ChillPlayer Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but yesterday I've experienced something I didn't for a very long time in TLD: I actually got afraid that I might starve. I was bored on my long Stalker run and decided to leave my Camp at Jackrabbits to go to the Gaz Station during night to craft some arrows with only water on me. When I was done crafting I left the building and found myself in a thick almost 0 visibility fog and a wolf barking at me. I outran it on the street and went into a nearby car, wanting to sleep off the fog. I was for more than 8 hours in the car during which the HUD continued to inform me that it's ??? of daylight left. I left the car and tried to find my way back across the frozen sea which was a hopeless endevour, I lost orientation very quickly and all I could do is a 180 and go back to the coast. I found myself a cozy niche between some rocks, made a fire and sleept in 4 hours intervals, still ??? of nighttime left until it turned back to ??? of daylight left, the fog just wouldn't vanish. With cals at 0% my condition was already down to 80% and I decided I had to do something, so I followed the road until Water Logging, made my way along the logs to the nearby fishing hut and ate some sushi - which poisoned me although the fish was at 94%. Fortunately I knew more or less in which direction I had to go now to find Jackrabbits Island through the fog and didn't get surprised by a wolf along the way. Back in my home I ate some wolf and went to sleep, when finally the HUD said 5 hours of daylight left.So my question is: is this a bug or a new feature, does the new weather system take the players condition into account and make matters worse for him? It's something I wondered about several times before, especially when I didn't had food there'd often be an ongoing blizzard or fog preventing me to fix my situation. Or was this just a coincidence, is fog even supposed to stay for so long? I've never before experienced more than 24h of thick fog, usually it was over after 3-4h tops. I hope it's not a bug, it was awesome to feel the thrill and pressure from the old days again
whisperwind777 Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 In previous versions (before v2.70) the weather could change immediately after you leave a building. That's why you had not experienced bad weather lasting a very long time. But that could happen. I was once trapped by blizzard in a cave for more than a day. What made things worse was that I did not carry a bedroll. After about 30 hours, I finally decided to give a shot. After wandering in blizzard for about 2 hours, I made it to a cabin with only 4%.It's been fixed in v2.70 though. Now the weather doesn't change instantly after leaving a building. So you may expect to be caught in even longer fog in the future.
ChillPlayer Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 Well the thing is, in older versions I sometimes felt too that a blizzard was going on for days but we didn't had the "??? of daylight" info so we couldn't be sure if it was always the same blizzard or if it had a break for 2-3 hours while we were sleeping. But now I'm 100% positive that the fog didn't go away for a single hour and that's not something I've ever experienced previously.

Without bedroll, I could only boil water to accelerate time. So I was definitely in a storm longer than 30 hours.
