It's not really Hinterland's fault that the bug still persists on X-Box - you rather have to blame Microsoft for that. ;)

Hinterlands released the PC bugfix version (V.282) within a few hours after the first bug reports. They've done their job pretty fast, but they can only release the PC version themselves.

The problem is that new Xbox versions need to be authorized by Microsoft before they can get released. And Microsoft being slow with authorizations is a quite well-known problem (to put it kindly).^^

It was a very unexpected bug (things can and do happen), and the Xbox does have some rather different save systems which has meant changing some system routines and coding orders -- but the major Xb1 bugs [save issues, and black screen] are close to solved and completed now. So hopefully it won't be too much longer before the Xbox players can enjoy what PC players have enjoyed so much.

At the same time, can't really blame Microsoft for the delays for approving the updates. They actually do their best to check the updates and release them within days whenever possible - and their system does work well for maintaining a decent quality expectation for final game releases.

Don't forget, The Long Dark is their first venture into public Preview/Early Access development while games are still being made. Progress is being made towards fixing the final major Xb1 glitches for The Long Dark, and Microsoft's team has been extremely cooperative and helpful during all the growing pains throughout the process as well. 8-)
