  1. My son told me you are not wrong , he supposes it could work with a pack of wolves on a side... and the hunter on the other side with the Ai filling the empty spots in a way similar to Mario party (his words). Thanks for the feedback.
  2. This is a new mode to play "The Long Dark" invented by my son but i think it could also work as a "spin off" game. You control a wolf and your goal is to hunt and eventually kill the human before he kills you. As a wolf you have special abilities: for instance you're able to feel scents far away (trail of human scent allows you to follow him and can also easily allows you to locate deers and rabbits at distance). You can run fast and hunt little game like rabbits to regenerate your health. You're able to see where the human has passed and left footprints in the snow and with an enhance hearing you can track activities if they involve sounds (for instance if the human open a door you can hear the sound even if it's far away and know if it comes from left, right, behind you, etc.) The last ability you have as a wolf is your howl, it allows you to call other wolves that help you in the hunt. They become your pack for a while and it's expecially useful if you want to attack a struggle to the human. Differently from the original game the wolf can get inside houses, caves, etc... at least, those where there the doors can be opened just pushing them (i.e. mountaineer hut). Like in the original game there are different levels of difficulty. In the easiest one your wolf is very strong and the human pretty weak (and doesn't have access to the rifle), while the interloper level sees you like a pretty weak wolf (that can easily die from blood loss from a struggle) and the human is a seasoned hunter. Being sensible to the light allows you to see in the darkness but it is also a problem because if the human lights a torch or a flare you see it like you're staring at the sun. Fire, torches and flare scare you so much and you can't go too close to them otherwise you lose sanity for some seconds and just run away from the human holding them. The end finishes once the wolf kills the human... or viceversa. To spice the things up there could be mission where there is a time limit, or you have different side goal (for instance you have to protect your puppies, or hunt food to survive, or you are weak during the day, and so on.
  3. Hi, my son of 11 years old has designed this challenge (he likes to invent new stuff on the games we play together... in this case new maps, challenges, etc...). Ideally it's the follow up of the Hopeless Rescue. So this challenge is unlocked only after one has finished the said Hopeless Rescue. Difficulty (5 stars) - Stalker difficulty setting. After a few hours the player has shot the signal gun on the top of the lighthouse in Desolation Point he sees a faint red explosion on the horizon. Maybe someone... has answered his/her question? He must know and leave the island. The player must collect the following materials to fix a boat a leave the island for good, sailing to the south: 1 - 50 pieces of clothes to make the sail of the boat 2 - 10 cedar woods to fix the ship's keel 3 - find 2 packs of dusting solfur (on the Pleasant Valley farm) 4 - find 10 rifle's bullet (to extract the gun powder) 5 - find 5 empty tin cans 6 - make 5 dinamite bombs (with gun powder, sulfur and the cans) 7 - find a speedboat engine (it could hidden in the Hibernia Processing Plant or at the Cannery of Bleak Inlet) 8 - gather 5 litres of water and 30 kg of food 9 - an heavy hammer 10 - a hacksaw 11 - 2 litres of lantern oil (should be used to start the engine) 12 - a storm lantern At this point the player must go to Coastal Highway and fix a boat at the fishing camp. Those 5 dinamite bombs must be placed on the iced sea to break it a create a path. Then the player must wait the night with the Aurora (it happens the night after the boat is fixed) and going out he or she can start the engine and leave the island. A little sequence is played when the boat is seen leaving the coast to the unknown. More or less all the regions must be visited to complete the challenge. The player start on the top of the lighthouse of Desolation Point (in the same very place Hopeless Rescue ends). As the time progresses the weather can get nasty, sometimes there are blizzards and sometimes there is a very strong fog. The weather can be forecasted in a similar way of the Whiteout challenge. The player wins a new badge: "The Fixer". A soild 15% less time consumed when fixing your gear or patching your clothes. What do you think? p.s. forgive the grammar mistakes... if there are any. English isn't my mother language.
