  1. I would actually prefer they remove the dot all together or make it selectable on or off. I think in Stalker that sucker should be off. See my latest adventures here...
  2. Pleasant Valley Farmstead/Homestead. There is a car out front, So far observed car colors include, red, green, purple. Car changes upon entering or exiting building or from day to day unsure of exact timing but nonetheless it changes LOL. Check out my latest Adventures here...
  3. LOL Did you find the names on the guy's wallets? Smells like DLC content to me
  4. Hello my name is Simon, and I died without my bedroll. Welcome to the Long Dark! See my latest Adventures Here... Wow back from the BRINK! way to go!
  5. Well you could maybe keep them in a line of oldest to newest that way you are sure you are always consuming the oldest piece. This is called FIFO in the food industry and is a standard inventory practices. First in First out, prevents spoilage. Bacteria does not grow aggressively under 40 degrees. So even if it contaminates the food it is unlikely to find enough shelter to survive in order to divide and grow and consume the meat. You get sick from two things, intoxication and infection. Infection is caused by consuming meat that has millions or tens of millions of bacteria growing on it. Some food such as meat would need to be exposed to 12-24 hours at 40-140 before it became infectable. This is because the hostile bacteria divide every about every 20 minutes. So if you started with 100 bacteria cells, at a rate of division every 20 min in 12 hours you'd have 30 divisions assuming they all survived you'd have 53 billion bacteria cells. But they don't all survive and if you cook it, by heating the meat to 140-160 degrees you kill all the bacteria. Intoxification is consuming the meat laced with the waste by-products of the bacteria, ammonia and nitrates etc. If you have 53 billion bacteria eating steak and shitting on it it gets contaminated enough to make you sick pretty rapidly. If however the meat never reaches the 40-140 zone where bacteria divide every 20 min, then they don't multiply and they don't consume the meat and create toxic byproducts. Which is why meat kept in the freeze for weeks can be cooked and won't make you sick.
  6. This is another awesome change! Exactly as it should be. Meat outside the dangerzeon 40-140 doesn't spoil which is why steaks in the freezer are still good after 3 months. Hamnburger keeps for months more this way.
  7. You mean these? They are great aren't they! See my latest Adventures Here...

  10. Stalker, Here is mine I do a substantial amount of running places. I try to keep my game days to about 20-30min per day and there is no benefit to walking everywhere. In fact it is usually more beneficial to run some places. Less exposure time, less risk getting caught outside after dark, less risk to enemy action from wolves. Normal ratio for sleeping humans is 1/3 sleep 2/3 awake so 8 hours sleeping 16 hours active. The game doesn't have it modeled too skewed in favor of realism and there is plenty of time to rest/sleep in a day.
  11. As a guy in the 9th day of the parasite infection I can confirm the fatigue fix for parasites is now working as it should. Great job Hinterland. You guys are implementing some really positive features to TLD!
  12. Nothing preventing you from leaving your character in bed as long as you want. The body won't sleep when it has slept recently without drugs because that isn't how sleep and wake chemistry works in the body. What was unrealistic was being able to sleep 36 hours straight before. Now you can stay in bed but you can't sleep for longer than you are tired. If you had a full day of work and you are red line fatigued you can sleep for 8 hours. After 8 hours you will wake up refreshed. If you don't have full health restored and nothing pressing to do, and your health is good and your levels are out of the red, then pass the time resting for a few hours until dawn.
  13. I do like the idea of picking up an animal and either backpacking it or dragging it. I think in time they will add that feature. For sure with rabbits it could be as simple as recovering the rabbits you capture with the snares, reset the snares and walk back to camp. This would reduce the exposure time which is a key component of the risk factor in the game risk vs reward for gameplay so it is more of a B priority to be sure but it still would add some realism to it. As far as the resources you get for a really small investment rabbits are a great resource provider. You can easily get 3-5 rabbits per snare before it breaks, each rabbit providing meat as well as a pelt and guts. The guts can be used for many things to include a bow, fishing line, and binder for clothing, as well as only one for another snare. The key is to place snares in a relatively localized area where they are likely to catch a bunch of rabbits. Mix that up with a good quantity of snares and you will find they are extremely effective and efficient. Low risk too. Jackrabbit island for example is where you can easily nab yourself 4 rabbits a day. The Ravine another place where 3-4 rabbits a day is easy. Even in Mystery lake if you find a nice patrol route you can nab 4-6 rabbits a day while also gathering firewood between rabbit stops. Building up pelts and meat, certainly guts is most efficient this way, can free you up for longer trips later on when you have really good clothing and you have a bunch of snares for in reserve. If you only eat before you sleep and you take the 1% hit per hour if you are starved it will allow you to regen much faster in your sleep. If you find yourself with a big reserve of meat, keeping your food intake high also gives you a 1% regen per hour if all of your conditions are out of the red and you are healthy. Another thing to consider, it is always better to eat cooked rabbit calories than carry them. 450 calories at 2 lbs is very heavy. You can consume 2500 calories and at a rate of 450/2lbs that = about 11 lbs of meat that if cooked you could simply eat instead of carry.
  14. One time I found a millions $ in one of these.
  15. Having parasites actually results in a net positive effect and it shouldn't but when they fix it it will result in a costly negative. I'm not wild about a 10 day infection or 10 days of treatment. That is all I'm saying about that one. The current game where you are subject to needing to sleep, and having parasites prevents you from needing to sleep means your character has unlimited energy while sacrificing only a few percentage points of condition in order to be like that and sacrificing the ability to recover the single percent per hour but idling if not sleepy. Which means you can harvest wood much longer, and you can craft indoors much longer as well and ice fish much longer etc. It needs to be re-balanced.

  17. Appreciate the heads up. Yeah only thing is I dread TWM lol I'm a camper on Mystery Lake mostly. I love the peace and serenity of knowing that I only have a mile or two to go before I sleep. On TWM I die substantially more.
  18. So having gotten this mechanic and now being in my 9th day of treatment. I don't think this mechanic is working in a well balanced manner. First of all. I love getting parasites. But I shouldn't let me tell you why. I'm a runner in this game. I love to run from one place to another. Parasites allow me because of the way the infection mechanic works to never run out of energy. I never get fatigued to the point I cant run. I'm not sure if this is a bug but I first started noticing this on like day 4 or day 5 where the stamina bar never quite empties. This is by design I believe so you don't get a full 8 hours of sleep right? But fact is if outfitted with warm clothes and I'm on day 16 so still all uncrafted clothes, I'm prancing around picking up sticks by the barrell frolicking from branch to branch to pass 10 min get 3 stick pass another 10 min maybe some wind too and get 3 sticks and now I've got a full run bar again. Yeah I think this part of the condition needs to be re-done. The other part of this is I have exhausted all of the shrooms in ML, and the shrooms in the ravine. So if I get a parasitic infection again it means I have to go to another map for the mushrooms. In my view this is too costly a condition. But combine this with the exploit of never running out of energy which clearly breaks the game and never getting parasites again no matter how much cooked predator meat you eat means it also is sort of a bogus implement. Here is what I think we should do. I think Mushrooms should continue to be for food poisoning only. I like the idea of using the birch bark. Maybe add some processing at a crafting table or better yet some cooking in order to make an anti-parasite concoction, something that has to be consumed hot, take an hour to boil, etc. Should at least cut down the number of treatments from 10 to 5. Also the idea of a renewable remedy is preferable to mushrooms. Or just make mushrooms renewable after snowstorms. The odds of getting parasites are pretty low so this could be increased but still made to be manageable. A player is almost never in a position to contract this because if they consume 1 piece of predator meat per day the odds are one infection in 100 days at present. So that is pretty stable. I also think the negatives to getting parasites, should prevent you from being able to fully recharge, and tire fully. This would prevent the exploit where I simply frolick all around without being subject to stamina loss.
  19. I wasn't trying to be insulting. I made the case for months that looking @ steam reviews by players with 20+ hours into the game that the 5% of players who don't like the game or moved on primarily commonly saw wolves as a reason for that. I also advocated for the "spear" being an hour 1 weapon to be created to defend against them. I was told over and over by players that "I needed to change my thinking" and just use the tools at hand when it came to dealing with wolves. LOL. So now I say the same thing. However though wolves are easier because they run off a lot more often, they are unpredictable as well which to some might mean that they are more dangerous. The truth is they were always dangerous if you didn't have an OP torch collection and or flares. If an animal is hungry it is going to attack you flare or torch or no flare or torch. An animal which is a predator and lives its life taking the risk of injury or death every day then a flare or torch isn't going to stop them. So now that the AI has been improved/randomized they are as dangerous or more so but yes you can also use the same techniques as before like avoidance, gun, bow, you just need to be choosy about which wolves you mess with or dont. I am making a video series of my stalker adventure which chronicles every day of my survival in the new update. I am hoping for something as ambitious as 100 days. I am up to 16 so far. In this update I find wolves to be much less of a challenge than before. A flare never should have been effective against all wolves. Nor torches. Tireless Menace is a vast improvement not just because of wolf AI but all of the changes. I hope we can discuss further.
