zymase Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Hi, my game crashes all the time in the menus like when I'm storing things in cupboards so I constantly try to exit and re-enter the building. This time however, something new happened that's never happened before.I started a game in timberwolf mountain, left to pleasant valley, spent a couple game days in pleasant valley then came back to timberwolf mountain. I explored the map for about an hour and came back to the mountaineer hut. I stored heaps of stuff in the hatch and I was just looking around and all of a sudden the fps just dropped to like 1 or 2. I clicked on the bed and rested for an hour to see if that would help but nope. I quit to the main menu and it took forever to get bright and had no chimney smoke animation. Also, is it possible that the game is less stable when running on AMD gpus vs. Nvidia? Will the game eventually have optimization for AMD graphics?output_log.txt
Guest Support Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Sorry that you're experiencing this - It's possible that this is related to known issue with the version of Unity that v.302 is running on. Are you experiencing really high GPU usage/temps at the time? This may be caused due to thermal throttling - If that's the case you can try setting a manual fan profile and set the fans to 70% or higher to see if that helps.
zymase Posted February 14, 2016 Author Posted February 14, 2016 My gpu usage and temp are vastly different depending on in-game weather. When The Long Dark crashes, trying to open my Radeon Graphics Settings also crashes my computer. Cities: Skylines has never crashed on my machine, neither has AdVenture Capitalist (both use Unity).Sunny: gpu 18% @ 39 degrees (Timberwolf Mountain to Pleasant Valley) no crashes or lagWindy: gpu 0%-100% @ 61 degrees (Pleasant Valley to coal mine and back) game crashed
Guest Support Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Thanks for the info - We're looking into this on our end. I'm not sure what version of Unity Cities or AdVenture Capitalist are running, but thanks for testing those as well. Does changing your graphic settings change how long the game will run for?
