloper I’ve had the “well fed” buff and only died to the bear so far so I think I can survive interloper at least for a short time.
  4. Well I thought I was going to hike the great range traverse in the adk mountains it’s a 25 mile hike 10 mountain peeks ending with the largest mountain in the high peaks region Mt. Marcy. I made it trough 6 of the 10 by noon and felt amazing but did not notice I was pushing too hard the water was pouring out as fast as I could get it in and it was quite hot wich reduced my appetite eventually causing me to hit zero energy at mountain #7, here is where the trip became quite rough as I payed there exhausted attempting to figure out what I was going to do as far as an exit I realized I had 3 choices go back to the other side of mountain #6 and a long exit trail would bring me to a road but mountain #6 had a very steep rock face (hardest of the mountains) with the little energy I had I did not trust myself. Option #2 was to Finnish the last 2 mountains accompanied by a long exit trail that would Finnish what I had started or take a trail back down the mountain I had just climbed and walk the river bed all the way back to near where I started. We’re talking about 9 miles of river Ed with boulders and not to mention there were multiple Boulder hopping river crossings honestly quite confusing considering I did not study that trail at all and the zero energy. Down the mountain and trough the river bed was my best choice I could calculate. I climbed down mountain #7 filtered a liter of water and sat down to rest and woke up :30 min later I didn’tintend on sleeping and I realized I was no longer fully in control. It has been a long time since Idecided to stop and calculate my exit 2 hours plus and when I planned I had talked to my gf who was picking me up and I foolishly told her I made critical errors but she was picking me up at the end of the river bed by the end of theconvo( “no set time, just wait, I’ll make it out”). I started this little adventure at about 5 am andnow The Long Dark creeping in a a steady pace and cell phone service is no longer a thing down in the valley of the river bed. I’m moving at a record slow pace taking an hour to move one mile give it take, frustration was my motivation I was so angry at myself for the mistakes made. I made it to the trail head at 11:30 at night with my girlfriend telling me she was just about to go talk to the ranger about me 3 parking spots away. Out of everything that happens that possibility scared me the most I would have been so embarrassed. Tho my single day hike of 10 mountains and 25 miles was a fail I still hiked 25 total mountain miles and learned so much about myself it truly was a beautiful disaster

  6. First off I think the community here is amazing. Been on here a few days and didn’t really know if I would continue to visit the forum so I delayed this part. about me tho I am an outdoorsman first then gamer while I’m not in the outdoors I like real life survival or minimal backpack camping over long distances and to remote destinations(mountain peaks are my favorite and that’s where the name comes from) fishing, hunting, foraging things such as morel and puffball mushrooms, garlic mustard, I could keep going but just wanted to say I feel like me and this game were ment to unite my only regret is it took me so long to come across it. -thanks again for the welcome from the community, I feel welcome before even posting this. I’ll be around for a while!
  7. “Night Life” challenge...could it be done?
  8. Just some photos that legit seem like places in The Long Dark.
  9. So how many ppl have made it all the way to the bear without dying and all the sudden you start to rack up your death count. I feel like once or twice I was late on the spear but the way that bear looked at me I swear it was the devs just letting me know you die in the wilderness? -can’t say that I rage quitters but after a couple times in the caves and being later in the night I decided time for a break and he added back in now.
  10. I pulled it, because I knew it would release the flood gates in the bleeding in which I expected him to die just a lil slower. -was it me not finding it or do you not get to keep the knife you pull out?
  11. As I was reading other “wishes” I just thought a few of their wants could be introduced fairly easily, not that I know anything about game development. - Cooking Tripod blueprint-sticks (3), dried intestines (2), tripod used over a fire with a cook pot that would cook food faster possibly give slightly more food or provide a buff. -Smoking Tripod blueprint-sticks(3), dried intestines(2), (1/2)tarp (?) fire fuel, used to smoke meat for preservation purposes and could also use as a way to dry animal harvested goods faster but would require 2 days, have to risk leaving it out check on it frequently or spend a long night outside to prevent theft. I think the both of the tripod frames for food production should only have 1 use over a fire then could deconstruct for some resources back. And when crafting (at workbench) can craft tripod then carry and decide later on what to use it for. -tarp & 1/2 tarp blueprints- full tarp deer hide(2), sewing kit(50% use). Dried intestine(2) . 1/2 tarp 1/2 materials multiple uses but would be weight sacrifice. I have so many other ideas as I’m sure everybody else dose as well but We will leave this post limited to this
  12. Yeah I wanted to use wintermute as a learning experience so I could then be better at survival, after completing the first episode I was so satisfied I joined this forum. I’m playing on “normal” difficulty and only died one time to a fire right at the start but it’s a perfect balance of stress and satisfaction. -I may give Subnautica another chance after this but I enjoy the wilderness and mountains much more than the ocean
  13. Just got the game a couple days ago, stumbled upon it in the PS store and debated getting it (should have been no self debating). I’ve tried one other survival game being Subnautica a couple months ago and thought survival games just weren’t for me. I was wrong once again the balance, art, story, and soundtrack are nothing short of amazing. But with all that said is wintermute the best mode to start out in? It’s the only mode I’ve played n have been wanting to try the others but I gotta Finnish what I started...
