  1. My apologies @SpanishMoss, I missed that you had answered my question so perfectly. Yes, that is exactly the scientific answer I was hoping for! Thank you kindly.
  2. I'm impressed that the intended console release is the same date as the PC. Here's hoping that works out, and great job if it does! For what it's worth, this is a nice clear communication of exactly what to expect. Much improved and appreciated!
  3. Much of the reason that I've mostly played on Stalker is to have access to this wider variety of items. I only have one feat left to get, so I should really start making custom my default - walk interloper cold, loot frequency, damage, etc, but stalker item availability.
  4. I haven't gone back and checked them all. I'll re-check the ones on the bridge on my way out. Then the plan is to get the hell out of this forsaken map! (Timberwolves are absolutely BRUTAL on Interloper!) Good to know about that particular key spawn, @Dan_
  5. Interesting. I definitely checked all cars in both of those places. Unless it was somewhere other than under the visor?
  6. This question includes some mild spoilers, for mementos. So, from my experiments so far, I know that some of the loot mementos are still there in Interloper, and that some are missing. But previously, if I had seen a lockbox, then the key for it should exist. This included one that contained a revolver, which is definitely not normally an interloper item! Because I've failed to find a second light wool sweater in my current game, I took the risk of going to BI, to see if I could get the lockbox of sweaters in the back of the truck. Plus, I had a revolver at 40%, 12 bullets, and no rifle cleaning kits, so I kind of wanted to get the condition up. I found the lockbox in the spot where it spawns on Stalker, but no sign of the key in any of the cars that I think it's normally in. Is this just a question of the keys being potentially found in more places than I realize? Or do some lockboxes appear, but with no keys? Thanks!
  7. So, I just went bear hunting, and put three arrows in it, before ducking into a cabin to hide. After passing a short amount of time, I found the three arrows in a pile where the bear had been, with no sign of the animal. So he clearly despawned just outside my door. So I guess the various arrows I lost theoretically still exist, somewhere in the world. (that was how I'd always thought it worked, but hadn't been finding any this game) I guess I'll need to make more arrows, and see if I can drop a bear without relying on bleed out.
  8. This might just be a string of bad luck, but on my current game (Interloper), I've had the vast majority of animals that I've hit with a bow disappear. If I don't drop them on the first shot, and they run off, they've only once left a carcass. The other 5-6 times, they've run off, and then there's no sign of them (or my arrow) anywhere. Do animals just much more commonly despawn on Interloper? I'm mostly use to playing Stalker.
  9. So, playing on interloper, I just got jumped by two wolves, next to the hunting lodge. I was taking a route that's usually safe, but the moose on the lake might have driven the wolves further afield. I managed to hit the first wolf with an arrow, so I won that struggle almost right away. The second one fought me down to within an inch of my life, but I managed to stop the bleeding, and limp into the lodge, safe to spend a few days recovering. So, since I'm not dead, next thing to check is my clothes status. Huzzah, nothing ruined! Looks like it didn't even take much of a beating. And that's when I discover that my bedroll is ruined. Now, I had just spent the previous night sleeping in caves. And while I didn't make note of its condition, I know my warmth bonus was around 3.4 degrees. So I don't think it's condition was getting low? Does this mean that a wolf attack can ruin items in your inventory like this?
  10. I think it would be an excellent quality of life update for us to be able to right click sticks/wood/whatever on the ground, and then be able to place it directly into a fire, just like how we can right click food on the ground, and place it directly onto a cooking surface. Given how common it is to store wood in piles on the ground, I think that would be a real convenience, and more immersive than having to go through the menus.
  11. Isn't the birch for the arrow shafts a limited resource?
  12. I can confirm that this effect did not appear in TWM and Ash Canyon cave systems. It might be a deliberate hazy effect in that cave is interacting poorly with the lamp. I'd file it with support.
  13. I definitely noticed it while traveling there. I don't think I took note of if it was happening elsewhere.
  14. I'm not sure if this is recent updates, or just the difference of Interloper vs Stalker. But coming down Winding River from the dam, I was surprised that a wolf that came straight up the path, almost all the way to the dam. Given how fast he came, he must have been bee-lining for me, as soon as I stepped outside. I had a piece of cooked meat on me, but I was still surprised it was that fast. I managed to survive, and instantly ate the meat, to get rid of any smell. But 15 seconds later, the other wolf came running up the path, to come after me. I managed to lose him running amongst the rocks, but I was again shocked at how aggressive they were, or just where they were patrolling. Is this a new pathing? A reality of interloper? Do fresh skins have a scent, that I didn't know about? (I know guts do, and I wasn't carrying any). I also was not bleeding from the first attack.
  15. I'm sure this has been previously scientifically answered, but I can't find it. Assuming you go to bed having drank and fed, and have no afflictions going in, what is the longest that you can SAFELY sleep, in an outdoor location? I just died 149 days into a session, sleeping in a fishing hut for 6 hours. I was fully warm and cozy when I went to bed, but I guess I got cold. So. In a situation where you're currently all fine, but a blizzard could hypothetically sneak up on you, what's the magic number, to make sure that even if you wake up freezing and losing condition, you know you WILL wake up? And I'm guessing that that number is different for Stalker and Interloper. (I'm also assuming you're somewhere where you won't get wet, as I know that could change the equation)
  16. I'm almost finished gathering up every skill book on Great Bear Island, with caches of them squirrelled away all over the place. Just Bleak Inlet left to dig through. Soon, I will bring them all together into the one central Great Bear Island Library! So the big question is - where is the best place? Somewhere kind of nice of course. The mountaineer's hut is my favourite place to hang out, but it's not really a library. What are your suggestions?
  17. Has anyone else discovered the magic warm spot outside the Island cottage? It appears that the building is in an L shape, but the warmth of it is a square. So if you stand outside anywhere in that corner, you get the huge warmth bonus of being inside, even in a full blizzard. I haven't done tests to see if it counts as inside or outside though! I should probably drop a fur on the ground, and see what happens...
  18. The niceness of the comment is largely dependent on cultural perspective. "Hoser" is a VERY Canadian insult, and as such is used as more of a statement of Canadian camaraderie than anything else. Even when intended as a put down, it's a pretty mild one. You would use it because of a mild social infraction, rather than a serious gripe with someone's behaviour or personality! Thank you for joining us for this Canadian Content Minute!
  19. I certainly haven't found it yet, after a whole lot of turning over every stone in Ash Canyon. I'm sure I've just missed it somehow, so I guess it's time to go back through everything!
  20. Oh, good point, I totally forgot bedroll! There's one or two of those in my camping gear, for sure.
  21. To be fair, such things TOTALLY are around in Canada! They're just not the default, and the majority of garages would have none. Some of course, absolutely would. But to an American audience, it might seem slightly odd that I own a garage, but have no firearms.
  22. Fun community game: If you looted your own garage right now, what TLD inventory items would you find? (Feel free to substite with whatever storage you have access to, without cheating and going with "every single thing I own". For me, I'd definitely have a hatchet and a buck knife. Some matches. I think all my heavy winter clothing is elsewhere in the house, so probably just some work gloves, clothing-wise. MAYBE my hiking boots (trail boots, in game) are currently there. Low quality tools. Some MREs. Cloth. A cooking pot. No guns, as I live in Canada, and such things are fairly rare. No research books. So a decent haul, but not exactly a loot pinata! How does your storage space look?
  23. I defaulted to Astrid on my first playthrough, just because there tend to not be enough women as main characters in games. While I've played both, I've played a lot more as her than as Will. Partially because Will's vocalizations are in the same frequency range as wolves, and I didn't like being constantly paranoid!
