  1. So far I got 7 syrups in 2 runs. Run 1: TWM (0), PV (1 in Farmstead). Still playing this run, now heading CH. Run 2 (4-5h of relaxed gameplay), got 6 in total: 2 at MT (Mother's house and the farm, 0 for quonset and other town buildings), ML (1, checked only a few locations - traper's hut, camp office, Alan's cave + hunting's stand close to it, finally got 1 syrup after checking whole Carter's Dam from the dam's safe), 2 at CH (both islands - rabbit's and misantrope's, checked also a fishing camp, log sort, quonset + close building/cars, train unloading and waterfront cottages), 1 at Desolace (Hibernia's safe, 0 for Rikken and the lighthouse), then I decided to quit this run. It looks like a quite promising route for further syrup's runs, I'll definitely try it again. I got more than 25 chips so far, so I stopped to count.
  2. Started in Timberwolf Mountain, spent night at the transition cave near summit. 2nd day I looted whole tail section and I'm ready for a cold weather. Interesting fact - some of containers in the Tail Section were bugged. I was able to loot some of the doors twice, sometimes with different effect (but in the "coffie + tea" container I got coffie + tea twice). Can someone confirm this bug?
  3. I would say it depends on situation, because they both have their own pros and cons. On general, I realized couple things: Until you reach archery 5, it's easier to hunt dears with a riffle, which you can use when you're crouched. In my experience rifle scares mooses, which is higly desirable when you are hunting one (and don't want to be trampled). At this two situations I prefer riffle. But for example for cleaning area from wolves, I ususaly prefer bow (since we are not talking about revolver). It's easier to aim at moving target (such as wolf which runs on you) with a bow - rifle swings more the longer you aim (and you can aim just for a couple seconds, after which you lower the barrel and can't aim anymore for some time). And usualy I prefer bow for hunting bear due to shorter bleeding time after which bear drops dead. Of course, as it has been already mentioned, bow is much lighter. On the other hand, if you are not able to score a killing blow, you will have to track wounded animal to recover your arrow. Of course, you can try to shoot only those arrows, which has less than 25% durability. In this situation, if you hit but fail to score a killing blow, the broken arrow stays on the ground at the point where it hits the target. For example, I was recently trying to loot some dear carcass, but the bear was around. I check my (only) arrow condition, realize that it's just over 50%, so I shot at the tree. Arrow condition drops below 25%, so when I shot at the bear it breaks. Then I was able to hide myself, wounded bear ran away, I recovered the broken arrow, harvested the fallen dear, and still had an arrowhead with me (without loosing a time for chasing the bleeding bear). The third thing worth mentioning is an ammunition availability, which depends on the difficulty level. On stalker difficulty I can say, that on the first days of the game, it's easier to find some ammo for rifle, than to find useful arrows. But after finding couple arrowheads, or forging them, and after drying some birch saples, it's much easier to make a new arrows than to find decent amounts (or produce) rifle bullets.
  4. TBH, it wasn't that bad. The weather at the beginning of day 4 was mostly fine for the first 5 minutes (in rl). Icecold (like -20 of air temperature, -15 at the buildings), but a clear sky and light wind (or no wind at all, rng for the starting weather I suppose - I had to start 2 times, at the first I ran to Bear Creek Campfire hoping for JoL and hatchet, but this time they weren't there). After 5 minutes the snow began to fall, so the visibility was getting worse. At 10 min, the wind grew stronger, but the real blizzard came after about 15 minutes. It was more than enough time to chceck the Jackrabbit Island, Misantrope's Homestead and to get to Quonset, visiting some fishing huts on the way. Personally, on the 2nd run I visited Waterfront Cottages as well, where I found JoL with a riffle (useless) and some firewood in the box (much appeciated). Got caught by the blizzard there, but managed to get to Quonset at the end, with near 80% hypotermia risk. Starting a new game at day 4 was a bit callenging, but definietly doable if you've not chosen exploring nothing but crucial and the closest locations in your way to Quonset (the big house with an indoor fireplace at Waterfront Cottages was burnt down for me). The biggest problem was to obtain enough firewood (with no hatchet) to survive the first 2 hours of gameplay.
  5. My firts thought: "darn, so much preparation wasted, Cr41g's soul finally left his body..." Then I realized my mistake - didn't recognized Steve's face at first glance Glad you've made it!
  6. Tonight, my 4DON Mackenzie, which bravely fought wolves yesterday on hills around Milton, has been killed by my tiredness. I had a hard day at work and I forgot to dress him up before putting him to sleep for 12h. And the fire burned out... Why I undressed him? To conserve cothes, which generally is a good habbit in the long-term playing, but it occured a bad habbit tonight. To anyone who is bored awaiting a badge: Try to finnish day 4 as a new game. It is very far from boredom(*)... but I finally got my Midnight Badge! (*)OK, maybe last 30 min was a bit dull - I was cooking a cup of coffee every couple minutes (real time) and just stared at burning barrel, but belive me, it was a wonderful view after an hour and a half of panic searching for warmer clothes in houses around Quonset gas station.
  7. Congratz! And now what?... Any ideas what to do with this badge? Any way to patch it proudly to Mackenzie's chest or something?...
  8. I found one at Camp Office.
