I have managed to bring all man made items back to the garage. Im now on day +400 and playing interlooper.

    @Master_Arne

That's cool.  How did it go in Bleak Inlet?  Did you take a stealth approach or shoot your way through?

Anyway, nice library.  Here's a sort of badge for your effort:

  2. Nice work, @Master_Arne.  That looks like all the skill books at the Quonset Garage, as well as a huge cache of archery supplies. 😀🎯

Feel free to share any other stats from your adventure.  I'd be curious to know how many days it took you, and the difficulty settings you were using.

I'd say that's an unfortunate shift in the use of the word 'discriminate' - i.e using it twice as if it has the same meaning in both cases. It clearly doesn't here; in the first instance it's being used in the sense of 'to treat unfairly' and in the second, it's being used in the sense of 'to make a choice'

I disagree that it’s an unfortunate shift, because I object to the word ‘discriminate’ being used to describe perceived unfairness on Hinterland’s part for their decisions.  And to suggestions that they’re punishing anyone by not giving them something they (individual players) want.

Keep in mind that at the end of the day, it is us the players that Hinterland has to keep happy. We're, after all, the customers whom Hinterland depends on for its success. To discriminate a group of customers (a fairly large one) without a logical reasoning is unfair too.

I disagree.  To make something that customers will want to buy, yes.  To "keep happy" those who have already bought the product, is a generous choice but not a requirement.  Custom Settings was a free bonus.  If they never released it, would that be discrimination against those who have it on their personal wish list?  Sure, because the makers of things always discriminate, or in other words, they make decisions about how to develop their property.

I still find it really strange that people like to lower the amount of fun others have out of some sense of elitism or whatever.

I just don't understand why people who bought the game are being punished for playing a mode introduced by the game company themselves

Let’s keep in mind, The Long Dark is Hinterland’s intellectual property. To assign them petty motives because what they do doesn’t align with one’s wishes is unfair.

As for feats, I think it makes sense to leave them as they are.  Being given access to Custom Settings itself is a (free) bonus much greater than feat badges imo.

have you been out to Bleak Inslet yet?

Not yet.  I have set up a rock cairn for ammo making supplies at the rope climb to the lower Ravine, in case that becomes necessary.  I don't anticipate having to restock ammo though.  I've already an ammo reserve going at the Farmhouse.  Still, Bleak Inlet is a place where it's easy to use up a lot of rounds if a player wants to, or gets impatient with sneaking around.  Anyway, Pensive Pond is on the route, so will likely keep using that for food as well.

When I'm done with ML, I'm thinking of alternating between HRV and Bleak Inlet for a while.  Maybe include TM in the rotation as well..

-Also, I've had to take to the skies and seas of Stormworks: Build and Rescue to get some different perspectives lately.  I've got a ship I like to tinker with that has a good approximation of the hull from HMS Terror.  There's not sail power in that game yet, but it's still fun to ride the waves in it.  In addition, there are some very good flying boats made by other players that I can cruise around in for days taking screenshots and studying the sea/landscape.

AND, I'm awaiting the Ash Canyon region update, of course.  Going to be nice to investigate a new place.  :lantern::painkillers:    :rabbit:

  8. I still need five more trips to the Dam and back to be finished with Mystery Lake region, but all the mountain books are returned.

The covers on those open books are mountain covers.  I've noticed those, or the cabin cover on open books.

  9. I've avoided killing or being mauled by bears so far.  There's no need for the meat or pelts at this point in the task.

Had this one agitated on a few occasions, but always got away from it in time.

at least you gotta a lotta tools out of there, eh?

At this point, I'm leaving a lot of that kind of stuff behind.  There are more than enough whetstones already for me to keep my original knife and hatchet sharp until the end of this.  I have some extra tools, toolboxes, and various other things for display purposes, so don't see the need to carry back any more.  Jerry cans and lanterns might be the exception.  Been taking most of those back or at least making note of where they are.

  11. During my Mystery Lake searching, I got the Coffee Badge.  During this challenge, I've been using up freely the coffee and tea, saving stims and energy drinks for the longer trips I'll be taking later.

I've also changed my clothing setup a bit.  Found mukluks, so figured the extra warmth and durability was worth the small hit to sprinting.  Also, switched to wool underwear for better warmth since carry weight hasn't been much of an issue.  Multiple trips to and from means I can spread out any gear hauling I want to do.  I patched the clothes screen onto my pause page to show the feats I'm using as well.

Fire master of course, plus some endurance feats.

  12. Everything I could find in the Mystery Lake region -

27 books, plus 10 skill books.  To get them out with covers intact, I have to set one outside the door, then walk across the dam to go in the window, then back through inside to grab another one.  Then it's curling time back through Winding River to Pleasant Valley.  It's not a bad trip, but I have to watch out for a bear on the PV side of the caves.
