Striations on Screen

I don't know if this is an issue with the game or my video card but I recently experienced the following:

  • <1 hour of daylight left.
  • Some form of weather had moved in. I think it was fog? The screen was sepia toned and visibility was near zero but there was no snow and it wasn't freezing.
  • There were striations across my screen as I moved around. It looked like the lines you'd get on an old CRT monitor that wasn't refreshing fast enough.

Now, I don't know if this was due to a frame-rate drop, my computer being old or a rendering issue in game. I've got a screenshot if that would be helpful? I still haven't mastered uploading images to the forum.

First step to check is verifying your Steam Cache. If it reports all okay, then you may need to provide your debug output file.

Without any info on your system specs, there's no way to tell if there's a hardware issue without further details. Attach your debug output log if you need the devs to check for game compatibility issues.

On PC, the log is written to the data directory for the game. For Steam, this would look like:

C:\TheDirectoryYouInstalledSteamTo\steamapps\common\TheLongDark\tld_Data\output_log.txt

For Mac, the debug log is written to: ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

Note that ~ above is your home folder (little house icon).

It's possible the Library folder will be hidden. You can make it show up by typing the following into Terminal:

chflags nohidden ~/Library

You can additional information about items to check here: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=7888&p=44740

Thank You :)

Steam cache should be fine.

After experiencing this problem again I suspect it's a hardware issue.

Is there an email address I can send the debug file to?

Send the debug output file to support@hinterlandgames.com

Include a link to this thread and your username from here so that I can make sure I attach the right details and info when I forward it to the tech team.

Thank You
