  1. Something tells me that this isn't enough... Is it my survival instinct or my crippling hoarding problem.
  2. Yea, ok. I get what they meant by the name giving clues to where to find them. thanks!
  3. Same here. I was also scared it would kill me, but after shooting it with a revolver, I was confident enough to get a pelt from it. The same thing happens to rabbits that I trap with snares TheLongDark 2023-06-23 17-41-51.mp4
  4. I don't think I'm abled to find the new revolvers. I found 3... 3 revolvers just in milton alone, and all of them are the standard variant. And I really don't think this is just bad RNG.
  5. I've had a bunch of bugs that I haven't seen anyone mention yet. So.. here's my list A bunch of different audio issues. Mostly animal audio. Wolves basically don't make any noice anymore. They sometimes bark but get then cut-off. Obviosly the animal carcasses sometimes flicker and make loud repeating noices like people have noted. (VOLUME WARNING) TheLongDark 2023-06-23 12-50-40.mp4 I've seen this with rabbits when they get caught in a snare, aswell as a bear, that I shot but didn't die. When I came back, the body was doing the same thing. I also doubt that this is intentional: the cooking pot's audio sounds like a freaking car battery. (I don't know if it is the actual car battery audio or not tho.) (I checked, and it is infaact the car battery audio)
  6. Yea, ever since I started drawing things about the game called "Rain World", about two months ago, I've started improving rapidly as an artist. I've posted a crapton of stuff on Reddit in that time. Here is my profile if you're interested.
  7. I've actually already started practicing crossroads elegy and already know it partially. I'm glad I've got lots of time at hand. At the moment I'm spending most of it on just art. I'm pretty much just drawing all day at the moment... every day.
  8. Now only crossroads elegy is left to be learned. (And preferrably a better version of wintermute)
  9. I have been abled to play this for quite some time now, but haven't shared it until now. And obviously, the video and sound quality is still not great. As I recorded it with my phone, that was held up by a pencil inbetween the keys. I hope ya'll enjoy it! VID_20230606_114706.mp4
  10. I haven't noticed any banging, but i have been hearing a lot of creaking... In the middle of wilderness. I don't think The trees Make that noice. I've also noticed a lot of ambient sounds inside some buildings, like carter hydro. Ambient sounds are a good thing, but they are so freaking frequent and spammy. I don't know If it's a Bug or what but it often does get annoying.
  11. This kind of scenery really brings out the style of The long dark
  12. Mines have their totally own beaty that I often overlook. ...Or in this case don't look over my head.
  13. Looking further into making yeast, it seems like you can use a lot of things. For the long dark I think rose hips would be good, or if they added potatoes, you could most definetly use those, or you could use old bread. There is this method which is quite simple. Boil your potatoes and save the water. Into 1.5cups of the potato water stir 1 tablespoon of sugar and a cup of flour. Cover and leave this mixture in a warm place overnight. The next morning it should be bubbly and smell like yeast. Most likely only one of these is going to be used, but it is most definetly possible! And even quite simple Making yeast could also be limited by your cooking skill. Maybe you'll have a slight chance of failing at lower levels or make it totally impossible. Then at the level 2 or maybe 3, you will be abled to make yeast and further levels will increase the chance and quality of your yeast. Low quality yeast could have a chance to fail you when making bread. You could also make crackers or such by not using any yeast.
  14. That's amazing to hear! I looked up the lifetime of normal flour and that seems to work pretty nicely aswell. "How long can you keep flour? Any white flour, like all-purpose or self-rising flours, stored at room temperature should be discarded after three months; if stored at a cooler house temp, it can last six months. In a fridge, the flour has one year, and in the freezer, it has two." Since the whole world of the long dark has now pretty much been turned into big freezer, I think all flour has been basically preserved. The same thing kind of applies to yeast. And you could make your own yeast from some fungi, since the game already has similiar weird recipes. I don't think you realisticly could make yeast in the nature tho. I looked into that too a bit. It seems there are many ways of doing it, but seems like you just need some fermented fruit like raisins, water, room temperature and you need to care for it daily for a few days.
  15. I don't know about pancakes and such, but bread would be a really nice food to add. I suppose they wouldn't add it, because it wouldn't last long before expiring. Adding packaged bread tho would totally fit. Like the ones that are sold in plastic bags. And you could Make your own bread. Flour doesn't go bad easily right? Overall I think there could be some more vegatables to be found. Like potatoes found in some basement or cupboard. I know they have said they won't add farming, but it's not really needed If there are all The ingedients around. Anyways I would love for a more complex cooking system. Imagine making yourself a proper meal. Like fish soup.
  16. I also know that the spelukner's lantern is a thing, which is kind of similiar to my idea, but I think it could still be balanced.
  17. As hinterland is teasing us with the idea of mechanics in base building, candles have been suggested quite a bit. An alternative could also be a lantern. So I thought and figured out a nice way of implementing it. A slow burning, but less practical lantern variant. So basically I tried to Make it as balanced for it's intended purpose. Being placed around your base. Not only would an old hurricane lantern like in the Image be cool as hell but also extremely fitting for great bear and all of it's old infrastructure. It would only make sense if you could find these. pros It will run out of fuel a lot slower, so you don't have to worry refueling them Every day. (Doesn't have to mean that they last a full day) Just once in a while. cons they are weak and can break, they need matches to start, maybe emits a little less light, stinky. So I should probably specify. It is a worse variant of The lantern that shouldn't Be used, but can Be used. It is weak, so it will either take a big amount of damage or break entirely from impact. Like fall damage or getting attacked from an animal. Imagine breaking your lantern in a cave. That's what I meant by shouldn't be used. Realisticly it could also start a fire, but that wouldn't really fit in TLD. It could still leave a burning scrap behind tho, that can give you burns. It can Be extinguished or will do on it's own after some time. The lanterns don't have an automated lighter in them so you will need to light it with matches just like the torch. You could also light it from a camfire or a lit torch from the ground. This could also work with The combination of candles. If you have some candles around, you can pick one up and light each lantern with it. I thought that the lanterns would also have a dimmer light, because the model I am thinking of is a less modern than the standard one in TLD. And well, lanterns like that tend to be a bit stinky. So they are perfect for being placed around your base, but are less practical on your travels.
  18. While I am at blackrock collecting car batteries I have come to notice that some, if not all of the pickup trucks have their car batteries too low and can't be picked up. Not a big issue, but an issue nontheless.
  19. Thinking about expanding this idea, I also thought that you could make an improvised one from a hide. That could however be a little op, as it may be too easy to make. But in that case crafting it from scrap metal with a forge would be a more fitting solution. It could still need a cover for it to be made out of a hide tho. (probably just a rabbit hide) Also to make the canteen a bit more balanced it could reduce the players stamina bar by like 1 or 2%. It is a rather large object attached to your hip after all. The canteen could also be used in cooking, if the bottle itself is metal and the cloth/leather cover is removed during cooking. Cooking water would ofcourse have a 1 liter limit and it can't cook any solid foods, like meat. So it's basically inbetween a can and a saucepan. I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but there might be some models that can be opened up from the top, so they can be used as a bowl. So the canteen is be a better can you always have on you (if you do). And it can still be carried as a cooking item even if you don't wear it.
