  1. I respectfully disagree. Once you're 100+ days into your survival, and you have food, shelter, tools, etc. then it can become about "what's next." Like Mandel says, Survival is insufficient. I think a photo album would give us something else awesome to do. Would be great if photos we've developed can show up on the map we've drawn as well.

    Plane Crash

I kinda like the idea of a plane crash where you spawned. I play on Interloper+ so wouldn't want extra loot (makes it too easy), but would be a cool landmark. That said, I love the carefully curated maps in this game, and if I have a choice of where devs should focus their time, I'd prefer they create new maps or new environments for me to explore than work on adding a marker like that to the start location and working it in so it looks natural at every possible spawn point (which you just know they'd have to do, because they're artisans).
  3. If game balance could be maintained, something like this could be really cool. I really like this idea, especially the journal thing. Maybe each player death could only go to one other player, and maybe there's a side-quest associated with it (like please take my journal to some location and bury it there in a rock cairn or something). If you do that, then maybe the player is "laid to rest" and it could also somehow notify the player who died so they know that perhaps their body was laid to rest or something. Even if you couldn't get any loot out of the player's body, it would be a great addition to the game...

    Harvest All

This seems dangerous (at least on Interloper where I play). Bad enough that I risk a blizzard killing me when quartering a bear or moose. 2 hours is the max I would ever consider doing something automatic outdoors. That said, might be a great feature for others. If they add it I can always just not use it.
  5. This would be an awesome addition. Agree that it should be a rare (unique?) and hard-to-acquire item, like the crampons.
  6. I may be in the minority, but I actually like the Cabin Fever mechanic. It forces me to be more strategic about things like where and when I craft, and to split my time between "safe" outdoor locations (many of which I would never have discovered at all if I hadn't been afraid of cabin fever), and my "base". I have managed to avoid cabin fever (but not cabin fever risk) on all but one Interloper game, and I've played almost 1,700 hours of TLD, mostly on Interloper...
  7. Actually I think the change is more subtle than that. Depending on how far you place the tea, it will either heat up then burn dry (takes 5-8 mins), or will heat up and remain warm (takes about 15 mins). Try placing it further out, and be careful of the "warming" time.

    Dried meat

I know this doesn't do the trick, but if you have cooking 5, you can pretend any cooked meat is dried meat, because you can eat it even when it's ruined.
  9. Yes, very difficult to aim with a controller. This would help.
  10. After having spent almost 1,500 hours playing TLD, I'm pretty sure that the bear is female.
  11. I like some variant of this idea of connecting players, but it would have to be done such that it's not OP. It would have to choose a random player to give the item to so you couldn't pass items to your future self, for e.g. Maybe the item also disappears after a certain amount of real (calendar) time, so if I put my extra Wolf Skin coat (which I think I actually have 2 extras..) in the bin, if someone happens by the bin in the next 24 hours, they can claim it. I'd love it if you could do this that you could include a note with it, and maybe the recipient could optionally write a thank you note that you could go back to the bin to retrieve once the item has been claimed...
  12. If flint rocks are added, I would suggest that firestarting with them should require: Flint rock Knife (for steel), or scrap metal Charcoal (you need charred material to catch the spark) Only if you have all three could you start a fire this way. I would also suggest that the charcoal is consumed in the process, but that the flint rock and knife just lose condition.
  13. It's not 8 hours to go from anywhere to anywhere else, except maybe in Dead Man when you have to stop and take care of yourself while travelling. That said, "Challenge Accepted!" I'll set up a new Pilgrim game and make the trip. Will report back. Probably won't be for a week or so due to other commitments...
  14. Agree. Maybe something you could do with the milling machine... Can't think what would be so useful though. By the time I could get to the point where I'd be able to (for e.g.) mill a gun, I'd probably have archery 5 and wouldn't want to carry a gun around anymore. Or maybe just a particularly useful piece of equipment, like a frame pack that gives +5kg (on top of the moose satchel)?...
  15. Wow, to me this sounds like a completely different game than the one I've played over 1,300 hours of.
  16. Neat idea. Have you tried doing this? One time I went to the vista location on CH and when I mapped it, it showed a wolf carcass I had lost. That was useful. I wonder if the second time I go if it would update? Maybe this already works this way...
  17. I didn't expect to like this idea, but I kinda do. I'm at the point in my current Birchman game where I have full skins, 17 arrows, a TON of bear meat just waiting for cooking 5, easy access to deer meat whenever I need it. I was thinking of striking out for a new map, but it seems like that wouldn't be much of a challenge. It might be cool to think that somewhere on one of the maps is a secret "new thing" that I've never found before. Man, I would spend the rest of my game looking for that thing... As it is now, I'm torn between continuing and starting over.

    Water Water Water

Yes, would be useful from my perspective to be able to refill a jerry can with lantern fuel from other fuel bottles.
  19. I get what you're saying, and definitely sympathize. When I started, I got lost constantly and it was frustrating. Then one day it all sort of "clicked" and I started recognizing things and knowing my way around, and I have to tell you when that happens, it's a kind of joy that I haven't had in any other game, because I know it wasn't just my character levelling up, but *me* levelling up. I don't want to tell you how to play or what you should ask for, but I'd encourage you to give it a bit more time and see if maybe you'll get to the point where you're happy that the game didn't give you this easier way out. Conversely, it would be cool to have a version of Wintermute without the map. That would be cool...
  20. I avoid wolf struggles with general success. In rare cases I get jumped and use the knife. It's very easy to recover condition on Interloper, so I'm usually more bummed at the ruined clothing than the condition loss.

    revers calendar

Yes, this is an excellent idea! Or at least an option to re-sort like you can your inventory.
  22. I think this is a cool idea, and love that it's optional. That said, I think you could "pretend" re-create this scenario yourself if you're disciplined enough to follow the rules. Play Interloper for 1,000 game-days *without* summiting Timberwolf Mountain (you can use the one in Ravine) Go to the Pleasant valley radio tower during an aurora to "find" the location of the flare gun Summit Timberwolf to get the flare gun Make the trek to either Desolation point or (even better) the destroyed lighthouse in Bleak Wait for a clear night and fire the flaregun Survive for an additional x days on that island waiting for the "plane" Delete your save and call yourself rescued.

    Android version

Would love to see an Android version that would work on a phone/tablet. Just bought a Surface Duo and would be great to be able to play TLD on that...
