Wolves are setting up baits

Wolves are becoming increasingly clever and clever . So i was walking around a corner and there i see a wolf eating a dead deer. Another wolf was nearby but i had a rifle so i thought i was safe to take it.

I approached the eating wolf and it ran towards me and i killed it. Then i harvested the wolf and got down to 50% condition due to wind. So i got to the deer thinking i can make a fire and take the deer. But as i was struggling to set up a fire and find a good place for it so there was no wind, the other wolf attacked me. I panicked and shot into the air but it made the wolf run away. So i approached the deer and tried to take the skin but as i got down to 20% i had to cancel and try to get back to my hut.

But man i got baited by the wolves. They had set all this up before i arrived. They knew i was gonna go greedy. And now i was the food. I died before i could get back to safety and that one clever wolf got all the meat for himself.

I haven't seen any difference in wolf behavior myself yet, but after your post I'll be on the lookout.

Another thing in your post caught my attention though. I know we all have our ways of playing the game, but If I ever get down to 50% condition, I drop everything and make a b-line for the nearest shelter. I can always go back and harvest the wolf or deer the next day. Truthfully, if i get below 70% condition, I won't harvest an animal unless I'm really close to shelter. It's just not worth the risk.

Wolfes can do exactly 2 things, run towards you and run away from you. I wouldnt call that clever...

You are just not careful enough.

That wasnt the problem. The problem was, which i forgot to mention, was that i got hypothermia so i got exhausted and didnt have energy to run. Im properly just not used to the hypothermia thing yet. I think if i had ran away at 25% condition i would have made it.
