Shoot yourself with your own Arrow

Just screwing around today before closing the game and I decided to shoot the arrow straight up.

It was pretty funny how far the thing goes and how long it takes to come down.

Also very rewarding to see the arrow stick perfectly in the snow.

I played around with the angles some and made a happy face....

Wondering if anyone has ever tried shooting themselves this way. Currently in game there are no enemies who use bows or guns against you so it is difficult to know how these weapons will damage us.

My only character with a bow is my 225 day plus stalker character so I don't care to find out what happens if you manage to hit yourself when the arrow comes back down but wondering if anyone else has tried this?

also curious if you can stick yourself with the arrow...since no one could pull it out wouldnt u be stuck with it in u the rest of the game?

Yeah I tried that just yesterday and could not do it, doesn't mean anything though because I remember trying the same thing in Skyrim and never succeeded but there is video proof of it being possible...

awesome never thought of trying that, will give it a go in my latest run I have managed to craft 5 bows stack of pre arrows but only two with arrow heads. due to the distant new map DP that is long way off till i reach it. my arrows are scarce so i might not just want to shoot them willy nilly. Mind you I have about 68 arrow shafts and bunch of feathers ready to go, just no arrow heads == damm shame. sucks if you ask me.

I have tried this.

Just after the forge was introduced. I gathered things and went to DP and made 50 arrows for the first time ever. Cuz all of a sudden they were "rare". Then I had to find something to do with 50 arrows, which ended up being shooting all 50 of them in succession and then looking at the patterns, first at cars, then over hills. Finally straight up. 'Poink', they start landing right next to me. Hmmmm, maybe a little more right.

Never did get hit by one. Never again have had more than 5 arrowheads at once either, cuz "Why?".

Interesting question. Would like to know if someone succeeds :)

The only reason I can think of for having more than 5 arrow(head)s would be if you have made your base far away from a workbench and you don't want to have to make a trip back and forth every time you've broken a few arrows.

I have 6 arrows now (135 days on stalker) and haven't crafted a single arrowhead.

When I get some free time I may start a pilgrim game and try it.

I keep extra arrowheads on hand currently because I play by harvesting everything possible in each map and creating a centralized base for each map.

The central base will keep extra gear for just in case. Currently each base has about 2 rifles and 2 bows. I keep 5 arrows per bow. All this in addition to spare tools, raw materials and pelts.

I normally carry a bow with 5 arrows myself but I made a point of making 100 arrowheads before I left Desolation Point early on. This way I do not have to return and have plenty of arrows to create for my base on each map.

Additionally on about 2 occasions I have shot wolves who have run so far away I cannot find them (only have this issue in Mystery lake they seem to run over terrain I cannot follow) and one time I shot an arrow which bounced off a wolf up on top of a rock I cannot climb.

100 arrowheads is like 10Kgs which isnt a huge burden when migrating.

My current stalker run is almost at the year mark and I am just about done harvesting every non renewable resource on all current maps. I am hoping to keep him alive for when new maps release to continue with the same...the hibernation thing isn't my bag.
