  2. My experience with 4DON this year has been fun. The first day was a real struggle, as I decided to up the difficulty by not sleeping indoors at all. I was constantly hauling 40kgs of stuff and had problems with keeping myself warm. I did find the rifle at the end of the first day so that was lucky. Second day I was so preoccupied with real life -stuff that I couldn't really enjoy the challenge at all, just managed to get the required 2 hours for the badge. Today I decided to ditch the rifle because it weights so much and started moving into Pleasant Valley. I slept a good sleep at the new fire barrel near Thomson's crossing. Now I've decided that my final spot of survival will be the outdoor barn near the big indoor barn in pleasant valley. Found a moose hide satchel so it's gonna help me a lot in preparing. A couple of wood runs to make sure I will have more than enough wood for tomorrow's blizzard and then I will be set. ^^ edit: Now that I found a second rifle in PV and my wood run's are almost done. I think there might be some sport hunting instead of down time. edit2: ready for tomorrow. ^^
  3. Nice! But doesn't that mean that it's a regression in Unity's OpenGL support and not a problem with the drivers?
  4. Thats good to hear. Yeah, I believe the -force-glcore42 means that Unity is launching with OpenGL 4.2, so newer graphics stuff are probably not working. Which might also explain why it seems some older NVIDIA cards are not experiencing the same problems (= they don't support higher versions of openGL anyway) But I am just guessing, don't have much knowledge about different graphics APIs.
  5. @stratvox Hopefully this helps. I have to ask, where did you see nvidia claiming "it's not us"?
  6. Hello fellow The Long Darkies! It seems most of us NVIDIA users are experiencing graphical glitching after the REDUX update. I have good news for you! I found these launch parameters (from Unity issue tracker) that fixed the glitching for me and allows me to continue surviving! -force-glcore42 -force-clamped Hope this helps! Remember to up vote the issue in the link I provided, so the problem gets enough attention and hopefully a quick and permanent fix. So that such workarounds wouldn't be needed in the future. 7. This seems to be a Unity problem. On my arch linux I am able to stop the tearing by adding -force-vulkan launch parameter, but this introduces other kinds of game breaking graphics glitches. https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/have-graphical-distortions-in-unity-games-with-nvidia-heres-a-workaround.13133/ https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1043953/linux/garbled-up-graphics-in-unity-opengl-/post/5302775/#5302775 https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/linux-nvidia-graphical-corruption-in-many-games-possible-regression This has also been reported in the official TLD issue tracker: https://hinterlandgames.atlassian.net/projects/TLDP/issues/TLDP-6534?filter=allopenissues
  8. You can light the torch by selecting "add fuel" from the menu. It is a bit confusing and I hope it's going to be changed in the future.

    DAY 4 (spoilers)

I don't think any of us can do anything but wait it out. x) I too think it's a bit boring but I have to blame myself a bit for the boredom, as I used days 2 and 3 preparing myself for the blizzard. And the result of the preparation is that there is no reason for me to leave the cave in which I got firewood for almost two weeks of ingame time. x)

    DAY 4 (spoilers)

At start the day looked bleak as I couldn't light a fire inside the cave after the storm hit. But a bug or change in wind direction has now let me to light both of the fires inside my cave. Now all that remains to be seen is if the fires go out again and what in earth will I think of then to survive the weather..

    DAY 4 (spoilers)

Has anyone tried lighting a fire in the fishing huts?

    DAY 3 (spoilers)

Okay, after realizing my mistake (bear cave near trailer at CH) I've been transporting my stuff and gathering new stuff to the middle climb point cave below the lookout in CH. 140+ reclaimed wood, 40 cedar blocks, 30 fir blocks and about 40 coal. About 20 kgs of wolf meat and 6 candy bars left. Hopefully this will get me through the blizzard tomorrow.

    DAY 3 (spoilers)

I was planning on spending Day 4 at the bear cave north of Quonset Garage. I have now learned that it will not protect me even from the winds on day 3 so don't replicate my mistake peeps!! I will have to spend the rest of the evening trying to move into a better spot with aurora and the wolves around me x____x
  16. Okay, good night to all of you explorers! Hopefully our badge hunt will continue tomorrow with the third badge. ^^
  17. This is a concern for me too. I do have the supercharged flashlight though. I have tried to keep my things a bit scattered, so I could spend day three inside the garage, away from the wolfies.
  18. I have arrived at the bear cave near trailer in CH. After setting my initial camp fire I realized that the cave actually isn't fully protected from wind. The camp fire I have set now SHOULD be out of the wind, but in strong winds you can see the smoke turn to the direction of the wind (but the fire won't be put down). I am still using the trailer and garage as my safe spots until day 4, but I will have to use this location to make sure it's wind proof. Otherwise I will have a hell of a lot to do tomorrow during the aurora (move to a safe spot, on a day that I don't really have time to play x___x). I hope this spot lasts, as there is a lot of firewood nearby and the closes house is still full of reclaimed wood.
  19. I've been racking my brain for a while now thinking about what will happen on day 4. In the "Newest" section in main menu there is a text on day 4 that you need to stick close to a fire. So in the end I can't think of a better place to stick to than the caves, since they will (hopefully) stay protected from the wind.
  20. Yeah, exactly what I thought. The forest exterior might provide a bit more firewood also. I think I will try to find a couple of fir limbs and make a trail of camp fires to the cave.
  21. Good stuff @Khan_Drichthyes. I researched my surroundings from a map and I now need to make a decision about the cave I'll be moving into. What do you guys think, the cave north from quonset garage or the cave at misanthrope's island?
  22. Hmm. Thanks for reminding. Quonset is an awful place to be if you can't be inside and the wind isn't blowing towards the beach. Btw, has anyone tried fishing? Or has someone actually got Cabin fever or Intestinal parasites? Just asking to make sure.
  23. Cool pic! You should take the panoramic one too. :3
