  1. Myself having 3 different types of colorblindness understand your struggle. Also the kill mechanics being that only a head shot will drop an animal in 1 shot. Funny any time I've gone hunting, blowing their chest cavity open and splattering their heart and lungs on the ground seemed to work pretty well also.
  2. The ability to light torches with the magnifying glass! Binoculars. Rifle scope add on. [Might be too OP] It would be nice if the bear would actually bleed out after it's shot and runs away bleeding. Seeing as the mechanics are such that it's supposed to bleed out after 8 hours from what I've read. Also the kill mechanics being that only a head shot will drop an animal in 1 shot need to be fixed. Funny any time I've gone hunting, blowing their chest cavity open and splattering their heart and lungs on the ground seemed to work pretty well also.
  3. Pink snow is a new one to me. I was always taught that giardia was from animal waste that made its way into standing water, and moving water. I'm now curious about pink snow....off to google! Ok so pink snow is a thing. Apparently it's from algae that live in very cold temperatures. Myself being color blind I may have seen pink snow but it probably just looked brown [dirt colored]. Thanks for the new bit of info. An article about pink or watermelon snow. https://www.sciencealert.com/why-is-snow-sometimes-pink
  4. Giardia comes from animal waste. So as long as you don't eat yellow snow you should be fine. If there is a high air pollution problem then the first 6" of snow shouldn't be eaten as it collects the pollution particles as if falls. But in NW Canada I imagine there isn't much pollution and there is enough snow fall that I personally wouldn't think twice about it.
  5. Thank you, glad to have found this game! As I'm not a twitch gamer.
  6. In addition to snow being potable as it sits normally there is another melting method. When training pilots on survival after an ejection we trained them to only eat snow for hydration, as it will lower their body temp, if absolutely necessary. Aside from that one of the items in the survival kits was a wide mouth collapsible water flask/bladder. Think of a camel back bladder that's more square with a wide opening. The pilots were trained to fill the bladder with snow and then place it in between their inner and outer layers of clothing. This way it's not against their skin and lowering their body temp, and it is kept above freezing to melt the snow. Just a thought. Brick Wall
  7. I hadn't thought about that but you're right. Did you know that water from toilet lowls has tested cleaner than water from dentist offices? True story.
  8. I haven't checked if this has been brought up already or not. Snow itself is potable and does not need to be boiled. Unless it is contaminated/dirty, or has collected radioactive dust particles as it falls through the atmosphere, and then no amount of boiling will do any good, you would have to collect it via transpiration/condensation. The addition of a solar still would be nice yet only really functional on sunny days or inside a structure when the temperature is above freezing. Even then ice/snow will sublime over time but the vapor from it then is practically impossible to capture in a cold environment. Just a thought... Brick
  9. I am so glad that a friend told me about this game!! In the military I trained pilots to survive in many different environments after an ejection, and this is right up my alley!!! There are a few mechanics that are awkward and not totally accurate but over all I really like the game.
