Sprained Ankles Bug

While playing in Mystery Lake, I had sprained an ankle while walking up a fairly steep mountain by Unnamed Lake. 10 minutes later on another nearby mountain, I sprained my other ankle. It might help to know that I was walking sideways both times, but never fell off of a high place.

Walking down a slippery hill or mountain means having to place your feet carefully. If you slip your ankle may twist, and that can cause the strained ankle. No need to fall for that.

Not sure what circumstances give the highest chance of it happening, but you can also strain your wrist on steep slopes (as you have to use your hands to balance yourself). Nothing like carefully moving down a slope with a gun only to strain your wrist and not being able to use the gun anymore just when you see a wolf ;)

I have ran into the same issues as you have stated above. Sprained my ankle so I drank some tea for a fix. Right after that sprained my wrist and ankle, drank another tea and took 2 PKs. Shortly there after on my way to "bag" a bear in clear cut it happened again with my wrist. Said forget this I'm not using anymore meds atm. Turned to go back up the hill to the ranger station then snap.. Limped my way after that.

that all happened at 22 kgs in my pack and not being tired at all. Nor did I run up nor down the slope.

I would also like to note tho that when these sprains usually occur the game pauses or freezes for a split second. Then right after the injury occurs!

this freezing/injury has also happened to me on flat level(ish) ground aswell and its always linked to the quick game freeze.

when the freeze happens I can only hear the wind sounds all other bg sounds character sounds stop and music if playing will even studder.

the life I was just playing (before my Save file vanished again on me) looked like inwas a UFC fighter. In 56 days i had received over 25 sprains and had fallen 10 times. Which I never have I might add.

I've not seen the spraining as a bug (it seems semi-rare for me and usually occurs on uneven terrain, which would be consistent with RL I guess) but yep I've noticed the pause in gameplay for a second as it happens. That pause seems to occur (to a lesser extent) when any "condition changing" incident occurs. e.g. the moment that starvation sets in.

Thank you for the feedback. We are currently evaluating the sprain system - The pause you're experiencing is from a save triggering from the sprain occurring. You are more likly to receive a sprain when tired, running, or carrying heavy loads.

Does seem too common.

I have found a high degree of sprain right after the 'movement pause' most often experienced on a weather change.  Not sure they are related or if it's just a game processing moment, but my point is if I stop moving right when the pause happens I seem to not have a sprain triggered as often. (Keep in mind this is on hills and I often have 100lbs pack)

Also I understand the need to treat the injury, but we're popping pills at a high rate too.  Is liver failure next?  There should be a time duration on the meds.

40h played as male character and 75% of the time I was overencumbered- 3 sprained ankles/wrists. Less than half an hour as female with 10/30kg inventory- 2 sprained ankles/wrists before I even got to first shelter. Is gender affecting this or is it just a coincidence?
