  1. My bet is on May, but I’m not sure what year 😂 -t

I just learned that you can have a campfire inside the Maintenance Shed Office. WOW. Makes it even stronger. -t
  3. I think you misunderstand my point. There are no gale-force winds inside the snow shelter, otherwise, it wouldn't "shelter" anything. And just to drive the point home further - the office in BR is considered "outside", but it is very similar to a snow shelter. You get a temp advantage, and zero wind chill effect. But clothes don't get shredded when there is a blizzard outside. That's how the snow shelter should also be. That's what I mean by counter intuitive. -t
  4. I think that's the part that's throwing me off. Deterioration in the blizzard is due to wind, not temperature. But in the snow shelter, I'm not exposed to wind. So it should affect my clothes like outside, but like inside. It's only "outside" as far as starting temperature is concerned. I agree that it's probably not a bug, but it's not really how physics should work. -t
  5. I have been doing a lot of fishing out of a snow shelter on Interloper. My clothes (+ bedroll) give me enough warmth to stay warm through blizzards. However, I noticed how after just a few days of "living" in the snow shelter, my clothes on the INNER layer lost about 30%-40% condition. It looks like that the clothes get damaged as if I were outside during the blizzards. Is this a bug (that should be reported) or a feature ? -t

Ash Canyon - upper plateau where Foreman's Retreat is located. There's a bear that can be easily and safely hunted, but no wolves for miles. Handful of deer and some rabbits. I've levied up there exclusively for more than 50 days, mostly off of the bear. Not sure if with scurvy, that's viable. Bonus: outdoor crafting bench. -t

Front porch (right off of the kitchen) is considered an indoor location (hence, it's warm), so sleeping on the porch will add to cabin fever risk. Back porches are outside. If cabin fever is an issue, nothing beats BR. The office building next to the Maintenance Shed is considered outdoors, even though it's warm and sheltered. -t
  8. There was a time when wolves would take raw meat (incl. rabbits) when left unattended outside. Sort of similar to dropping bait mechanic. To be honest, I haven't seen that behavior recently, but it's a possibility. -t
  9. The new pro-move is fishing out of a snow shelter. Even in late-game interloper, you can basically fish all day and most night w/o the need for a fire. I have done it in ZOC and BR. Tried it in Mystery Lake, but haven't found a spot that works. Will try other regions. I suspect that it's possible in larger bodies of water that do NOT have fishing huts. -t
  10. Not really. Ponds that are deeper than 3 feet don't freeze solid. Water is the heaviest at 4C, so 4C water sinks to the bottom, and doesn't freeze. Most ponds in TLD seem to be deeper than 3 feet, and therefore, should not freeze solid. -t
  11. For a late game with scurvy, BR is great. You can build a snow shelter on the ice and fish out of it. I haven't found a spot in ML where's that's possible. -t
  12. Try Broken Railroad - living there for 50 days. It's a pretty good end-game retirement place, you just need to do occasional wolf extermination. -t
  13. I don’t find it confusing at all. I went from FA, kept right, and there was just one short dead end. Very simple. -t
  14. Bathrobe scienced it. It confirms that torches don’t work reliably, UNLESS you use them a certain way. Almost seems like a bug.
  15. Yes. The mechanics of the code / door lock are that the game tracks if you have found the note. If you have not found the note, you can't open the door, even if you know the code. Tower is close to the lookout, when coming from the ravine. Go down right of the lookout and follow the path, keeping slightly left. -t
  16. Yes, good call. Only issue is that you have to clear the area of wolves before doing that. Btw recently saw Wonz do fishing out of a snow shelter in ZOC. So strong. Doesn't work everywhere, but where possible, it's pretty sweet. I was able to do it in BR. -t
  17. Update on ZOC wolf behavior: They are afraid of fire / torches, but it's not guaranteed. Sometimes, they will charge from afar and ignore the torch. I have not seen them ignore a blue flare. Some speculate that afflictions might influence the wolves behavior - if you have afflictions, they might be more eager to ignore the torch or fire. Bashrobe has a great video on how afflictions play into wolf behavior. I think it's possible that the tweaked ZOC wolves have a similar mechanic built in. -t
  18. I have my first experience with the Travois. Needed to haul a battery. This seems to be the best use case for me. For al other stuff, it becomes really tedious. Due to terrain, you have to constantly load and unload, if the travois is full of small stuff that just adds up, it's so much busy work. -t
  19. With ZOC out, that won’t be necessary anymore Transition cave from FA to ZOC got plenty of coal. Plus the mine in ZOC. -t
  20. Same here. Foreman’s key and Mine Gate key seem to be Take only. -t
  21. Most likely yes, but why ? Once you know the mechanics of the gas in the mine, it’s easy to do / defeat. -t
  22. It’s tricky, and I have not used it yet in an encounter in the wild. I have used it only next to a building, while cooking / boiling water, being reliably able to scare them off. In the wild, I would use accelerant and keep it in hand just for this purpose. I would try pathing first, if that doesn’t work, use a flare, and if that doesn’t work (or out of flares), make a campfire that will have 100% success rate because of accelerant. I wouldn’t be that paranoid if I had any weapons, but I’m trying to survive 50 days on IL after having spawned in ZOC. So any wolf struggle would most likely lead to death. -t
  23. In my limited encounters, campfires seem to be successful at stoping them and making them growl. Then you can point a weapon, and they will flee. Also, you can shake them through “pathing” in rocky terrain. Torches don’t seem to work reliably. -t
