  1. New clothing item the orca hat. Crafting time 127 hours, warmth +6 and 100% waterproof. Increases the chance bears will flee from you
  2. I tend to stay in CH most of the time, but I'm genuinely surprised that it's winning so far.
  3. That's a nifty little idea from @Jimmy, I never thought of doing that As for me I never carry spare clothes either. I always try to craft a full set of fur clothes when I can and keep them maintained. As the furs are pretty hard wearing it would usually take a few animal attacks before they're wrecked. But I always carry around a few pieces of cloth to repair my socks and the 1 wool toque I wear. As for falling through the ice I either get back to base A.S.A.P. or start a fire to dry out.
  4. Bitten by a wolf and didn't have a bandage I reckon
  5. Maybe there will be reindeer with bright red noses
  6. Makes sense to me, I know it may seem a bit overpowered though, but if it takes a few hours to construct, (maybe you need to gather extra stones) I feel it's a fair trade off. It'd be a nice option to have a better fire at your main base (if you have one). I mainly stay at the Quonset garage, which means I have fires tucked around all sides of the garage and next to cars so I've always got an option to boil water when the wind picks up. But irl, I would construct some sort of sheltered fire if I could, so I think it makes sense in the game and would be a nice addition. I've also never liked the idea of not using tinder to start a fire. No matter how good you are, I think starting a fire with nothing but an old table leg and a magnifying glass is a bit too unrealistic lmao And yeah, I am DEFINITELY all in favour of being able to dismantle old fires. They just look so unsightly lol.
  7. Neat idea. I know some people will say that changes like this aren't necessary, and they're probably right. But I'd love a small change like this that would just add a bit more variety and choice to the game. I'd probably end up saving these long shelf life foods to take with me when I go exploring
  8. I don't think they're like to make any changes like this because the in game wet stones are already wear out ridiculously quickly compared with the real world. So it seems to me that the devs want them to be finite.

    Jumping

I'm not bothered about actual jumping, myself. I don't even mind not being able to step over a small fence. But I think the "automatic stepping over things mechanic" could be improved. Not having to walk around small branches, deployed climbing ropes, random debris etc, would be nice.
  10. I think level 5 cooking is a bit overpowered as it is, so I personally think some changes would be great. I really like the idea of meat being taken by predators when it's left outside on the floor. I know this game isn't supposed to be hyper realistic, but it's always seemed silly to me that that doesn't happen. I appreciate what @ManicManiac says about making the choice not to take advantage of the level 5 cooking mechanic, but I know that myself, if it comes down to my character dying or not, I'm gonna just cook that ruined meat lol. So myself, I just play the game taking advantage of level 5 cooking, even though I think it does take away from the experience somewhat. Maybe the only way to keep everyone happy is to make more custom options. But then if the devs start making too many large game mechanics customisable, it could turn out that one day we'll all be playing very different versions of the long dark from one another. And I don't really like the idea of that tbh. Sooooo basically, I think this is my slightly long winded way on saying, even though it's not perfect, I'm mostly in favour of keeping the cooking mechanic the way it is. But I wouldn't mind if wolves stole my food
  11. I'd be tempted to go to bear creek for the guaranteed cat tails, if it's not too cold that is. Don't forget the can of summit soda that always spawns on the bank on the way to Jack Rabbit Island for a few near by calories
  12. @ManicManiac I don't think anyone is saying this is essential or anything, but I think it would be a nice addition. I'm on day 205 of my best ever interloper run at the moment and to be honest, it's a bit boring lol. I'm well stocked with little to do, except travel around the regions and do some sight seeing. Believe me if I could carry some more of that bear meat I've got piled up without getting quite so many wolves chasing me it would be a nice quality of life improvement But this is a wish list after all and I'm not actually expecting this to get implemented, but it's nice to talk about it.
  13. I think a cured meat with reduced weight and smell, would be great travelling food and a welcome addition to the game.
  14. Sounds like a cool idea.
  15. These are all great ideas in my opinion, but I'd say most are too complicated and not likely to be implemented. But that doesn't mean it's not fun to wish for and talk about them. I know this has been mentioned a lot before, but the thing I would most like to see would be changing seasons. It would naturally change the dynamics of the environment and I'd love to see it. Between summer and winter it would feel like playing 2 different games. I know this would never happen in the long dark, but I would love to see this in a future Hinterland title
  16. Some very good points being made here. Maybe if either adding the backpack, or changing the inventory system is too much work, I think it would add a nice dynamic if the clothing you wear affected your carrying capacity. It makes sense that you could carry some more items while wearing cargo pants vs jeans. Or when you find a jacket with pockets rather than just a sports vest etc. And I don't necessarily mean increasing your carrying capacity to more than what it is now. Maybe when you only have jeans and a T-shirt, your capacity is reduced by 5kg. I think this would be more simple to implement, but would make a nice change, giving you something else to consider when choosing what clothing to wear. Do you go for the warmth of the bearskin, or the extra pockets of my parka.
  17. Another way to get eaten by wolves lol. Saying that I wouldn't be against it. It'd certainly make things that little bit more interesting
  18. Yeah, good luck crossing the railway bridge lol. No matter how many times I do it, it's always nerve wracking, especially when you're so far into a run.
  19. This story brings back a LOT of memories. After a death like this when everything was going so well I always feel like I never want to play the game again.....for about 2 minutes lol.
  20. It'd be great to have tinder as another way to raise a fire's temperature, if only slightly. I'm sure we've all been in the situation when you just want to get an extra degree of heat, to stop your condition loss. I think this would be a nice little addition. It does seem unrealistic to me to not need tinder when you level up your fire skill though. I can't imagine starting a fire with only some reclaimed wood and a single match lol. So personally, I'd rather tinder stay as a necessity in fire starting no matter what your skill level is.
