  1. Have I told you I adore you lately? No? Well, I'll just leave that there...
  2. I'll just be going inside now... O_O Well... I'll just be going inside again, now... And just a few pretty shots, since I did not get my face eaten off either time.
  3. +1, my experience as well, over 8 real life hours played since the update. Fewer sprains, and I actually had to work at getting one. It took me the full 8 hours of doing w everything- being over-encumbered, being exhausted, walking up slopes until i found ones that k lit up the slope warning... and if I stopped, and took appropriate corrective action, no sprain,. I had to walk straight up a steep slope in FM overburdened and exhausted, and keep going to the top with the red slope warning lit up the entire way... i finally got my sprain a step from the summit of the slope. And I gimped from FM into ML, avoiding wolves as I went, no treatments. The Pain healed itself over time, and the sprain was healed after I reached trappers and slept. I never thought I would actively try to get my character hurt, just to test the system and the complaints sen on these and other forums., But, there you go. I worked hard to get hurt. And it told me that the sprain system is better now than it used to be.
  4. I must respectfully disagree. It does seem that that is how is it is right now. I spent 7 hours last nigh running up and down hills, road embankments, being exhausted and overburdened on ice, jumping off of rocks and trees, literally doing all i could to intentionally try to trigger sprains, just because people were claiming to have dozens of them within 5 minutes of starting their games. I find, my experience in Voyageur and Stalker starts yesterday... their claims may be greatly exaggerated over-dramatizations, because they are not yet familiar with the new notifications. 7 hours. Of intentionally pushing my luck to try to trigger sudden sprains. If I paid attention to the warnings and new affliction notice for the risk, and took corrective action, something as simple as changing my route, or dropping a few things, and moving carefully instead of just blindly walking without paying attention... I had ZERO sprains. ZERO. 7 hours of doing everything everyone claimed had gotten them sprains, and I could not get one, so long as I actually paid attention to the new warnings and changed my in-game behavior.. The only sprains I ended up with were from wolf struggles, from intentionally trying to face-tank wolves to test the new accessibility options for struggles. TL;DR the new sprain system and warning system seems to be working as advertised and intended. Granted, 7 hours of testing and 5 different starts to test it is a small sample size, overall, but if it were just RNJesus smiling on me... you don;t know our relationship very well. RNJesus is not my friend, never has been. Bad luck in game is the only kind of luck I seem to have. Good decisions generally keep my characters alive, bad decisions... not so much. RNJesus is NEVER that kind to me. Changing my behavior in the game when I put myself at risk of sprains is what kept me from h getting any, not RNG.
  5. Exactly what I meant, but you said it way better than I did. I can only blame a lack of Pancakes for my poor choice of words. ; )
  6. I really like the fix. We had the option before to trun off the limping effect on the camera. (I like it so I keep it on...). But being able to very clearly see when I am on a slope that puts me at risk, and how rapidly the slope(s) can change in a very short distance of travel... makes it obvious why some of those unexpected sprains (falls) on "small" slopes happens. The new affliction "Sprain Risk" when over-encumbered or exhausted is a good thing too, IMHO. That little yellow reminder that I need to go careful, or put some stuff down, or get some sleep. Or push on, carrying the world in my pack, and accept the risk I now obviously know I put on myself. Spawned in randomly on Coastal Highway, so... day 5 and already dealing with many wolves, and a bear I can hear, but have not seen yet. Waterfront Cottages, so I know where he might be... and I keep expecting to have him tap me on the shoulder, right before... Enjoying it so far, and looking forward to playing with more of the new stuff, as I go. No revolver yet, but I found 1 bullet. I am biting that bullet each time I have to make a dash from the cottages to the QGS.
  7. Hahaha! Well, I had to sleep, so...just waking up, loved the video, and extremely hyped to go to Steam, download the update, and see how it goes. Thank you for never stopping, and continuing to make the game better and better for all of us. (Really happy to see the new Accessibility options! HUGE love here!) Jumping in... NOW!
  8. I know. It's not like I couldn't sleep last night, waiting for the update. It's fine, I can wait, I am perfectly fine... No, really. It's fine, I can wait...
  9. Why? I think it gives the shot some story, and connects me to it more than many other shots. You are out in the aurora... and there may be toothy things about. I like it, as it is. Great image.
  10. It's almost Midnight here on the East Coast of the US... *The hype intensifies*
  11. This. ^^^ Just like mending and sharpening... skill points given, but based on the "difficulty" of the crafting being done. Preparing rose hips or reishi would only give 1 point, crafting bunny mittens would give 5, something to that effect. Or have point given only for crafting that needs a workbench or forge, no points for the stuff that we do a ton of, like making tinder plugs from sticks, or ripping cloth into bandages? And the level ups would give a faster time for crafting an item. Cut the decay rate for crafted clothing and tools by a *small* amount? A Research Book like "Bushcraft 101: Making Stuff From Almost Anything" could be added, with a similar point value as the Ice Fishing book. Possibly have it make repairs (Storm Lantern and other tools?) faster and less likely to fail or improve times when forging after level 3? *Not-so-random thoughts...*
  12. Agreed. I don't actively use this feat, now that I have it. Starting fires, especially if you use a torch, is not inherently difficult. It is the least useful feat, even on Pilgrim. I am going to disagree here, somewhat... It may not be "the most useful " Feat, overall, but in Stalker, with wolves from the start of the game, on Day 1, who all want to eat your face off... having Firestarting 3 from the get can be very handy, nd lifesaving. Not for coking, or warmth, but the game does like to troll us, and spawn us into the game in bad places, with rabid wolves nearby, at times. Being able to grab a few sticks off the ground and make a fire, with a higher % chance of success, and no tinder needed... has saved my butt a few times at the start of a run. *Spawns in on a new Stalker run* **"Oh HAI, wolfie..."** ***Grabs 2 sticks, FAST*** ****Starts fire successfully in front of wolf**** *****Tells the God Of Death- "NOT TODAY!!!"***** *Thanks Hinterland for the Fire Master Feat and gets killed by Grumpy Old Bear 2 days later, because Teddy Ruxpin is like a Honey Badger around fires... he just don't care.* Maybe not the most useful feat for everyday survival, but still one I am glad to have, in Stalker, at least.
  13. I'll send you a PM... I am not going to post links, but there is one site that may have a few...
  14. I have to agree, I would buy both. But I think I would also play the second one more often, if it were similar to current Survival Mode, with randomly placed loot, and a choice of experience modes, no custom settings though.
  15. Thanks for answering my question Raph, and answering it so well. The difference between *indie* and *Independent* makes great sense, and is a distinction I will not forget. It makes it more clear to my own mind, and explain why I would often have my brow furrowed when seeing a game called *Indie* when it had a third party publisher- AAA or otherwise (small publishers are still publishers who have some control over the project and its direction...). And called *Indie* by not just the devs or the studio, but by gamers, social media, and mainstream media publications as well. Appreciate the honest and, to me, clear answer. I'll be passing this on to my daughter, with her aspirations of being a great gamedev someday. With her Asperger's, she is often too shy or uncomfortable asking things like this publicly, so I do my *Mom job*, and ask for her (and myself), and pass the info on to her, for her to absorb, and form her own opinions of. Don't be shocked if someday you get a resume, portfolio, and application from her.
  16. ??? I don't recall seeing anything, anywhere, that says the rifle is going away or changing in any way. And I sure as heck am not going to try to take down a Bear or Moose with a revolver, no matter how big it is. Rifle will still be a thing for me, used the same way i use it now, for hunting, not dragged around with e everywhere. The revolver, depending on how effective it is, and how common or scarce it and its ammo are may become an alternative to carrying a bow ans arrows around, especially if i am low on arrows. So, how is the rifle going to be missed, unless I am not understanding the meaning of your comment?
  17. Sorry, I have to agree with everyone else. Took a short bit of time to get used to the system after Vigilant Flame dropped, but now... In the time it takes you to cook an entire deer (in-game time)< I can cook an entire deer, mend my socks and toque, get a few hours of reading in, and make a few gallons of water and medicinal teas to drink. And I can run out to grab more sticks and logs for the fire while the fire is burning, and my food is coking and water is boiling.Or I can just cook, and use the [SPACE] to speed things along, so time goes by faster, and my food insta-cooks. Obviously, you are free to enjoy whatever version of the game you choose to, and with a DRM free copy, you do not have to update your game version if you choose not to. But you are also not getting any bug fixes, performance optimizations, graphics upgrades, any other new features like Buffer Memories, the new Challenge Mode, and the Redux version of Wintermute. And you won't get the Revolver when the new update drops on Monday. I prefer the new cooking system for efficiency and "realism". But, I also preferred the Ultima games or Might & Magic games to The Magic Candle, so, we may just have different tastes in games.
  18. Rogue-Berserker-Adventurer hybrid. I play fast and loose, and tend to play more of a quiet and stealthy game in Stalker, a crazy nut with stabby things who runs at everything in Voyageur, screaming at the top of my lungs. but I also like to explore, a lot, and find every nook and cranny on the game maps, and will keep doing so, regardless of which mode I am playing. And I don't like to settle down in one spot for long, I like to keep moving, and looking for new trouble to get into. I have no single, set playstyle, it shifts depending on mood, and what the game throws at me. I will never play Loper that much and won't bother trying the DMC. Because... I like to laugh and have fun while I play, not stress out over having "perfect" runs, and freak out because I missed one crucial flare somewhere, that I MUST have to stay alive. Screw that, that is not fun for me. I like to do absolutely ridiculous and silly things, on the spur-of-the-moment, in a setting where I might actually be able to get away with it, and have a great story to make people laugh the next day. So... Part Court Jester and Bard as well. :p
  19. Only thing there is, both of those names were given to the wolves by the Community, not by the devs. We the people named them, and used the names so frequently to refer to the Special Wolves, that Hinterland appears to have smiled, and said "Okay, so be it...". And @slvrsrfr, if you want Raph to answer your question, instead of other players answering it, you need to post it in the dedicated Questions Thread for the Milton Mailbag, not here in the comments after Raph publishes one. I would love to know too if any of the devs had "pet names" for any of the critters too. Like did anyone call the bears Teddy, Furball, or Fishbreath? But I am not going to steal your question... please repost it there, and hopefully Raph will answer it.
  20. If it helps to find you output_log... I run Windows 7 64 bit SP1, also. So your Windows Explorer should look the same as mine, or very similar. Seeing images of where to find the file sometimes helps me, rather than written instructions... (Users- select your user name on your PC, should appear at the top of the Users name list...) Hope the images may help you locate the file...
