  1. why didn't you set up more traps? Also you should have harvested the pelts (and guts?). 150 pelts costed you (120 KCal each) 18.000 KCal. That's actually a tip for interloper: don't harvest pelts and guts until you have a bow and can hunt For the worst place for snare I go with this one: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2460121239
  2. hoenstly I've never seen bears in their caves except maybe for the one in ash canyon. Which cave are you talking about exactly?
  3. Ok. Did some more testing. And no. It's the same amount. However apparently one of the bags ended up in a tree. 🙁
  4. If you have premium brand clothing you are the wolf
  5. Hi, so I usually quarter dead animals to process later in a safe and warm enviroment. According to the wiki I should get 5 Quarters (lol) of deer but the last deer only gave me 3. Now I am wondering if some of the meat got stuck in a tree that it was close to or if quartering in general wastes meat. Any help understand the mechanics? 🙂
  6. As far as my expierence goes: Animals just go into hiding and respawn as they were. If you hunted a area dry, the animals won't respawn after a blizzard. If there was 3 deer chilling at a clearing they usual come back. So your bear will probably not come back to the cave when the blizzard ends unless he despawn near it. Animals don't despawn during a blizzard when they are close to you... i got hunted down by a wolf during a blizzard once
  7. I'd say it's live rabbits in caves. I didn't even know that's a thing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2458522949
  8. 10/10 for binos from me. Scope not so much (cuz I only play loper lol). @UpUpAway95the flashlight is pretty useful to move raw meat around becaus you can easily scare of the wolfs I don't see a reason for character customization because no one would ever the character anyways. For me it would be enough to change the model of Astrids fingers because those spiderfingers give me the shivers, so I don't like playing her
  9. Is this how snares work? Because that's not how I thought snares would work lol
  10. If you want to have seasons, play Interloper. You start in Summer and it slowly becomes winter in day 50. Forever.
  11. If you think there's too much loot, why don't you play on Interloper (or interloper loot settings)?
  12. Ash Canyon actually has several work benches. And finding dead deer isn't too hard either
  13. Here's a tip: If you pick up precooked drinks like herbal tea and coffee, you can warm them up to increase your cooking skill. You should also warm up beans, soup, and peaches just to get the cooking skill
  14. Yes. I do. But if saves me from carrying 0.25 kg of pointless weight, yields 1 scrap metal and also saves me from having dozens of useless cans
  15. I suggest playing Episode 2 and 3 before coming back to survival mode. You can learn the maps of Mystery Lake, Forlorn Muskeg, Broken Railroad and Pleasant Valley without much risk since there quicksave and load 😉 Of course things change between the Story and Survival mode (you can't access the plane from the back side in Story mode) but for general knowledge, it's great. Also 18 blizzards in 25 days? That'a not much for Pleasant Valley.
  16. I maybe should make a fire. But I don't want to waste a match
  17. Because i harvest them for their precious scrap metal the moment i hit cooking 3
  18. Interloper, Day 8, came from Desolation point and forced my way to pleasant valley. That's all the cans I collected. I am not the only one who doesn't open them unless I have a can opener or cooking 3, right? Also my collection of book. Can you spot them all? What's with all the prybars? (Got one more in my inventory)
  19. Sunny days are quite common in Pleasant Valley. That's how it got it's name. Like Greenland. See screenshot attached https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2455272149 Rarest event in TLD is Pinnacle peaches giving warming up.
  20. I don't know if I played The Long Dark for a lot or a little compared to other players (Steam says 473 hours but that includes playing the campaign and idle time with the game running while doing other things). However: I player Interloper exclusively and I always know from the first view looks where I am (at least which region). It's - after some start - really not that hard to tell because every region you can start in looks very different to one another (Ocean, burned trees, steep mountain, obvious forlorn muskeg, obvious pleasant valley and if none would apply - hushed river valley)
  21. We all know it. We've all been there: You play on Interloper and find hundreds of matches that you don't wanna take with you because why? You save on them and only ues your magnifying lens even if it means eating cat tails for a day because you can't start a fire during a blizzard. So you drop your spare matches on the ground, neatly put them into a shelf and then this happens: Why are they upside down? That really bothers me for no actual reason. Look from below: Ok. That's all
  22. Yes. And I usually wonder why Mackenzie is suprised that he's tired after 20 hours
  23. Well... you can... you know... just sleep 😄 also you can enter this one mine which can only be entered during an aurora event.
  24. So. This is rather simple. We all know that during an aurora event, electric cables can burn you. But why can you not light a torch (same way as during torch walking). That doesn't make sense to me. I mean, certainly some laptops and computers become interactable during an aurora - why not cables?
