  1. The one with the rope climb down, that often has rabbits in the area too?
  2. @TwoFatCatz - I'm also playing custom and I'm getting the option to craft the down sleeping bag and insulation, also the new food items including all of the ptarmigan recipes. Obviously, I can't do any of those things as there's no ptarmigans, but the options do show up. Separately, I now cannot do anything with acorns,,,,,, And just pretend Astrid has decided to transition and is working on her man voice.
  3. Has a bug been introduced with part 3? Playing custom.... They show up in my crafting menu - description says "Acorn grounds" and requires the heavy hammer, can be done anywhere but I'm told I haven't got the requirements as I have "0/4 cooked acorns". I've 15 uncooked acorns in my inventory, so it appears I have to cook them before grinding them? Only I can't cook them either..... Apologies, I didn't bother with the acorns when Part 2 was released - I've plenty of real coffee so had no need for ersatz stuff. Now there's more exciting recipes, thought I'd give them a go.....
  4. No ptarmigans in custom? Surely a bug given that this also means you can't make broth which is a basic ingredient for many of the new recipes and can't use the down either......
  5. Neither do wolves, bears, moose or rabbits - they're still there.
  6. @Serenity- I don't disagree with that, though now even the main hydro level (the one with windows all around above head height) now cannot be looted without a lamp or torch. Regardless, it would be useful for Hinterland to state clearly whether it's WAD or not.
  7. Well - to begin with can you clarify whether the changes mean it is WAD that we now need a lantern or torch to navigate the interior of Carter Hydro in broad daylight? That way we can understand whether it's worth reporting a bug or not.
  8. Interesting - I'd already found the same ML bunker last night. Things are clearly pretty random, then, because the shape of my bunker was a standard rectangle. Also very reasonably stocked on voyager - not "wow" like in the video above, but certainly well worth a visit. 😁
  9. Yes - asked about the Carter lighting issue in the TFTF sub-forum. There's a few replied saying they're having the same issue - which isn't too many. But equally, there's nobody yet posted saying they aren't having the problem.
  10. So if there's been no announcement from Hinterland saying it's a planned change, can we assume it's a bug?
  11. Other than the first room in Carter, I'm finding that I now need a lantern or flare to explore Carter even at midday. This wasn't previously the case. Now I've had this type of graphics glitch inside PVF with a previous update (well before TFTFT) but this kind of looks a bit different, like it's actually intended. I'm saying that partly because when it happened with PVF it didn't seem to persist over a number of in-game days. That is what is happening for me with Carter. So, before I report as a bug - anyone else experiencing this? Is this how it's supposed to be?
  12. There's other changes to the maps, too. Discovered a new derelict cabin in Pleasant Valley, right by the water's edge and almost opposite the Lonely Homestead. I'm sure I've never seen that previously?
  13. I've not even bothered looking for the unique bow(s) yet, but a question - the standard bow degrades and isn't repairable, so for the new bow to really be worth having it must either; - not degrade - be repairable - or give you the recipe to craft a new one from scratch Does it do any of these things and if so which?
  14. @DaGnome91and @hozz1235- thanks both, now found it. Quite whether the multiple falls and sprains were worth it though, I'm not sure. 🤣
  15. "Just resting in the hollow stump of the tree he planted but they were my grandfather's best work." I'm assuming this is a clue to some sort of unique item? However, there is no hollow stump of a tree at the cache location, much less anything sitting in a hollow stump. What am I missing?
  16. Absolutely. And those things can result in delays and timescales slipping. Everyone understands that. But those aren't things that prevent someone saying, "Sorry, we were aiming for X date, but Y has happened so that isn't going to be possible. It now looks like Z date, but until we've solved the problem with Y we're not in a position to promise even Z as a date." Takes 5 minutes.
  17. Specifically on the bearskin bedroll, this is still an issue post DLC/post TFTFT. Had just repaired mine to 100%, camped out in the cave in the climbing area at MT before the climb out to the cave system leading to ML. Along comes Mr Wolf - bedroll is in the cave - I let the wolf come close and pop him with the revolver, so no actual wolf struggle. Bedroll reduced by 25% instantly.
  18. A moose can also spawn behind Quonset garage in CH and is a pretty regular thing in my games. No tree rubbings anywhere in the vicinity.
  19. My ineptitude and inability to learn from past mistakes.
  20. Personal approach, I guess. For me, the regions with forges, FM, BR and DP are not ones I want to spend time in early game - I want some decent clothing, some decent kit and something with which I can kill the things that are going to eat me unless I kill them first (at minimum the revolver and a reasonable amount of ammo and ideally the rifle and some ammo). Once I've got those, I'll go there, but I'm very much on a mission; grab the loot, forge the arrowheads and get out again as soon as I can. But that's just me.....
  21. TBH I don't think lack of skill with the bow early game is really the issue - the bear is a bloody big target, so it isn't too difficult to hit, even on lower skill levels, particularly if you can get yourself somewhere relatively easy to shoot from, like an inaccessible ledge or the porch of PVF.* The real problem with the bow early on is the lack of ammo - you're probably going to need to scour 4 or 5 maps pretty thoroughly even to find 8-12 arrowheads, which is around the minimum to make enough arrows for the bow to be a viable weapon. * - the skill problem with the bow can't be got around. You can help things by crafting arrows, but ultimately you only make real progress by shooting at animals and hitting them. So it's a false economy waiting to use the bow until you have a huge supply of arrows - just make those early shots count. As Mr Bear is a big target, he's a prime candidate...
  22. @hozz1235 - there's been quite a few blog/story type posts since the TFTFT update where people have talked about "the bear den at......not being used this year as there are no bones in it" so I assumed that to be the case. Also for me it's always been the case that bear dens without bones on any particular run don't have bears. With this particular run, the two other possible locations in ML don't have bones or bears - so I was guessing there had to be at least one bear on the map. As the Unnamed Pond den has bones, I thought the bear has to be there - but then got worried after sitting on top of it for 48 hours straight with a no-show from Mr Bear.
