Turns out that despite using a map already in coastal highway, the wiki says there are at least 6 more cairns there.. so does anyone have an up to date complete cairn map of everywhere lol....  I now doubt all the previous maps I've used ,except @ajb1978 of course😊

Tell me where you are, I'll tell you where you need to go!

Big project otherwise, to map out the whole world.

  2. Actually yes there are, and they're unlocked by finding clues. I literally can't tell you where they are without spoiling the whole DLC story, so good luck! Keep your head on a swivel and that transponder in your hand.

To be clear these are actual bunkers, not the randomly generated prepper caches. These bunkers are like...military installations with multiple rooms, bunks for several members, etc.

Sorry I didn't mean new cairns... I meant notes...  Went off topic a bit ...I'm half asleep today and my brains wandering😁

Ohhh yes no you're right, I misread, that one's on me.

Um.. Shit. Somehow I don't recall that detail. Of all the things I did in the new regions, I don't recall buffer memories...

Well I guess I have a project now.

Edit: Actually no, changed my mind. If there were buffer memories, surely I would've encountered at least one. Odds are if it were true I'd have stumbled on it, so I'm not gonna make a whole project out of this!

I've been trying to get them all for three years but somehow never got past about 80, so as I'm going for my first 1000 day run Ive made a real effort trying to find them... I got to 130 + and then had to resort to maps... Broken was the only one I couldn't find one for..  yours is a big help, and I'd missed three there so I'm there at the moment ..

Still got some buffers, and notes to find though...    I'm a bit curious about the notes . I had them all except one til tftft was launched...are there really over 20 on the new maps?

To my knowledge no new cairns have been added and there remain only 165 throughout the entire world. But then again I don't have social media in any capacity so I may have missed an update somewhere along the line.

The Wiki page has a rather butchered version of my list on it, showing all locations.

Very clean confirmation of the mechanics, Zak. Maybe you could have included a quick test on the ice too, to see how much longer wearing crampons gives you before it breaks.

    1 extra second.

The default is 5, with crampons you can be on ice for 6 seconds. Doesn't sound like much but that's a 20% increase, and really makes a huge difference. At a full sprint you can travel a good distance in 1 second.

  6. Wouldn't do a thing. A bear spear's tip is fitted with a sort of crossguard, so that after the tip plunges in, the crossguard prevents it from punching clean through thus keeping the bear at bay. The long pole of the spear is intended to be braced against the ground or other steady object, such that the bear impales itself using its own energy, not your own.

A dagger at the end of a shoulder-mounted rifle....you may as well just take another shot and hope for the best.

Something like we see on TWM?

Basically yeah but random, renewable, and exposed to the elements. Maybe stick 'em right along a bear path.

A washed up shipping container that you could enter would be neat.  Almost anything could be in there.

Entering it would be a bit much. But adding a new kind of sealed shipping container to beachcombing which requires extra time to open, but can contain things like flour which would be quickly rendered useless when exposed to the elements. Perhaps require lugging around Tools or Quality Tools and an hour or so sitting out there in the open, to dismantle and open what is a very well-sealed box. In return, the box can contain any kind of loot, from mundane to extremely rare, and it's always at 100%.

Or heck. People have been begging for a shotgun. Give 'em a breaching shotgun that you have to actually load, aim, and blast the container with. Not terribly effective for hunting, but can be used to scare off wildlife or blast open those shipping crates. And possibly security doors in (insert hypothetical DLC here.) Edit: Hmm or spawn one of those sealed containers waaaaay out on thin ice. The only way to open it is to blast it with a firearm, which physically destroys the object in the environment. Then the player sprints out to pick up the gear which spawned inside of it (sort of like how gear can be hidden "inside" crates after you smash them.)

So… it is possible then. Why was it not always in the base game?

Well the mod just flat out disables them. The disclaimers were included for a reason so they won't just disable them. And adding in an ability to selectively diable them after viewing them the first time is understandably a low priority with everything else going on.

  11. So I used to hit the whisky pretty hard, and one night while two, maybe three full sheets to the wind I was doing something in DP. WRROOOOWWWLL That stupid bear somehow snuck up on me, while directly ahead of me at 12:00, as I was looking right at it. I somehow had the presence of mind to shake off the stupid, bust out the flare pistol, and panic-fire the single round I carry for that exact situation. But I'll never forget that one.

  12. Been all over, from major metro areas like Chicago to tiny little unincorps with one single flashing yellow light as the entirety of the traffic control system. I currently have a 2-bedroom condo in a city, but I'm also a prepper so I could hypothetically buttress the doors and hunker down for 6-8 weeks (or 1 if I have no water source) before I ran out of supplies. Enough to probably be fine for most realistic scenarios, although I would certainly be seeking FEMA support as my Plan A. I mean I pay my taxes, naturally I'm gonna cash in on that first.
