  1. From a roleplaying perspective I feel that leaving meat outside and not having it be eaten by the wolves breaks the realism, regardless of whether the game mechanics are on my side or not. I mean, those wolves have eaten my hat right off my head so many times, I'm sure they would not pass up a porch steak. I use car trunks as my chest freezers for meat storage. I loved the introduction of the spray paint so I could mark where to find my food stashes later!
  2. I am seeing a "you are here" arrow on the map in survival mode now - is that new this release too, or did I just not notice it in an earlier release?

So on Xbox the way to access the filter functionality is that you have to first select an item on the menu - any item at random - and then depress the left stick to cycle through the filter options. If you haven't selected an item, left-stick doesn't activate the filter menu. On PC if you are having trouble changing filters maybe try selecting one of the crafting items and then trying, that was the part on Xbox that was non-intuitive and took some fiddling to figure out.
  4. This happens to me every time after using that ammo bench. (sorry, I just saw that you did acknowledge the filter so in your case it's a different problem from me - I didn't see the filter function at all!) What system are you using? If you are on PC I can't help, but I can try to figure out what I did on Xbox to get this working again.
  5. That incredible feeling of joyful relief when you have been stumbling around in a blizzard, fatigue and cold fully bottomed out, and suddenly find shelter. Those little cabins seem more luxurious than a five star hotel when you need them most.
  6. This would have been the first year I was able to do the Four Days of Night and I was really looking forward to it, so it is a bit disappointing to think I might not get to try it now. I hope it comes back in a future year. I played the Darkwalker event just long enough to get both badges. It was fine; the frustration and fun were about balanced. There seemed to be more of an element of luck over skill than I personally prefer. My first playthrough, just shy of three hours, I rarely encountered the Darkwalker and ended up getting killed by a bear; I had to risk getting too close to exit the map before the toxic fog. I also didn't realize in most of that playthrough that the green fires were on the map (d'oh!) - I didn't even try mapping since it was dark so I'd never bothered to look at the map to see what was there. I had way more fun with it once I realized it wasn't just good luck to find them before the toxic fog. The second playthrough was shorter - although I did get the six fires I needed for the badge - and I was constantly getting cornered by the darkwalker. Because it can cut right through obstacles and elevations, and you can't, there are limited directions you can go to get away from it; it was really frustrating that sometimes there is only one possible way to go in some maps (particularly in HRV) and if by bad luck that's the direction the Darkwalker is in you really don't have any strategic options. To me strategic options are what this game is all about, so this was not entirely my cup of tea. But I appreciated the art and music, and I always appreciate a game that creates spookiness without gore; the Darkwalker event is a nicely turned out minigame even if ultimately it wasn't my thing.
  7. I am playing on Xbox, so I haven't tried the time capsules, and the same thing happened to me. I had completed all challenges and was at 76% for the last feat, and suddenly last week I noticed it's rolled back to where I have two feats, the rest are between 25% and 50%, and none of the challenges are recorded as complete. It won't let me replay The Hunted Part II because it doesn't have my completion of Part I recorded. At least I got the achievement for completing all the challenges, anyway. I think I"m going to open a support ticket because it seems like a bug, especially if it's happening to other people on other platforms.
