  1. I assume the sachel will stack with "Well Fed"? So 40 kg carry capacity before becoming encumbered?
  2. Wow! 1000 days. I died of boredom at day 100 and leaped off a bridge. You were smart to find new challenges in the current game to keep you going!
  3. Hushed River Valley would likely be suicide for me. I don't think I've ever visited the region. I'm willing to bet I'd get lost and freeze to death.
  4. Thanks! I had no idea, I assumed that wolves were the only fire-fearful wildlife. That does help explain why the moose fled from me on one occasion as I'd started a fire while I waited for it to "bleed out" (little did I know I would've died waiting if I'd persisted). Unfortunately, I'd raided most of Forlorn Muskeg and Mystery Lake (and Milton to some extent) for food (incl. cattails). I'm not a very brave player. Wolves scare me to death. Now that I have a weapon I'll push into new regions for more supplies. The moose distracted me though I'm always encumbered and that sachel is an opportunity I can't pass up!
  5. Yes, but thanks for the reply anyway. I should have checked the TLD wiki before I posted here. For anyone else searching for the answer: no bleed out. Usually takes 4 shots to drop it unless you can get a critical hit. I did find a rocky outcropping to take the final bow shot from, but it didn't matter because the animal dropped immediately with the 4th shot. Food for days!
  6. Hi all, I'm in a bit of a tight spot in my Stalker run on day 33. I am out of food so I decided to hunt the moose hanging out at the trapper's homestead. I haven't hunted a moose with the bow before, but this time I don't have a firearm, so a bow is the only option. I managed to put arrows into its back, neck, and forehead. It still isn't dead, but I've got broken ribs x3 and am now on an empty stomach. I slept for 7 hours and the thing still isn't dead. Will it die? Will it actually bleed out? Or do I need to try again? I really need food. I have to decide to either abandon the animal (and my arrows) and go find food, or stay and wait for it to die.
  7. I haven't found a revolver yet so can't evaluate how it affects the game mechanics, but if we're trying to go for authenticity: Canada has far more rifles than revolvers.
  8. real pumpkin. My wife was the artist. I just carved along the dotted line
  9. Nice work! Pumpkin pie being my favorite dessert this time of year, maybe I'll try something like this too! My creative effort related to 4DoN was somewhat simpler: carving a TLD JOL (except the wolf was pointed the opposite direction).
  10. Awful? Really? It's a sprite in a video game.
  11. Thank you Hinterland for a great event. I couldn't play as much as I would have liked (work, family, sleep), but it got me back into TLD and spurred me to join your forums. Started playing in the summer of this year. You've done an excellent job on this game! Got both badges with relative ease. Glad I didn't have to sacrifice my real life just to get those badges Happy Halloween and g'night all.
  12. I get the sense the event is supposed to be fun, not challenging. I appreciate that it was easy enough that one did not have to sit indoors for 8 hours of real time just to complete. It was nice to just enjoy the game. Maybe they can include a difficulty setting for those seeking a serious challenge.
  13. I was camped out at Long Curve in PV at the end of day 3 with 20 minutes left on my fire... I hid indoors throughout day 2 since I wasn't confident I could survive fending off demonic wolves with road flares and a hunting knife. On day 3 I was bored and enticed by the light thrown from the auroras so I left the Farmstead for Signal Hill then onto Long Curve. Now I'm thinking I'll freeze solid before I make it back to the Farmstead where my pile of firewood is waiting for me. I guess it pays to see what hazard awaits you on the next day, eh? Oh well, who needs a badge??
