  1. Just started playing wintemute episode 3, and i answered the call from polly in which she requires you to retrieve the basement key from under a vase, and bring her rifle rounds and the revolver. like i said, i answered the call, but i cannot interact with the vase and my misson journal still says that i need to answer the phone. help me plz

  2. I've been playing on stalker mode for a while now, and just now i decided to try interloper. I spawned in the middle of the ice in desolation point only to conclude that this situation was far to stressful and daunting, so i chickened out and ran into the ocean, because i realised that i had to feed my pets anyways.

I realised that that particular area of the game seemed neglected somewhat. the darkness and splash audio is simple and effective, and honestly i kind of captures that feeling perfectly. ( i swam in loch ness in just Underwear, as a dare. ) however i thought that more could be added to that area. like a struggle option, simmilar to a wolf attack, though much more punishing and challenging, perhaps if you did not make a suitable fight, you would be swept under the ice forever.

that paragraph wasnt particularly conclusive, so, to properly conclude, i think that a struggle bar for falling through ice would be cool, i guess, with a high mortality rate, because i feel like everyone except bear grylls would die once falling through ice.

I'm playing on voyager  mode and have decided to call paradise meadows farm (in milton)  home. It's been quite a journey since i first spawned! I started  in broken railroad, found a revolver, looted the map, went through forlorn muskeg to Mystery lake, looted that map, and decided i wanted to settle down somewhere. So, i went back through forlorn muskeg and made it to the farm in milton. all in 7 in game days!

anywho, i have begun to hunt deer and rabbits, and want to stockpile huge amounts of venison and bunny meat. Currently i just have the meat sitting in the snow, but it has only been a few hours since i harvested the meat and they are already 'Gamey'. Is there a better way?

My vote goes to the Camp Office in Mystery Lake if you're looking to set up a main, main base for the entire map.  I tend to set up 1 to 3 location in each area as bases (places where I know I have basic supplies).  The locations change though depending on where I find key resources since I try very hard to stay under my carry weight limit when I'm playing on anything but pilgrim mode, so I don't like schlepping a lot of gear around the map just to get it to one location.  You can make notes in your journal so you can remember where you've left key items.  As forges go, my favorite is actually the one in Broken Railroad (but the wolves are a real pain), so I often wind up forging at Spence's Farm.

If you don't mind climbing ropes to get in and out of the region, then Paradise Meadows Farm is a great location, IMO.  If you're inclined to want to bring a lot of gear to you main base, though, not so much... and the wolves running about the town are a big drawback.

Yeah, since posting this i've decided to go to paradise meadows, and have just arrived as i am typing this.

I'd say that whatever locations you've based at while playing another experience mode would work well. I don't actually play pilgrim, but from what I can remember while learning to play voyageur is that it's very important to learn to use ranged weapons and the skills that accompany them which are: stalking, positioning for a shot, controlling prey and predator behaviour using your weapons, spotting animals while you are outside of their detection range, etc.

So taking this into consideration, if you are using the rifle, starting at any location you've based at before will work well. But if your weapon of choice is the bow, I'd recommend the Hibernia area in DP. This allows you to forge arrowheads at the nearby Riken and craft arrows inside the processing facility. Katie's Secluded Corner has a guaranteed bow, arrow, and broken arrow if starting off early with a ranged weapon is important to you. Once you've forged a good lot of arrowheads (12 extra at your main base), then basing anywhere with a workbench wouldn't be a problem.

Ultimately, it depends on your play style. You've logged more than a hundred hours of play time already, so what I've said might already be irrelevant to you. If you die, don't worry, starting a new game is quite fun for most people and with each death you learn a thing or two.

Thanks bro! I started in Broken railroad, and actually found a revolver in the trapper's cabin in mystery lake. i have 80 rounds of ammo now >:)  Currently in the cave leading to milton through forlorn muskeg, I hope to settle down in paradise meadows farm. cheers!

Practical reasons? The dam. It's in the middle of everything, has plenty of lockers, several workbenches. The only flaws is that the nearest bed is in the trailer across the gate and there's no easily accessible kitchen, so you may end up using campfires shielded by some junk in the front yard.

Beautiful places? Camp office, Mountaineer's hut in TWM, maybe the Paradise Meadows or Pleasant Valley farms?

Thanks bro! I think i'll choose paradise meadows farm. :)

I've become slightly bored with wintermute and having to run around for jeremiah.(▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

because of this, I've started a new voyager difficulty sanbox game.

now, I've had this game since 2016 (aaaaaa its changed so much since then) and, i have only played pilgrym runs, and i have played over 100 hours on this mode because i enjoy the beauty of the game and i am also a massive baby. I'm tired of those runs, now because they arent challenging in the slightest. currently, i am on day five on voyager, and things are getting quite 【S】 【P】 【I】 【C】 【Y】, if you know what i mean. much more 【S】 【P】 【I】 【C】 【Y】than any pilgrym run i've had. side note, i started in broken railroad and found a revolver in the trapper's cabin. Wolves have rushed at me on 4 seperate occasions, and i've somehow managed to miss shooting all wolves. ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*( ͡ꈍ ͜ʖ̫ ͡ꈍ )*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ i was attacked and horrified.

hence, i've been wanting to select a base to call home, so i can more easily craft the wolfskin coat, don't have to carry everything, keep my sanity, ect. currently i am in mystery lake, but i would love to go on a journy to find the perfect base if i have to.

Which building , in what region do you think i should call home?

I'll do you one better.. How about using a rifle round, scrap metal, cured animal gut a can of accelerant to make an explosive-tipped arrow?  Aye??  Not only can you take down a bear or moose with it, but cook the meat at the same time!

    hahahahaha

I have to say "No" to this. It makes little sense. The game does not strive for complete IRL "reality", but it does strive to have enough reality for things added to have some significant, and believable purpose. In Pilgrim, maybe Voyageur, the ambient temps may be warm enough for dormant spiders to be alive. But... no insects for them to catch and eat if they come out of dormancy. In Stalker, and for sure in Interloper, the ambient air temps + windchill mean spiders are not likely to survive past the first hard freeze.

I think the cobwebs are meant to show how long the island has been decaying, things left unfinished, unkept, since The Collapse. That the places we find, and loot, have been left untouched by human hands, that cared to keep them up and maintain them, for a long time. Like bark scrapings for moose... just because you see them, does not mean they are around that area at any time. The spiderwebs show me an island in complete disrepair. No one cared, or had a reason to care enough, to go and clean these places when there were few residents, and no tourists coming to hunt, fish, cave, and climb any longer.

I don't see how spiders would add anything to the game that would make them worth the time and effort of the devs to add them. Maybe something for an arachnophile modder to add as a mod, when we have full modding support. A mod I will never use, since I am a complete arachnophobe.

  11. whoops lol. i didn't really research, I just looked on google, haha

indoors, though, perhaps.  The goal would not be to scare, (though the creators might have fun doing so), ans the long dark is not a horror game, but rather another aspect of wildlife to be wary of.  Keep in mind, hinterland did state in the intro to the long dark that they are not trying to create ''realistic'' animal behavior -  Maybe it could pounce on ur face or somethin' idk

although, now that you mention turning them into something they simply aren't.... Horrifying aurora spiders, perhaps? the wolves are already all glowy and stuff, so maybe it wouldn't be too far fetched... Image result for australian spiders

  12. perhaps, if / when you break down a crate, there is a chance that a spider will pounce onto your screen and inflict some debuff ?? perhaps, if it were a venemous species, like a black widow or brown recluse, (which can inhabit Canada)  until you treat the bite with antibiotics, say, you continue to loose condition slowly until it reaches 50 percent? idk, but I think it would frighten a fair amount of players- not that that is, in fact the goal of the long dark, but many have been complaining that they no longer feel scared with all the new weapons e.g revolver, and that they never want to feel safe - perhaps this could be a viable solution?

  13. I just saw a spider scurry on my wardrobe, a big one too. Here in Oz, spiders are quite plentiful and certainly terrifying.

This made me think... Imagine if spiders were added to the game? wouldn't that be fair dinkum horrifying? Perhaps unnecarry, but still an interesting detail. theey could cause an affliction, too! perhaps they could be rare - or imagine walking through a cave only to see a particular chamber crawling with them! black widows, perhaps. Maybe you'd find one under the stairs in the camp office or something.
