I know I would have used them several times (especially first starting out when I reached the Forestry Lookout. The render distance for animals seems pretty far, so I'm guessing you could use these to look for wolves/deer before venturing though certain areas. Also, I'm not sure what the future holds for the map, but if it grows, these would be essential for scouting at elevated positions.

You can always spot the secret location entrance by the 3 small rabbits hopping around it
