  1. I don't want to see Astrid or Will. It's not about disliking their appearance for me, it's about the characters. I would. Or at least I would prefer that option over the current one. Which is why I'm suggesting it to be an opt-in thing, so you can have your option if you so choose. What is the story of the sandbox mode?
  2. The TL;DR of the suggestion is - add an optional setting to remove Will's/Astrids portraits from the character screen in survival mode, replacing them with silouettes for character ambiguity. I enjoy making characters in videogames, coming up with what they could look/act/think like, coming up with my own stories. I remember playing the game in early development when there was no Mackenzie and no Astrid. There was only a guy and a gal - no face, no backstory, no detailed appearance, only male/female and some basic voicelines. I liked it that way, because it allowed me to imagine for myself who that person may be and what they might be thinking. Now we got Wintermute protagonists as sandbox survivors instead. I don't like it. I don't want to survive with either of them. I want the ambiguity back. Reading the "Future of the Game" survey I came across "character customization" as one of the options to pick for what I want the developers to prioritize. I obviously love the idea (I understand that no promises are made with that survey), but I feel like, at least for where the game is right now, simply adding an option to just replace Will/Astrid with a grayed out silouette to keep the character's identity ambiguous would be both simple to implement and satisfactory enough.
