  2. I did this a while back. The pack actually refilled itself from 1 tbw, but only after a long time and the original wolf remained scared. I left and returned to the region several times, it was not a 50-day-challenge or similar.

  4. Thanks for pointing out this data, as you suggest it's helpful to be reminded how non-representative parts of the community is compared to the overall playerbase. Now that I look it up, the data on PS seems even more skewed. 1.6% have survived one day on interloper, 2.3% have crafted a full set of improvised tools. 1,7% have conquered Timberwolf mountain.

  8. Sorry that you lost your playthrough, it sounds like you're sharing your save with someone else and therefore at least can share the grief and get back up on the saddle together. And thanks for the headsup, 👍
  9. That's true, you won't find a bow in loper. You can speed up archery leveling fast by crafting arrows and reading the designated skill books. Crafting one simple arrow will grant you as many skill points as one wildlife hit.
  10. Far cry primal is awesome. Have you tried the permadeath setting? I just don't see how I could finish the game in perma without years of practice.
  11. I would hope so! Wouldn't mind an easter egg like a section of the prison that only opens during aurora. Apart from that less is often more. Hopefully we get a great deal of, but not an excessive amount of, drawers to search and a limited amount of loot. Hopefully you're right, or there will be lots of players dragging their fully explored overwintered survivors down to the mines just to do from suffocation, dying with a whimper after hundreds of days. Hinterland did transfer the funny electrocuting pits in the new CH mine to survival even though they don't fulfil any other purpose than harvesting seasoned survivors.
  12. Learn how to pull tailing wolves toward deer/rabbits. You circle around the latter so you're not close enough to scare them away. The deer/rabbit will be placed inbetween you and the wolf. Which means the wolf gets his meal, or you do if you choose to scare the wolf away. It's also useful to use a decoy. Letting a wolf tail you a great distance can be a good idea if you know what you're doing. But it's also risky if you're planning to keep on walking for a while. If you don't know the wolf patrols you could end up being charged by another wolf and after the struggle the first one may try to eat you. Two wolf attacks in a row is always bad news in interloper, no matter condition or clothing. Even if you master all of the above you'll end up getting charged by plenty of wolves over time, even if it's just once every two weeks or so. This is why mastering archery is so vital in interloper. Here's the condensed lesson: When you manage to headshot 7/10 charging wolves you're capable enough to survive for a long time on interloper.
  13. Apart from what's already been mentioned interloper won't provide no overpowered food like the MRE, energy bar and Go! energy drink. You get to keep a lot of tools but no flashlights, firearms, axes or knives. Though you can find a few rounds of ammo in some playthroughs. You won't find no climbing socks, wool long johns and no military jacket. But we get the fancy military pants and thank god cause we're really short on pants in loper. Jeans, military pants and deer pants and that's about it. Definitely no ski boots, mukluks, insluated boots and no half-decent wool stuff like the long wool scarf and wool mittens. Manmade parkas and coats do exist but only in your cold dreams before the rustling noise of your windbreaker jacket wake you up from your worried sleep in the frontseat of a 30 year old, recently deceased car . Your best factory-made clothing would be the Mackinaws (around 3-4 of them in total), military pants, fleece mittens, wool toque, thin wool sweaters and the golden earwraps. And the wool socks, which will lure you to waste a huge load of cloth repairing them until one day you throw them away and arise anew as the barefeet winterking. That should be most of the items covered. Stay warm, stay safe.
  14. Yeah, map knowledge is key. I'm thinking if you're doing okay with interloper you already have enough played hours in you to know most maps inside out.
  15. I prefer the combination of Pleasant Valley and Timberwolf Mountain. When I start off in PV I usually head for farmstead first. My best day 1 loot from farmstead alone was a ski jacket, wool toque, can opener, cooking pot, hammer, sewing kit, whetstone, advanced tool box and fishing skill book. After that I go to barn for possible hacksaw (I don't do loot tables), Thomson's and radio tower for some clothing improvements and empty PV. By now if I'm still missing a tool or so it's the prybar. Afterwards I briefly scan the dam, pick up the flare gun in ravine and move on to TWM to get a clothing boost from the summit while I dry some hides in the hut.
  16. I've run out of leather, whetstones and matches for instance but have yet to run out of saplings of any kind. But then I have rarely gone beyond 500 days like some of the posters above. If I was about to run out of arrows I would go on to hunt bear only for the least possible arrow wear for the most possible meat. As you know moose won't bleed out from one arrow and will despawn. If I had already run out of arrows I would hunt by pulling a wolf towards deer (it's easier than the other way around), have him take the deer down and then chase him away. If he came back for the carcass it would be alright to fight him for some wolfmeat. EDIT: However use your wolf coat, not your bear coat, to fight a wolf if you're out of arrows since it will lower its condition. Without arrows you will eventually run out of means to repair the bear coat.
  17. That's a neat idea. If you can't find any skill books for archery early on you can always just go to the dartboard to level up from 1 to 2 and no more. But you'd have to stand at some distance rather than just walk up right in front of the board and spray it with arrows.

  19. Thanks for finding and sharing this, I wonder if this is known by the community yet, it should spark a lot (a loooooooooot) of discussion. I'm really curious how Hinterland is going to solve this. Is it doable with our current sandbox? Great Bear has grown a lot and it likely wasn't constructed with co-op in mind. It could be that they're planning a separate sandbox world with different rules where co-op is one. This is probably a few years ahead. If we stick with the notion that they'll introduce co-op in TLD and not a completely new game, we have a truly interesting time ahead. Congrats to all of you who longed for this!
  20. It's a logical suggestion and it works well with quite a few other games. However, you can already level up archery fairly quickly so I don't see the need for this. Even with a low skill increase it would be a high reward for no risk whatsoever. That said, you will still improve your ability to slay wildlife (though not the skill itself) by practicing hitting the bullseye at various distances
